Jody Allen’s net worth in 2024 stands at an impressive $20.3 billion, largely inherited from her late brother Paul Allen’s estate. Her wealth is bolstered by her ownership of the Seahawks, and the Portland Trail Blazers, worth $3.08 billion, along with a minority stake in the Seattle Sounders FC. (What I stated is cited all over the place as her net worth.)
I’m sure she is worth quite a bit but there are issues right now with how things must be handled. I’d love to have those issues so I’m not calling them problems.
Point being Bert Kolde does not have the money to buy the team but if we want Jody to just keep it then sure I guess she could,
My bigger point is I want new ownership and I know this one isn’t good. Losers are losers and both Jody and Bert are losers.

She doesn't own any of that.

that 20.3B was the value of Paul Allen's estate in 2018. Pretty huge coincidence that JA's net worth in 2024 was supposedly 20.3B. I don't believe anybody who is guessing her net worth has a clue where the PA estate ends and her net worth begins

Jody has produced films, digital media investments and distributed 469 million dollars in charitable donations to around 1400 foundations. She's made a fortune as president of Vulcan outside of sports and still also invested heavily in 3 sports franchises. She's a cofounder of Vulcan and folks talk like she's just been riding Paul's coattails all these years. I think she's an impressive woman and have no problem with her chapter as a custodian of the Blazers post Paul. She's generated a lot of wealth and recently sold Paul's 100 acres of undeveloped land in Beverly Hills....the lady is no slouch. Never got the hate other than she's a quiet personality. I'd say she's part of the Cronin hiring and extension so that ties into the thread. No matter what, the lady has serious fuck you money.

I did think the half-court offense looked better with Ayton in there. Especially during the dreaded 8-game win streak. I am hoping that all the other teams' GMs hate him as much as some of our fans, so we can resign him cheap. He and Deni were building some chemistry. I just think he and Clingan are a good combination. One for D and one for O.

Having said that, I am all for trading him for someone like Sabonis. But that seems unlikely.
We never had an 8 game win streak

I have to chuckle at the notion of giving Cronin credit for a "14 win improvement" this year. Did people already forget that Portland deliberately tanked last year? If last year's Blazer team had actually tried to win games like this year's team did, how many games would they have won? 28? 31? 33?

but sure, let's go with the feel-good version. Reminds me of the 2015-16 season when the Blazers over-achieved the Vegas over/under by 17 games, advanced to the playoffs, and won in the 1st round. What was ignored was that the Blazers beat the Clippers in the 1st round after Blake Griffin and Chris Paul were injured. No matter, the organization definitely took that as a vindication of Olshey-vision and doubled down. Actually, management quadrupled down and Olshey went on that massive spending spree 2 months after those playoffs that hamstrung the team for years. The joys of context-free planning

I remember, it must have been 2018 or 2019, when it was announced the Blazers had signed Olshey to a big extension. I got a raft of shit (at RealGM) because I had been railing about Olshey being incompetent for 3 or 4 years. I wasn't the only one trashing Olshey, but the big majority of Blazer fans were fine with the job Olshey had done.

now, I was 110% negative on Olshey and I'm nowhere near that negative of Cronin....maybe 57% negative; or 62% depending on the day. I wasn't surprised by the extension. But then I've been saying all season the Blazers were not going to make changes. I didn't think Cronin would make any trade before the deadline; and he didn't. And right now, I anticipate Chauncey will be back, and the roster will be almost the same next season. I know a lot of people are happy with that. I'm not but my antipathy about the Blazer direction is pretty high right now

Fuck ownership and Cronin -- all i got to say

this is a cost saving move -- a new GM would prolly want more money

Uh okay, I don't agree but part of the problem is we don't know how much decision making power he has or how limited he might be upper mgmt.
That's why I don't think we can do better. I think there is too much medling and nobody that has any prospects would be interested in the job.

Good deal. Now lets get Chauncey extended.

Pick up a few offensive pieces to go along with that top five defense he's built.

Whilst not all that surprising, still irritating. But is what it is I suppose.

Deserves his team option picked up.

My question is are their other suiters?

How does the 8th spot have so much more success than the 9th? It’s ridiculous.

He’s built? Cronin has added Camara, Avdija, Clingan. Before them where were the Blazers under the Conductor?

Give Stotts those guys and the D would be every bit as good. And the offense would be much better.

As much as I do not like Cronin the Deni trade bought him a little time in my eyes but if the next season starts and he has not trimmed this roster from the worthless vet's ( 1 or 2 ) then this offseason will be a utter failure.

As much as I do not like this - the move that I fear is coming is giving Billups an extension now that would be a complete mistake but that is another topic all together.

why do people keep saying that? Portland ranks 17th in defense, not 3rd or 4th. There wasn't a different HC in the first week of the season and then Chauncey joined the team at the all-star break

Chauncey's defenses have ranked 30th-->27th-->23rd-->17th....that's decent improvement, but you'd have to somehow account for this being the first season when the Blazers didn't tank in the last 2-3 months of the year. Maybe if they had played to win all of last season, they would have had quite a bit better record and better defensive rating

I'd also be really curious if Portland's upward trend in defensive rankings coincided with Ayton going out and Clingan starting; and to a lesser extent with Grant going out and Avdija starting. I'd be nearly certain that's true with Ayton-->Clingan. Not so certain about Grant-->Avdija. Ayton's defense is poor

Congrats to Joe! I've read that Bert Kolde might buy the Blazers too. Chauncey will get an extension now as well I'd guess unless he just doesn't want one.
Wash your mouth out with soap, young man!
