@yuyuza1 @blazedanugz This is what I PM'd to a poster this morning.

"....and in response to your question in the thread, I've heard there have been exploratory discussions between N.O. and N.O. but I get the feeling it is facilitory in nature or for a secondary piece and that Davis is not part of it. The couple of people I check in with didn't think from what they had heard that Portland was very serious."

In a follow up discussion with one of the people I get to chat with, he said that he believes Portland has inquired about Davis but that the conversations weren't very serious. He thought they had deeper discussion regarding ancillary pieces rather than any significant talks regarding a superstar like Davis.
Well it's still early in the process... This strengthens a lot of my negative opinions on NO. I think Dame and Nurk are a great tandem and CJ's pretty good at times too, but I don't think we will ever get a championship again without being willing to take some major risks. Like for instance taking a great player for a year and a half that and hoping you can find a way to keep him.

If we don't get AD I hope it's because they simply didn't like what we had to offer (assuming everyone but Dame is on the table). If it is because we didn't want to risk losing him in the summer of 2020 I'm going to be pissed.

Probably some combo of not wanting to lose AD in 2020 and not wanting to give up assets

@TBpup In fairness is it possible that Olshey asked about Davis and they weren't interested in a deal centered around CJ and/or Nurk making it virtually impossible to come up with a package good enough? Most people seem to be taking your statement as Olshey not super interested in AD which may not be the case.

Or maybe its a, we heard your offer, we will let you know

So I’m trying to figure out the AD plot lines. It sounds like Boston has the best offer, but has to wait till summer, so LeBron/Rich Paul put it out AD wants to be traded so that LeBron can get him to join his team before Boston has a chance. (Hence the tampering stuff). So are only real shot is getting the cast offs like Mirotic (which I like, btw). Anything else?

Well New Orleans could give Rich Paul a big fuck you and refuse to trade him to LA. I'm actually hoping that's what happens.

What the fuck is going on

Lebron wanted Kyrie. Davis wanted out of NO, presumably to Boston. Rich Paul who represents both Lebron and Davis leveraged Davis, to put pressure on Boston to trade Kyrie(To LA to rejoin Lebron) so they could then trade for Davis.

Davis and Lebron want things to happen now, not in the summer.

Neil seeing it for what it is, is trying to weasel in be the middle man and get the collateral damage...Mirotic probably a main target.

Except Rich Paul said AD doesn't want to go to Boston.

Some think Lebron is the greatest of all time. That's fine. To me he is already one of the greatest but the kind of shit that's currently going on puts Jordan above Lebron forever. This dude has been fucking with teams and rosters ever since Miami. I start wondering how long this plan has been going on between Paul and him. Now this Kyrie shit comes out. Didn't Kyrie leave because of Lebron? this could easily be put out to push AD to LA but still what if it's true?

I remember when PG stayed in OKC, nba media were saying "oh look, small market teams can do it". Yeah fucking right. Large markets will always be king no matter how shit the team is. New York is ass and everybody is already talking about KD to New York next season and blah blah blah. It's unfair. Small market teams stay mediocre and in a purgatory and no mater how much large market teams fuck up, they always have dibs on the next disgruntled star or the star in free agency. Load of shit

Chris Vernon on the ringer NBA show today floated the CJ + Zach for AD idea as something NO should consider.
It's Rich Paul and lebron in the driver seat for all I am concerned. They should consider it but this is the NBA where the Lakers will get 50 nationally televised games a year even when they are bad. Shits a joke. It's crooked

https://www.hoopsrumors.com/2019/01/nba-fines-anthony-davis-50000.html

“The fine is for statements that were made by Davis’ agent, Rich Paul, in an intentional effort to undermine the contractual relationship between Davis and the Pelicans,” the NBA explained in its statement.

Davis is making approximately $25,4MM this season and the $50K fine represents less than 0.2% of his salary. For context, if someone made a $50K salary, that would be equivalent to about $98.00.

Except Rich Paul said AD doesn't want to go to Boston.

I didn't hear that part. So LA, thinks they are getting both Kyrie and AD by the deadline?

That would be like me playing season mode and overriding trades to send shitty players to NO and OKC for Anthony Davis and Paul George. If the NBA allows that type of shit...Jesus

Davis was just fined $50,000 for this.
If the league really wanted to put an end to this type of crap, they need to fine the player 5% of annual salary (primarily symbolic) AND fine the Agent. The agent's fine should be substantial - something like $500k for the first offense, $2M for the second, and banished from the league for a third offense.

They don't. Why would they want to end this? It's good for the league.

People aren't going to want to watch two California super teams go at it.

With DAvis getting fined I wonder if the league is also sending his Agent a subtle message that if AD ends up in LA they are going to take a very close look at everything he does from now on. I remember listening to a pretty big NBA podcast where they wondered if PG staying in OKC was because the league went to his agent and kind of said because you guys tampered he can sign anywhere but LA.
