Aldridge to the Spurs(Official)

Look at it this way, people have been predicting that the Spurs were going to break down for years now, wouldn't it be hilarious if it was this year?

Exactly. He's a Robin. Who is Batman on that team? Duncan is too old. Kawhi doesn't strike me as a Batman. I see him as a Robin as well.
Let's focus on our squad. I'm actually pretty excited now that this is finally over. This is Lillard's team and that's a good thing. Adios Aldridge...

I have no issue with him going closer to home and family. I'm also glad he announced fairly quickly so Neil can move forward with lopsided desls (gallinari?) I heard he wanted to leave a couple years ago. Just wish he had not misled the fanbase that roots with rose garden colored glasses on. They are the ones feeling this the most

You give Pops way too much credit. He had arguably the best PF of all time in Duncan. He had two other All-Stars in Parker and Manu. He's not magic. He didn't take a bunch of misfits and make them into a championship team.

Later. I can't really blame him for heading to San Antonio but that lip service he payed us about resigning and being the best Blazer ever really sours my opinion of him going forward.

I won't say that I wouldn't be happy to see that. Maybe Aldridge brings the curse of Roy to SAS?

I'm not a huge Blazer fan like most of you guys here. I'm more of an NBA fan than a Blazer fan, but they are the team I root for since I moved to Portland 7 years ago. I can see why most Blazer fans are angry, but from an outside perspective it makes sense. He's chasing a championship. Whether you want to hear it or not. He wasn't going to win shit in Portland.
Pretty words. I look forward to ramming them down your throat. :)

He said that in 2013. Well, not the "they should trade me"...he didn't want any part of going to CLE or DET or CSKA Moscow if he could help it. Then, if he would've said "I'm not sure I'm returning", he would've been well within his right and I'd think of him like I'm thinking of Wes right now...Sorry you're gone, wish you were here, but you earned the right to make your situation your own.

He didn't. He even said "I'm not signing the 3yr max because I want to get the 5yr. Don't worry. It's about my financial security!" Not "Man, I'd like to be able to make a choice to leave if that's the best situation for me...I don't even know what's out there b/c I've been in POR since I was 21. I think I'd like to go to TX or LA, but we'll see. Family's important to me." Nope, he straight-up lied. Twice, if you count lying about saying he wasn't re-signing with POR in his 2013 exit interview, then saying in training camp that he said it but changed his mind.

Again, whatever. Historical footnote.

Well maybe you shouldn't read too much into what a player says. It's a business. I'm sure a lot of sports players feel salty after a GM tells them they will stay with the team and then they get traded. It works both ways.

There is no such thing as a Batman in SA. They don't play that way. There's multiple "batmans", like TD/TP/MG when they were all in prime.

They build winners out of everyone..... I am envious of their coaching.

It will be funny when Duncan/Parker/Manu retire in a couple years and Pops decides to hang em up.

Dame needs to post something clever and take us from the ledge [emoji24][emoji24]

You give Pops too little credit. Stop having the salt cloud your views. Pops is the greatest coach to coach this game

I don't see this as being on the edge. I think a lot of people were already mentally prepared for this moment, and now everyone is just venting. Venting towards LA, venting towards Neil, venting towards each other. etc

How exactly is Pops and the Spurs different than Phil Jackson and the Bulls or Phil Jackson and the Lakers? Let's start comparing rings.

You misunderstand me. I didn't read into what he said.

You can tell me that strippers are lying meanies, but that doesn't make it hurt less when she divorces you and takes your bank account to buy 5 figure toys for a dude in leather chaps and a chest beard. I thought there was love there once.

Agreed, what do people expect him to say when reporters shove a mic in his face 100x a day with the same question. If he said anything else it would be a huge distraction and he would be labled a team cancer. Best to hold your cards close. Also at the time there was no reason to know that th SA opportunity would have beem available to him...

Isn't this the plot of 50 shades of grey?
