If Neil doesn't make a deal that makes this team better, then that is all on him. Either because he values his own players way too much, or he has put this roster in the position it is in from a contract standpoint with either money, length or both.

There are trades to be made and other teams are making them.

No more excuses.

This is Moe’s year I can feel it.

What are your people saying?

So help out my early morning, haven't had coffee yet memory. What trades has SA made that made them anything close to a contender? That would be of impact to me.

.....

SA has won nothing post-Duncan.
Is this like if my kid tells me she has bad grades but thats ok cause everyone else does to?

Well I guess there dangling Harkless and the 1st. So if that true I see only a modest trade or no trade is done.

That there are discussions going on but as in the past, Neil is either way over valuing his own players, or trying to get something very much on the cheap. I don't begrudge him attempting that at first at all....but at some point, reality has to set in.

He is really hamstrung by his own doing. Giving 4 year deals so so many guys at the same time gave him no laddered approach. Now he will have a bunch of ending contracts which are often a good thing.....but they will be at the time when everyone else has them as well.

Another trade of interest to me:

CJ and Collins to NY Knicks

Knox, Kantor and unprotected #1 (we help them make room for KD and add CJ and young prospect in Collins

We pick up a young SF, back up big that’s expiring and a chance at picking Zion!

We won’t make a deep run this year, but it’s a decent reload for next year
I like where your mind's at, but I don't think NYK will give up their pipe dream of 2 max stars this summer, PLUS Zion, for CJ/Zach.

Robin Lopez, Afflalo, Plumlee, Nurk, not to mention maneuvering around the draft to find ways to get players he wants via TRADE.

People keep jazzing their pants about Jake Layman. You do realize that he was drafted by Orlando and traded to Portland? And that goes for half of his draft selections.
I only liked this post because I like jazzing my pants

ugh

so nothing imminent.

what a freaking tease.

OK, all you (its HUGE block buster or nothing) trade freaks, would you include Dame in a trade for anyone in the league?
He's our #1 asset that would also bring us the MOST in return, so unless you are willing to include him for ANY SUPER STAR be realistic in what we can actually acquire in terms of that (impactful super star trade).
This consideration alone separates the real gamblers from those with a safety/oh I'm not trading him, zone!

Serious question about today:

Would you rather have no move or one that is a slight downgrade that clears a bad contract this summer but we don't get anyone meaningful?

No one has said that. I will bet you every single person here complaining about Neil will stop the moment our team gets to the WCF while winning 60 games. We haven't won a single playoff game in 2 years.
What is an impact changes. If we missed the playoffs 10 years in a row, and then made them, that would qualify as an "impact." It's like the dog races - that darn rabbit is always just ahead, and we can never seem to catch it.

Oh.... the hypocrisy!

Not saying he isn't snarky, but you're right there with him.
Anybody who butts into a conversation that doesnt involve them to talk crap is up there as well.

Harkless/1st is about as good of a package we can offer. No one is taking Turnover and Leonard. Could we rent Mirotic for half a season for this? Probably yes, but I don’t know if that is worth it. Maybe Neil is trying to squeeze a second in that deal. That would make the most sense to me. New Orleans is taking on a year of Harkless, but he’s not completely useless and they need to tank anyhow depending on what happens either Davis.

I would say the 'slight downgrade' that allowed us more flexibility later. It's not like we are slightly downgrading from being a contending team. We would be slightly downgrading from being #4.....when we were #3 but within 2 games of #8 last year. Not much has changed.

Since we have no hope of getting beyond the 1st round - again - I vote to dump a bad contract and give the team a chance to do something over the summer.
