The way things work….. some podcast expert somewhere is reporting right now that a “Blazer Insider” close to the team is reporting that Clingan is the on the block. HA!
"league sources..."

"a front office exec I spoke with..."

@kjironman1 is so annoying. Asking me to refute his thoughts with facts. All I've got is smoke that MIN/ATL/BKN were suitors.
My bad. I thought that's what you were doing to me by saying feelings aren't facts.
And yeah I thought it was annoying because it's pretty apparent those statements came up after the pick had been made. Nobody anywhere was saying the Twolves, Hawks or Nets were thinking about taking Hansen Yang before the Blazers took him and I've yet to hear that from any reliable source such as a GM or relative insider of those teams.
So Yeah I apologize for any misinterpretation on my part.

You're good. Just giving you $hit. I don't trust any source around draft time. No doubt Yang was a major sleeper so it doesn't surprise me there was no smoke prior.

I don’t think anyone would be mad about this pick if we would have had 2 1st and picked someone else like KJ or another player the board wanted with the other pick.

heard KJ dropped because he doesn’t play defense. Seems like that’s huge priority and identity for this team.

If thats the case maybe we deal Sharpe mid-season if he doesn't improve there
Yeah I've been wondering if that was part of the motivation to trade Ant - Billups knew he couldn't really hold him accountable on defense. Also Ant defensive ability even with max effort was just physically limited.

If we can dump Ayton then Billups has a chance to really hold all players accountable on D. Timelord Thybulle Jrue are excellent on that end. Really need all the vets to be committed first and then young guys will all follow. Grant was actually decent at times - especially the games that didn't have Ant+Ayton in them. Grant contributed great on both ends for the 4 game win streak.

Id still look to move Grant - that contract sucks - but don't think he blocks what Billups might try to do as Ant/Ayton would.

I mean, he's kind of got a point:

Of course, it's kind of interesting that he's already a lot more measured in his criticism than he was at first. Worried that he'll be shown up?

I think Joe went along with Mike and his scouts on this one. And getting an unprotected first was significant. Maybe he wants to package Yang to the nets?
I can see Ainge trying to be his as he knows The Wiz wanted him.

Which part are you referring to? The competition? Sure it sucked. But at 19, does it matter? I mean, I wanted Coward, and his competition was even worse.
Also: I get the feeling the CBA is kind of ratball and the US players who go there are just allowed to run riot, so it's unlikely to be a good showcase for a big guy.
