I enjoy the trade deadline stuff...was great when we got Nurk at the deadline. I don't care that much for Trade Machine stuff that is all conjured up ..but when the sports media or Woj break a trade or interest story....I'll enjoy it....I feel the same about the draft....I'll pay attention more to the guys we bring in to work out or target than who fans think is the better choice...the rest is the Blurry Melo with extra whatever fodder

I enjoy reading the different rumors and speculation being reported around the NBA, but it does get carried away with 10,000 trade proposals that follow in this forum. What I find hilarious is that some of these posters will still bash Olshey over some hypothetical proposal that hasn't even happened.

Sooooo....we have a weakness at Forward, and you don't want depth at that position? Am I reading that correctly?
Not quite. You appear to be discounting the notion that we'd be trading for Blake Griffin, which would presumably eliminate our weakness at the position, making depth a moderately lesser concern.

Its easier for me to expect the unexpected!
I have faith in Neil....lol

I have faith as well. That he will be on his phone in his valet'd car messaging Woj about how active he is.....and then nothing of significance gets done.

Would LOVE to be mistake about that but after so many years of 'meh', I'm jaded.

I think the most annoying is going to be when the deadline passes with no moves and one of the team employees (casey) puts out a tweet about how we can get back to basketball now.

I would hope he thinks his job is on the line and he has to gamble on something big.

That was two years ago. And it was financially motivated.

Seriously when was the last time Olshey made a significant move with purely upgrading the team in mind?
Answer the same for all of the other GMs in the league. Then, we can compare and have an intelligent conversation. Otherwise, just go ahead and bitch. It's what people here like to do, after all.

What about Kent Bazemore? He's supposed to be on the block.

Although with Layman playing well, maybe our need for a scoring SF has diminished...

Can we just answer for teams in our division?
OKC--Paul George
UTA--Ricky Rubio
MIN--Jimmy Butler (didn't work out, but they tried)
DEN--Roy Hibbert? (they draft so well they don't have to trade)

What would that even look like

Pretty simple actually cuz SAC can absorb the Harkless contract as they're the only team still under the cap. Why SAC and NOP do that is another matter

EDIT:

oh it said skal to Portland. @blue9 has it below.

POR- Nurkic and a first round pick

You forgot one for some reason. :bgrin:

How do you know it was just financially motivated? It was an opportunity to get a young center with a big upside as well as a first round (15th) pick. That's exactly how Olshey explained it as Nurk had shown some glimpses in Denver and wasn't happy with a reduced role. Your hate for Olshey has blinded you from seeing reality sometimes. If it was strictly financially motivated he could have let Plumlee walk and have his salary come off the books.

I’ll narrow it down to all the playoff teams in the western conference.

1. Warriors- Cousins

2. Nuggets- Millsap

3. Thunder- George, Melo (Melo didn’t work out, but that’s not the point here, so I’ll include him)

4. Rockets- Paul, Gordon

5. Spurs- Gay

6. Jazz- Rubio, Crowder, Korver

7. Clippers- Tobias

And these are just the moves in the last two years. Now what has Portland done in the same timeframe? You call it bitching. I call it reality.

PG - GM was desperate, not "smart", PG re-signed at long odds.
Rubio - BFD
Butler - had relationship with coach, and as you say, didn't work out.
Hibbert? lol.

0/4

Were they basketball moves or not?

3/4. Denver doesn’t need to make moves they’re deep as hell, but they still got Millsap anyway. 4/4.

1. They got him because of ships, not because the GM is "smart"
2. Huge overpay, who was then injured.
3. GM was desperate, not "shrewd". George re-signing wasn't logical, but luckily for them, he did. Melo move was dumb.
4. GM has made a million moves, some were good. Paul never considered us.
5. so what?
6. yawn
7. They gave up a "superstar" to get him. If we traded Lillard for Harris, you'd be happy?

Your "reality" isn't great. Still feels like bitching.

lmao! so you conveniently cut off at 2 years so that the Nurkic trade can't be included? How many of those teams finished ahead of us last year and ahead of us this year? GS didn't trade for Cousins as he was gifted by signing a 1 year contract for a massive discount. Jury is still out if it actually improves them and then he will likely be gone next year.

Where is CJ in that deal? We can offer CJ without sacrificing our bench. Because that's a huge load in return for Griffin.
Hey, we'd still have Curry, Stauskas, and Leonard!

But seriously, with Dame/CJ/Blake/Nurk all in the starting lineup, how much bench production would we really need?
Plus just because CJ wasn't part of the Blake trade doesn't mean we can't trade him still to someone else for that depth.

They were all basketball moves. Everything you just typed here is irrelevant to the discussion.
