Win me back (2 Viewers)

This sounds like a "my country, right or wrong" kind of deal. What's the necessary requirement to make the grade in your eyes? I've certainly wasted enough mental and emotional energy on this cursed franchise over the decades. If only I'd known earlier!

Or maybe, just maybe, you suck at vibe-detection.

You could be right about my vibe detection. I have noticed that you do a very good job in evaluating international players. But it seems you enjoy the draft and the OT section more than the actual team. But hey, if you say you are a Blazers fan, then I am wrong.

that's nonsense

I've actually bid on contracts with the state, city, and county. Bids were generally sealed but the terms and specifications offered by the government departments were fully disclosed public information. This is Oregon, Portland, and the Blazers....not the Pentagon, Lockheed, and the trumps

all we know is that the state is supposedly willing to fund a 360M bond sale. The city is supposed to come up with 150-170M; the county around 90M. All that's needed from the Dundon group is a commitment to sign a 20 year lease that locks the Blazers into staying contingent on the full funding package. Dundon could sign that commitment letter today; he could have signed it on his first day as owner nearly a month ago

if Dundon is being squirrley about the lease terms; if he's demanding more than the 650M; if he's demanding full control over the renovations without investing dollar one; if he's saying he wants a new arena instead of the Moda....then fuck him and those dipshit NDA's. The public, whose money is on the line, has a right to know who these politicians are willing to crawl into bed with

something else to....what exactly is that 650M supposed to buy? Has anybody heard any specifics on that? Is this some form of blank check to just buy speculation? Will half of it go to luxury suites? How much of the renovation is structural? What will be the before and after capacities? There's enough fucking vagueness in this entire scheme to not need elected officials signing NDA's in order to give Dundon cover to be an asshole
Not a chance. I’m currently doing a job for BPA with federal and local money. Not one contractor doesn’t have an NDA.
Sorry. No way.

plenty of 'way'. As I said, I've bid on a dozen government contracts; and I know several other contractors who have done so....there hasn't been a single NDA in sight

and of course, Dundon isn't a contractor; he's a tenant of a publicly owned building. And he does not employ people from the city or state. Those are public employees

I remain extremely pessimistic about our current roster (I am not concerned about ownership or Israel, as they aren't as directly impactful on my fandom as the current roster).

We (Cronin) built this roster to... make the play-in. We did it. Yay.

We've got old, expensive players. We have precious few players on cheap contracts (Scoot and Clingan are, as far as I can recall, the only two contributors on rookie deals) and we will have missed two opportunities to add first round talents (by wasting a pick on Yang and giving this year's the Chicago) so it's not like the cavalry is showing up.

It's a disaster of a roster by a failure of a GM.

No sour taste FAMS! We lost to a team that is more talented than us. Plain and simple. It happens more times than not.
You know the MO here, bitch cry and moan 24-7 even though we just had a surprising season and overachieved.

Then you got some bitching about Deni and his background is cringe as fuck.

This is sports. You guys sound like a bunch of grumpy old men.

What year was that? Sounds like you are 30 years out of the mix man.

I repeat, complaining about people complaining is our favorite hobby at RC2.

Yep. Glad I didnt waste time or money on the franchise the last 5 years. What a colossal waste of time that would have been.

Get ready for older, more expensive players (if people get their way)

I think the last one was about 9 years ago:

as I said, I don't see anything, at all, in the process of elected officials proposing to spend public money on a public facility to make improvements for a tenant that requires an NDA. The only possible benefit it to obscure bad decisions by elected officials or the hide what Dundon wants done with those public funds

the people, as in the taxpayers, you know, the ones providing the funds can only be screwed by a lack of transparency. There's no benefit for them in this shit being hidden behind some legal mechanism. And in this case, it may be an illegal mechanism

The team earned the 7th seed by beating the 8th place team on the road. That's certainly more than "making the play-in" which means ending in 10th place or better.

Seriously makes it hard to read this fourm sometimes. I get not everything can be sunshine and lollipops but it feels like everyones constantly bitching regardless of if we win or not.

Nobody anywhere ever said anything about them being required. Take your AI advice with a grain of salt.
I haven’t reviewed a contract in the last 15 years I’ve been doing it that does not have some form of NDA. It’s simply the way it’s done now.
It protects both parties. You simply don’t want your business being picked apart and processed through the internet and social media platforms the way it is these days.

sorry....not buying what you're selling. As I said, I've dealt with government contracts; I know several contractors who have done the same including a large paving contractor that re-paved a state highway for several miles. No NDA's....none. Never heard of any being involved in any capacity

public agencies looking to spend public funds are almost always operating under the FOIA. There's almost never any proprietary information involved.

here's more AI for you to dismiss:

we didn't hear a thing about any NDA's when it was the state setting a possible bond sale. Nor anything about NDA's from the county

we've only heard about in the context of the city and it's a good bet the only reason we're seeing some pretty sketchy shit about NDA's from the city is because they are trying to come up with 150-170M dollars for the Moda at the same time there's a 172M budget shortfall. They don't want the public to see inside the sausage factory when hogs are being slaughtered

I really don't understand why you're working so hard to justify the city hiding behind NDA's when it comes to this funding plan. Fuck that....make the process transparent

I’m not working at all. I’m telling you I know better first hand. It will be laid out directly in the PLA and the bidding process will not be transparent.
There will be multiple levels of NDA’s.
What you will be told will be exactly what is required by law. That’s it. Nothing else.

great...we both have "first hand" knowledge that is complete different

setting that shit aside, why the fuck should there be NDA's about how the city of Portland spends public funds?

First of all, I wasn't asking anyone HERE to win me back (and you certainly wouldn't with that attitude, mister). But second, I guess we have different views about to what degree genocide can be siloed.
This isn't about me silly. Try contemplating how ridiculous you're being projecting your personal expectations on some 20-something athlete (who most likely is just another self centered horny dumb jock). Come on Deni, throw yourself (and your family) into a political hailstorm for the rest of your life or else I won't root for you! You've focused your life energy becoming great at hoops, but chop chop it's time to get into international politics and publicly articulate my views or again... I won't root for you.

If he were to publicly take a vocal stand against Israel's atrocities, and righteous, articulate and genuine enough to pull it off successfully, that would truly be something. But come on... dude is an entertainer. I'm okay with him just being great at hoops and you, I & others saving the world... but maybe thats for the OT forum

more realist than irrational positivity. I would say im more positive on the team than most -- I honestly hope we don't screw it all up by trying to chase some Star that will have us in the first round bounce like this year, but thats not to say i dont have my gripes with the team or how its ran. But i'm also not going to complain about it every time i watch a game and get upset over it, I myself cant change wtf is going on with the team aside from harrassing @THE HCP or the rest of the media team through DM's so why worry about it constantly? I have other ways of destroying my mental health than to get upset at a TV anymore.

I feel ya. I just dont care for mediocrity anymore. Been through this so many times. Going through the Roy, Oden, Aldridge experience was rough. I don't enjoy making the play in and losing handily in the first round.

The truth is you say one ounce of criticism about a team and people have a tendency to get upset. To each their own.

Some people want to just watch to have a good time and get a break from life I guess.
