The NBA should just get rid of all the confusing rules and have a hard cap at the 2nd apron. Its effectively being navigated as a hard cap anyways. The NBA should only count a percentage of a player's salary against the teams cap space if the team drafted the player. Right now, seems to me like teams who draft well are punished
He did jack shit in the multiple games I watched the Thunder these playoffs.Would the Thunder have won the title without Chet? He adds a huge dynamic to that team on both ends.
Seems like a coin flip either him or Wemby are healthy in a given season. But when they are healthy over the next decade - that team might be huge title favorites.

Teams can go over the 2nd apron for 1 of 5 seasons.
Allow teams to trade any amounts of salaries. Remove all salary matching requirements.
I like the Dirk/Duncan/Wade/Kobe/ (we previously thought Dame) idea of letting a team have some cap relief to sign a long time franchise icon. Maybe for allstars with a single team over 10 years have 1/3 or 1/2 of their salary not count against the cap or such.
Allow all contracts to be cut for 50% savings. Stretch can only be done for max of 3 years.
Don't allow teams to trade picks beyond 4 years in the future. 5-7 years out its only the fans who pay the price as all the players/coach/GM/etc have long since left. But remove all the Stiepen restrictions.
Agreed. Yes part of the idea of allowing these player extension is so the team that drafts an allstar at least locks them up then if they ever pivot to rebuild can get some good assets in return so the player doesn't leave for nothing like LMA/Durant/etc.I agree with the whole matching salaries concept. It really limits what teams can do.
Yeah - I'd have thought the Thunder would get at least a bit of a discount below the max, doesn't look like it.Smart for Chet to sign that contract asap considering the high probability he gets injured.
NBA salaries be crazy....and yeah, OKC can't sustain paying SGA/Holmgren/Williams 170M/year
If Chet is just a role player, how are we gonna feel maxing out Scoot and Sharpe soon.
Gulp.

DAMN! we got put in the toughest group
I wish the NBA would trash this mid season tournament. It's so dumb & gimmicky.
You expect them to be in the Top 5?I expect Ayton to have a number of stretches of a week or two each where Laker fans go nuts with what a steal he was.
But eventually he will settle back into his ways same as PHX and here.
That Lakers roster really needs a lot of work to compete with any of the top5 west teams in a playoff series. The more I look at it I'm just shocked they were able to get the 3 seed last year. Although it was only two wins above 8th.
I don't believe the salaries have changed at all the last 15 years. It's all the same percentages of the cap.NBA salaries be crazy....and yeah, OKC can't sustain paying SGA/Holmgren/Williams 170M/year
I really like the cup.https://www.nba.com/news/2025-nba-cup-group-draw-results

Disagree - it's great that they are also regular season games. It would be stupid to have it be any different.Or do it right and have a damn tournament. Bring all the teams out, single elimination and let them go at it.
No - OKC DEN HOU MIN GSW are top5 IMO. It will be very hard for the Lakers to compete with any of those teams in a playoff series. Lakers don't have enough defense. You expect them to be in the Top 5?
Unfortunately I think it's very obvious we are the worst in the group. If us and the Spurs have a good start to the season this will be a crazy deep group.
Oh certainly agree. The great thing about the cup is its a crazy small sample size. Blazers were 2-2 in the cup last year. Maybe this year we get a game at home we somehow squeak a win out, than an opponent which is injured and we win that too. We lose 3rd game but that opponent isn't leading the group.Unfortunately I think it's very obvious we are the worst in the group.
I just don't see any downside to the cup.
To each their own - I found this to be one of the best courts I've ever seen with the Blazers or even in any basketball game; The extremely hideous obnoxious ugly distracting courts are my #1 complaint about it.
