I honestly don't see any free agents in our price range that would really improve our team. I see a couple reclamation projects and buy low candidates, but no one that represents a clear upgrade. Even if we had the full MLE, there isn't anyone outside of Zbo, and it's debatable whether 8m would be enough to land him.

1 year, is a quarter of 4 years. Or 1/4th. Or 25%.
Thanks for that. So what does Philly getting to the cap floor with a 1 year contract tgat hurts nothing, have to do with Crabbe and Turner

Gut feeling, a big if at this point though, teams looking to add Free agents (Nets, Suns) might strike out and feel it's better to trade for an over paid youngish player (Crabbe, Meyers), than to strike out completely.

To say the Blazers are done and set on day 2 of free agency is a bit premature.

Well let's be honest, anyone puffing about Neil not making a move yet probably isn't thinking too hard about it anyways. It makes much more sense that we would be active later in FA when players can be had at what we can offer, or as you said teams are looking for a consolation prize.

Neil did shit the bed last offseason, I understood the Crabbe and Harkless contracts and I convinced myself that the Turner and Meyers deals were fair market value but holy shit...

I said it last summer, and I'm still holding out hope that I won't be wrong, but keeping Crabbe should have been about holding onto him as an asset and then trading him. I said last summer that if we don't trade Crabbe by the end of this summer, I will concede it was a stupid move by Neil. It's not looking good.

Last summer was a horrible situation. The cap went way up, a bunch of GMs (Neil included) acted like a 12 year old that just got their birthday money and couldn't wait to spend it. Now the cap went down and here we are.

That's what I'm hoping for. I'm hoping Brooklyn will want to roll with a Allen/Leonard Center rotation.

Just gonna throw this out there:

Greg Monroe and Spencer Hawes are almost an identical match in terms of salary to Meyers, Aminu, and Davis.

We did want Monroe and tried to sign Hawes several years ago.

Who would say no?

BKN Gets: 2018 1st, Vonleh, Aminu, Turner, Leonard,
POR Gets: Booker, Lin, $17M in savings.

I would be very hesitant to trade our 2018 pick at this point. With the west getting much better I could easily see that being a lotto pick.

We would have apx. $10M in cap space next year if Lin opted out. That's with Harkless and Crabbe still on the roster.

Well we'd protect it as much as we could.

Me. I'd much rather trade Crabbe. Turner can at least handle the ball and play defense.

I'd rather send Crabbe for Lin/RHJ

Leonard/Aminu/Davis for Monroe/Hawes.

Dame/Lin/Bazz
CJ/Turner/Patty
Harkless/RHJ/Layman
Vonleh/Collins/Swanigan
Nurk/Monroe/Hawes

According to the Trade Machine the Nets would be over the Luxury Tax threshold by $11,353,661.

I don't think they want Turner.

BKN: Crabbe, Vonleh, Leonard, Diez rights, and 2018 first (top 8 protected).

POR: Lin and Booker.

Then I'd try to flip Booker and Aminu to PHX for Chandler and Jones Jr

Dame / Lin / Napier
CJ / Turner / Connaughton
Hark / Jones Jr / Layman
Collins / Davis / Swanigan
Nurk / Chandler

Cap savings galore.
