Guarantee Yang is happy to be on a team that's competing to some degree rather than rebuilding.

He looks very engaged on the bench and with the team in general.

Much like Clingan I expect year two to be completely different after spending a whole year learning and a summer training NBA style.
he's making a guaranteed $378K/month for 2 years. I'd be ecstatic with 1/10th of that

I wonder how much of Yangs play is due to language/culture shock.

I would guess it's less likely that someone from a European country would have language issues, but also they tend to grow up playing against grown men vs the route Yang has gone.

In addition to people having somewhat unfair or unrealistic expectations for him.

He's 3 games into his, hopefully long, career. He's about where I expected.

Yang wouldn't fit with any style of play right now unless it was a full-tank style of play

and if the Blazers won't play Reath, why did they keep him and waive Jabari Walker? And yes, Portland needs a more mobile smaller-ball C, especially if Timelord remains on Medicare
Reath was kept since he was a teammate of Yang.

Maybe Yang needs a few extra months to break out, so he makes his first all-star game in 2027 instead of 2026. I'll be ok waiting for that.

BUMP….. I’m not going to do this again. But PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF JESUS……have realistic expectations for this kid. Seeing with my own eyes how hard he is working. Loved by his teammates.
This is EXACTLY how things were supposed to go. Right?
Agreed.

I keep my expectations very realistic. I expect Yang might be more of an end of the bench player for a few months, then 6th man around January, starting in February, and our best player averaging 35mpg in March.

We shouldn't expect too much too soon. Let's give him a few weeks.

I also don't expect Yang to lead us to the conference finals this year either. That might not be until some distant time such as his second season.

Anyone watching can see he is not ready. He's a huge project and that should be what people are looking for at this point.

Fun fact: Sabas was originally drafted by the Atlanta Hawks in 1985 with the 77th pick. The pick was later voided because he wasn't 21 yet.

Atlanta wanted to pair him with Dominique Wilkins!

He's Arvydas not your-vydas!!
Pre-injury Sabonis was the best basketball player in the world. People who never watched him then have no idea how fast and agile he was. If only the SSR would have let him come over when we drafted him.
