I watched the 4th qtr of the game at a bar and they didnt have the sound on. What's the word on why Scoot didnt play in the 4th qtr?

It seemed like he was getting some attention on the bench after getting whacked in the face, and as far as I can remember, never came back in after that. By that point, things were humming along with Banton in, so not much incentive to make a switch.

Scoot's defense is getting better, though.

Different kind of defender than Camara in that he uses his strength, but his feet are plenty quick. His hands are so strong that he can dislodge the ball or just rip it away from even bigger guys.
I see him battling with bigger guys A LOT. I don't know if it's design, but I get the impression the Blazers are okay with guys like Randle getting switched on to Scoot because they figure he can at least slow them down - more even than Grant.

I wouldn't sleep in him just because the expectations were so high and he isn't anywhere near them, but Scoot's starting to show more and more flashes. Just needs to calm down out there and definitely has to show he can do this consistently, but his defense has been noticeably improved ... he's not Dame/Ant-level of a liability on that side of the court, not even close.

I agree I’m big Scoot fan, in my opinion he just needs playing time. He needs to be starter for rest of year. We know what we have in Simon’s he’s a a good player that needs to be a 3rd option or come off the bench on good team. Scoot just tries to do a little too much and feels like he needs to make a play every single time down court. Once he settles down and picks his spot I think he’ll be a very good player.

damn I hate Randles game, just ugly bully ball.

As a whole, I think Minnesota's offense is ugly......despite having Edwards. I mean this was a team that was in the WC finals last year. Maybe they should have kept KAT?

Scoot had multiple passes that were so far off they hit the top of the backboard, no joke.

Obviously Scoot can't shoot either. If Sharpe is going to initiate offense as he was most trips down in the 4th where does Scoot stand?

I'm starting to wonder if Scoot best role is coming in off the bench as he can initiate the offense which lessens the harm from his shooting.

Also the defense and length with Banton starting would be nuts;

Banton
Sharpe
Camara
Grant (or Deni)
Clingan (or Timelord)

Probably don't see this until Ayton comes back - but what about a few Timelord+Clingan minutes together??? Clingan has the 3pt shooting and Timelord has the defensive mobility it might work for stretches.

They Bob Whitsitted the shit out of that team, minus a coke fiend and trading away a future star for an old man.

Can't Scoot get playing time and "settle down" in a bench role? I think Scoot starting is bad for the Blazers team right now and it might be bad for Scoot's development as well since he will be so significantly outplayed.

I'm all for Ant on the bench - but I'd seriously explore starting Banton.

Scoot definitely had some passes that would've made Shaqtin'.

The one fast break to Jeremi where his pass landed in the crowd several feet above Grants hands for starters.

holy crap, am I actually nervous and excited??
The same way you are around women that DIDN’T get delivered to you love dungeon and you have to inflate? #BAM

Outside of defense, what stood out to me is something that Lamar pointed out. Clingans processing time is insane for a big. Knows exactly where to go and passes to make. Reminiscent of Nurk when he first got here.
Good point, yes I've been shocked how quick he is - especially with his massive size.

What do you think about DC looking good hedging? I know one of your big concerns drafting him was that he was going to be purely a deep drop big on defense.

Yeah they should both be starting!

I don't get why a bunch of people were posting for Scoot to come back in at crunch time, his passes were off by 15 feet.

We should move Ant to the bench when he comes back, but maybe it's not Scoot who should be starting in his place.

Bench role is best for Scoot until he can eliminate the dumb mistakes.
Double edged sword FAMS. Gotta look BIG picture. If you want to win Scoot to help us like I think he can for the next decade, he needs to get minutes down the stretch. If your more worried about a game in a 25 win season, sure sit ‘em.

Still think going against mobile bags will be a problem. He's been blown by a few times already this season. But his rim protection is elite. I just hope he won't get played off the floor by certain teams.

I think that's still a legitimate concern. He looked great last night but his main counterpart was Gobert and he won't really test Clingan's defense outside of the restricted area

need to see how Clingan does against AD, Jokic, Embiid, etc. and teams that don't appear to have as remedial an offense as Minny did

I cant believe anyone is concerned this team will start winning. The had two nights of their best play against a team playing two nights of their worst. It's welcome sight but more growth needed!
