As detailed in a previous thread, Zach had a very good January after starting the season poorly.
He then reverted to a poor February. However, post-ASG (which includes last 3 games of Feb.),
he's back on track, having finished TWO games now. Here are his numbers post-ASG:

8 Games (148 min)
FG: 19-37 = 51.4%
3FG: 6-14 = 42.9%
FT: 5-6 = 83%
Reb: 37 (9.0/36 min, hard to assess because he plays with Davis who is a monster rebounder)

Considering his defensive prowess, these numbers are very solid. I'm extremely optimistic.

Agreed. Zach has been excellent since the All Star Game, and now is on a trend for statistics that show strong development. It is great to see his scoring, especially those percentages, improve to go along with the defensive talent that he is bringing.

He and Ed have both a chemistry and a synergy. Ed packs the paint for offensive rebounding, while Collins floats out
to the 3 point line - they don't get in each others way.

He's the swish3 player we all hoped Meyers would become.

Nice to see a camera shot of Biebs raising his arm jubilantly when Collins hit a 3. He may be a waste of salary, but he's a good teammate and a good dude.

The blazers resign the Nurk unless someone out there gives him the max. There is no question about it

Nurk and ZC play different positions IMO. So yeah you sign him, but no you don't overpay for him since you HAVE to re-sign Ed too.
Hopefully Nurk has a reasonable agent.

Wizard Mentor, I agree. Zach is remarkably improved in his swish3 shooting, and I imagine that comes from some teammate interactions where Meyers is important. What is great is that the Blazers are getting to the magic 15 or more swish3 scoring that can lead to a Championship.

I think Ed is retained, but it's always scary to throw big money at players like him.
Faried, TT are the most recent I can think off the top of my head of players who have similar games to Davis. Yet never lived up to their contract.

Davis has always been consistent, though. Only injuries stop him.

Now that our first round pick looks like it will be in the high 20s I wonder if we should of sent it somewhere for a SF?

1) Zach has almost become a "solid NBA player," and I'm hopeful he can get there by the time the playoffs start.
Right now, he's still inconsistent.

2) His comfort level has clearly increased, and that's been huge.

3) He meshes well with Ed Davis.

4) I've been saying all along that he's a 2-way player, and I think we're starting to see that. In particular, I
think he's become a solid 3 and D player.... which is exactly what you want when you have stars like Dame and
CJ on the team already.

5) He still has weaknesses, and the refs still hate him, but it's fun watching him improve.

6) Depending on what happens in the offseason, it's reasonable he becomes a starter midseason next year.

7) His PER is still only at about 8, but I honestly don't know if that's a low usage thing or not.

edit: 8) Dude doesn't become old enough to have a drink until NOVEMBER.

Earlier in the year, Nurk's poor start seemed to lower his value in the upcoming free agent market. Now with Davis and Collins becoming more prominently featured late in games, will that further suppress his value? Nurk's been great defensively, and increasingly more efficient and consistent on offense, but I wouldn't be surprised if his teammates' performances are costing him money.
