Chris Paul is NOT a Laker . . . FML

Would we even want cp3 if we could?

CP3 played 80 games last season. He's fine and in his prime. Blazer fans are now becoming paranoid about injuries to the point where they don't want one of the best PGs the NBA have ever seen.

Don't know if this is posted anywhere; Lakers just traded Odom for Dallas' first round 2012 pick. I believe they will now try to get Paul again using this draft pick, as that seems what the commissioner wanted.

**BREAKING NBA NEWS**Source: My report was 100% correct (Lakers / NO / Rockets) had deal for a 2nd time & YES David Stern rejects it again!

Why is this guy surprised that a rebuilding team trading the best PG in the game for fringe prospects and overpaid declining players wouldn't be interested?

First, how does this Odom/draft pick trade work; I know the new CBA makes it easier to trade but don't the salaries have to match up? Interesting that LA is so desperate that they would trade a valuable asset to their main competitor. Interesting that apparently no other team in the league thought Odom worth a first round pick.

Will this make the Paul trade work now? I think that the criticism was so great and since the league put out the word that NO needed to get draft picks (even if this late a pick seems almost worthless), that it will go through, especially if Houston adds something (although I'm not sure why they would, I don't really think Pau will be that good without Kobe to kick his ass).

According to the Los Angeles Times, the Lakers will receive a 2012 first-round pick from Dallas and possibly a second-round pick, plus an $8.9 million trade exception in the deal. It's an astonishingly low price that Dallas will pay for Odom, and the latest indication that the times and priorities may be changing in L.A. With Lakers executive Jim Buss, the son of owner Jerry Buss, heading the operation these days, the Odom trade will do little to change the opinion of those who believe they Lakers are "in cost-cutting mode," as one source close to the situation said. "I think the Buss' kids are now running the team, for the most part, and they're trying to make as much money as they can," the source said. "Everything is changing there."

I wonder how she'll adjust to Dallas? It's a big-ish city but it's unbelievably mediocre.

I'm not sure what the Lakers can do with an 8.9 million exception....

They can't get Hedo with it. I do think Dwight is probably heading there though, the Magic seem to dislike the Nets' offer.

Will they trade him at all? That's the question.

You'd definitely have to take out Babbitt and insert Batum and possibly Freeland. That's their whole goal: young players.

Babbitt is young but that's the only thing he has going for himself.

What are you talking about Fez? Babs is the best young prospect in the NBA. Didn't you hear? He's the next Larry Bird.

The question is, can the Hornets trade him this season or is he forbidden because of the league?

They can trade him but the owners (League) have guidelines: They are trying to rebuild and want young players.

It's the reason why Odom (32), Scola (31), Martin (28) and the mediocre prospects (Patterson, Dragic) was never close. The mid to late first round picks they would have gotten (DAL, LAL) was not something you'd consider a sweetener.

What is CP3's value at this point though? The guy has questionable health, a questionable attitude, and apparently the league is calling the shots.

Kupchak trying to get away with highway murder robbery.

Not this time mowafuggah.

I wonder whether OKC might make a play for CP3. He is a better fit with Durant than Russel Westbrook and OKC has a ton of young players.

After failing to satisfy trade proposal mandates for the NBA-owned New Orleans Hornets, the Los Angeles Lakers ended trade talks for Chris Paul on Saturday night, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.

As the Lakers changed course, they traded Lamar Odom to the Dallas Mavericks into a trade exception and set course in pursuit of Orlando Magic center Dwight Howard

I'm not sure if Stern hurt or helped the Lakers, but looks like Paul going to the Lakers is not going to happen.

Laker fans on various message boards are acting like the 99%.

"The NBA is so rigged"

Ironical aint it? :devilwink:

giving away odom for free to a direct competitor for the west crown is headscratching to say the least...wtf

The Buss kids are all about profit. In cost-cutting mode.
