So, Roy looks done. He played too much in game 1 and it hurt us.

My suggestion: play him at the 2 when DeShawn Stevenson is on the floor. Here's why:
1. He looks much more tentative than he should, even with no meniscus. I think he's overthinking being the backup point. McMillan played him as a PG early in the season and it failed. Then there was a short stretch when he was playing SG and he was at least adequate, hitting the odd buzzer beater. Let him be a pale shadow of what he used to be rather than being a pale shadow of Steve Fucking Blake.
2. This way he's not guarding anyone who can score. Stevenson can't take ANYONE off the dribble.
3. This is a way to flatter his ego while at the same time dramatically reducing his minutes. Stevenson doesn't play much.

Downside: benching Matthews. But I think Matthews can take it. And a bench squad of Matthews, Batum and Rudy is pretty awesome. Also Patty should get some burn as backup PG, particularly against that annoying little pest Barea.

Am I missing something? What does the "X" stand for?

Default sig when posting from my phone. I could have it say "sent via tapatalk". Its more for me so I know when I'm posting on my phone. But yeah sometimes autocorrect fucks posts up.

Horrible idea. I want Roy in there as little as possible. He's horrible on D, he can't shoot, he won't attack and finish, he just kicks to Camby or Miller with the shot clock running down. He's a total liability and we don't need him to win games anymore. I expect Nate to sit Roy for most of the game on Tuesday. This is a business, feelings be damned.

Someone didn't read the original post...

Maybe this is something we should have experimented with during the regular season but not the playoffs unless injuries dictate a need to change the starting lineup.

I vote no.

Let's also run a shit load of ISO's for hm and freeze Aldridge out of the offense evern more than he already does

I never bought the notion that Miller couldn't play with Roy. The irony is that now it's plainly obvious Roy can't play with Miller. He sucks even worse on defense than Miller, leaving us trying to compensate for two sub-par perimeter defenders, while also sucking away ball movement as he incessantly dribbles at the top of the key, fantasizing about how he could break down defenders if he could just...get...his knees back.

Roy should only see playing time when Miller is on the bench and we don't really have any sort of organized offense and Roy can match up against Dallas' smaller backup guards.

Roy looks so tentative....alot of times he gets into the lane and passes the ball out. he needs to look to score

What I don't understand is that Roy used to be a decent shooter. He could shoot the three, he could shoot the mid-rangers..... do you need good knees for that?

My bad. Blinded by the title of the thread. I still don't like it. Playing him with Miller is not good even for a few minutes. We don't need to stroke Roy's ego right now. Not a priority. We need to do what it takes to WIN.

His shot has flattened out considerably, which could certainly be attributed to knee or leg problems.

I vote for this. Roy is next to useless out there.

Our only hope is the CBA.

$14,940,153

$16,359,805

$17,779,458

This is what Roy is due to receive after this season. He's simply not an NBA player anymore. The worst contract in pro sports right now.

Like most players, Roy is more effective when he's The Man and everyone defers to him. Now that he's the one having second thoughts before each shot, his percentage goes down.

Amen. I respect Roy for his past accomplishments, but I'm getting sick of his denial in terms of his body not being this issue and it's all "mental." I've seen him rim checked too many times on easy buckets to believe it's anything other than his bum knees. We simply can't expect to get much better with a bench player like him killing our cap.

So, Roy looks done.
This is the only part of your post I agree with.

I was hoping that Roy had something left for the playoffs, and that he was going to take it up a level, but he just can't. He's completely done, as far as I can tell.

He looked horrible....

Routinely abused on defense and provided nothing on offense, he did have 1 nice dish, but other than that was a waste out there....and why Nate kept him out there instead of going back to Matthews or Rudy, either would have been better in the 4th quarter.

and then today you have Canzano of all people defending Roy, and having to read Roy say that it is all mental? Really?..REALLY??????

This is a guy who averaged over 20ppg, was an All-Star nearly unstoppable 1v1 and now he is stating that the reason he can't score is because he is unsure of his role?

BULLSHIT...

He keeps saying his knees are fine, and it very well may be that they don't HURT anymore per se but he certainly has been robbed of any explosiveness or even a shred of lateral quickness that he had, and apparently he can't even hit an open jumpshot anymore?

The bottom line is he has lost considerable athleticism as a result of his knees and he is STILL struggling with his ego of what he once was but will NEVER again be.

Nate needs to go to a 7 man rotation, put Roy in for a run in the 2nd quarter and if he doesn't show any spark then send him back to the bench and leave him there....the team is much better off having Batum\Matthews or even Rudy out there.

The cansucko piece on Roy really touched me. It's sad that fans have packed it in on him so easily. Regardless if Roy is done or not; it's just sad that some fans wish he was dead or he should be gone. Amazing really.

I'm waiting for him to have one of those epic games. When that happens; I won't mind welcoming back a lot of those fickle fans that gave up on him so early.

Wishing him dead is absolutely stupid, he is a basketball player for goodness sakes not the devil. But clearly this is Canzano's way of over-sensationalizing the situation (Roy's condition) to make his point and strike a chord with Blazer fans.

You look at what POR owes Roy and then watch him on the floor and listen to his excuses for his play off the floor and there shouldn't be any doubt that if the Blazers can dump him and his contract they need to do so as soon as possible. He will never live up or come close to earning the amount that is owed to him.

How can I fucking argue with you; when you have the hot ass chic as your avatar?!?!?! Complete distraction!!!!!

I am not making excuses, nor do I think anyone else should either. BUT... The dude is only 2.5 months past surgery. Realistically, not too many players in the league would even come back and play. For that, I really commend him. He doesn't want to give up, nor should us fans.

Dead is way to extreme. Never in a million years would I wish death on anyone, let alone a great guy and someone who carried our team to be relevant again before his injuries. However, gone is something I would agree with because it is painfully obvious he is not an NBA player anymore and really, it is thinking about him and his future. Everything I have heard is if he keeps playing he can really risk even more pain/injuries as he gets older. I really feel like we should retire his jersey, but at this point, we have to cut or losses, if he is non-existent on offense and we know he will keep getting burned on defense, what does he bring?

I will say this over and over again. Keep in mind that he had two surgeries on both his knees only 3.5 months ago. There aren't too many players that would even come back in the same season like Roy. Him even being on the floor is an anomaly. Sorry but I am not in the popular opinion as everyone else that thinks Roy is done. Maybe he's done this season, but I think the kid has a lot of great games left in his tank.

But hey, everyone wants him gone, then so be it. He will just go on another team and torch us for 20+ every game. Why not?!?! Stick it to us fans that was willing to throw him out at the first sign of trouble.

You're making it sound like Roy just had ACL surgery or micro-fracture and was fine before that. 2.5 months ago he had a minor scope of both knees cleaning them out, there is not an extended recovery period for that procedure. If there was a more major surgery to fix his knees he would have done that but multiple surgeons have said there’s nothing they can do about his knees, they are forever damaged. The final meniscus removal he had with the rush back for last years playoffs were the final straw that broke his knees. If he can fill in for spot minutes off the bench that’s fine, but we shouldn’t play him minutes out of loyalty and potentially sacrifice playoff wins just because he was a better player years ago.
