A lot in here feel this way, but I think we can/should get something for Nurk. He's not gonna get us Wemby, but his contract isn't as bad as most make it out to be and when healthy is a top-half, big bodied C...

He's not a toxic asset.

It is not toxic but it is not easily tradable. Would you give up a first for him?
 
I know Simmons contract is ridiculous, and he’s scared to shoot the ball, but did his defense get bad too???

For one, I didn't say we'd get a 1st for him, I just said we shouldn't dump him. Every team's situation is different, so we're not trading him in a vacuum here. Some teams need Cs -- if BKN caves in trading Claxton, THEY will need one.

I'd be fine with a young prospect, a 2 and a TPE for Nurk. Or like I said, Whitehead and a TPE. We won't be getting the moon for him, but we should be maximizing his value.

No, his D did not get worse. His health is the main question. They were playing well before he got hurt. He still has value with his 2-year contract. He is at least as healthy as Nurk which is why I think the trade is good for us.

Yeah but if I am a Nets fan, I would counter with they need to give the Blazers fewer picks because Simmons still has value and they gave up a lot to get him. And using their huge TPE on Nurk instead of someone else is not exactly going to get me excited if I am a Nets fan. It is a fair package and asking for Whitehead seems too much.

Yeah, it probably is but it also takes all pressure off of Cronin and Billups.

The thing that isn't just the most logical path is to continue to tell Dame you'll get stuff done and do the opposite thing on purpose until he asks out so you can make him the bad guy. That's weak ass bullshit! That is probably the only reason Dame is being a dick about where he is going, to get back at Cronin. That's even if Dame is forcing that trade. I guess we'll see but unless I see a sourced report that Joe found a team besides Miami who would give up more and Dame said he'd sit out or some shit, I'm not buying it. Sure I think Dame wants to go to Miami but I don't think he's doing what people in here are accusing him of because of one flimsy report from Sam Amick.

They do have two huge TPEs. One from the KD trade and one from Joe Harris.

You seem really sure that Dame is dictating things. Joe should just find the best trade package he can get from a team that could reasonably compete and pull the trigger... see what Dame does. Until we see a legit report that Dame is willing to sit out games or anything like that you are pissed off about a rumor that is based on one report.

agree....Dame is the one that has proven he is honest and straight forward. Cronin made a mistake from day one in overselling what he was willing to do. Not convinced he was lying but not convinced he was willing to go all in and build around Dame. Which was misleading. Dame knows the truth.

I used to be all about acquiring Ben but even back then before most of you were proven right that it wasn't a super short term problem... even then I said you would have to get Ben on the phone with Chauncey and get him to sign off on the deal before it was made.

I don't mind this from Dame. He's asking someone with a public voice, not just some random troll to explain how he has misled anyone. He gave clear warning that the situation had changed and if the team chose to go young they were choosing that over him.
