LeBron....big deal you went to the Finals every year in the East. This is the West. It's different out here.

It's cold outside in the west

Okay, I woke up! Everybody stand at attention!

Let's check all the trades since I conked out at 3am...

NOTHING???

THIS IS ALL YOU BUMS CAN DO???

We gotta fire these moderators and get someone who WORKS.

Not at all.
Just that real wired needle movers are hard to acquire unless you are willing to give up somone that can do the same.

I don't disagree with that at all. Hopefully, the Blazers will some day reach the point that they have to make a decision like that. For now, I would be happy if they just move forward. (and no, Hood doesn't count!)

What is the point?
People want to bitch and it's their right?
People want to say Neil would never.... and have zero basis for saying that?

I let it slide most all of the time, but people's anxieties at the deadline are making them crazy, and their response is to try to make me crazy... and it's somewhat working.
The point was pretty clear, saying well other people didn't do something so we shouldn't expect or want the team we are fans of to do something isn't all that valid. Just like if my child said she had bad grades and tried to excuse that as so does everyone else. I wouldn't accept that excuse because in the microcosm of our house how the other kids are doing isn't a valid excuse for how she's doing. Sure that analogy can break down, but I don't care what the other GM's or teams are doing I care what the Blazers are doing.

YES! THE CHAOS! BRING IT ALL TO THEIR LOCKER ROOM!

Lavar is the like opposite of my parents. In that, my dad constantly would be like that dude better than you, if you want me to think differently go prove it. Lavar's constantly like no matter how I do, no matter how my Son does he's still better than everyone and I could still beat Jordan!

Narcissism and delusion. That’s lavar for you.

Rockets opening a roster spot for a future buy out player.

As much as i hate the Lakers i would applaud the Lakers if they traded Ball a really bad run team who never makes the playoffs etc -- Like trade him to the Kings or the Cav's --- cause if i could take the perspective of not hating any team as long as Ball is on the Lakers they will not win a thing cause one Ball is overrated and 2) his father will do something to cause a distraction at some point to cause a rift.

Per Colin:

~'Brian Windhorst says that the Pelicans engaged the Lakers just out of revenge for what they thought was tampering and never had any intention of trading him to the Lakers. The Lakers just got clowned by one of the worst organizations in the NBA.'

LOVE IT!!

I am now a huge fan of the Pelicans not the team just the front office team --- that is what's needed in Portland the balls to do something like that and not just hope and wait for a deal to drop to ya like a bottom feeder.

S2 posters: I miss Bob Whittsitt he always made trades.

Neil Olshey: (makes more trades than Trader Bob in less years)

I don't even have to know what the 'stats' are on trades between those two GM's to know that's a dumb take...sorry

What Whitsitt knew is that you can't change the trajectory of a team by fucking around with the back end of the rotation. Dinking with the 8th or 10th or 12th players on the depth chart isn't going to add any playoff wins. Whitsitt worked the top part of the rotation and was always searching for elite talent while knowing the price was going to be significant. He didn't get irrationally attached to average players, and he wasn't stupid enough to believe that sifting thru dumpsters was going to make any difference

but these 'back-end-low-level-bargain-basement-dumpster-diving-pray-for-nuggets' trades are Olshey's only comfort zone when dealing with other GM's. He seems to be a chickenshit about entering into any discussions when he has to actually deal in a true give-to-get ratio. It's just so much easier for him to create an untouchable list and that way, not take any risks. And, the one asset he had for most of those discount trades was cap-space, which he pissed away in 2016.

Olshey had been on the job for 6 fucking years last April...6 years. And in that time what he had built was a team that got swept in the playoffs. And there were still people excusing him for a variety of half-assed reasons. It's 8 months later and the excuses keep coming. "If you liked Olshey's 6th year team, you'll really love his 10th year team...be fucking patient and shut your mouth"

Whitsitt wasn't perfect; he didn't pay attention to fit or chemistry. And just like Olshey, he had some favorite players, like Detlef Schrempf. But he was able to get high end talent and didn't confuse average talent for high end talent just because he drafted it. I wouldn't want Whitsitt or a Whitsitt-clone back, but I sure wish Portland had a GM that would spend more time taking the risks of going after high end talent, and less time servicing his own ego

I like Kanter but i think his off the court thing with his home country is screwing him up atm and i am not sure i would trust him to be what he has been in the past. I would not object to taking a flier on him but not sure if it would work out. Also not to mention if the country he is from decides to pull a Saudia Arabia on him they might always take him out and IF this happens i do not want him any where near the Blazers. This might sound crazy but at this point nothing surprises me.

Kanter, Randolph, Matthews. I'm fairly certain Olshey will try going dumpster diving for these guys.

Or Turner/1st for Kanter. Honestly I don't care, Kanter is expiring and it gets Turnover off the fucking team. It's too bad the Knicks are dead set on trying to keep their stupid capspace so this will never happen.

Just read the Knicks are considering buying out Kanter….now that is a guy I could see Neil picking up off the scrap heap

The people who don't want Mirotic because of his defense would have their heads explode over Kantor.

Jokic hasn't done shit or won shit in this league.

Saying he's anywhere near as good as AD is delusional.
For the record, I do not think Jokic is as good as AD. Buuuuut, it's also delusional to say AD is a Top 5 player when the dude can't lead a team to wins. I just put Jokic there to illustrate that even he can lead a winning team - something AD is apparently incapable of despite being a "Top 5 player". I should have separated that line out from the list of other players.

Also for the record, I think AD is tremendously talented. But he's not a Top 5 player. And trading Nurk for him would be a mistake.

One guy is leading his team to the #1 spot, while the other to the 13th in the west

Wiz, Schilly makes rare appearances, always to defend the status quo. Just to introduce you to our #1 status quoer, as predictable as a plugged-in clock.
