Dame asks for trade (And there it is)

I'm getting annoyed by the hour that he's not come out and debunked this Miami is the only place Im going to.

He's not doing us any solids and it's really starting to get to me.

He should have come out on IG and made the trade announcement publicly. He should have told the fans why he was doing it. He should have clearly stated what he wanted.

I am happy with Simmons, Jovic, and Jaquez plus a couple of 1sts.
I am just not expecting any of the picks to come from the Nets if Simmons is involved. Maybe if Herro is traded to the Nets for something else, but not for Simmons. Isn't that the conversation?

They have to give us a pick to take that albatross.

And we have to get a ton of picks for Dame. That draft capital is going to be the real gems. 2 picks is not even close. Gobert got 5.

pretty sure you get fined for that

I'm sure his agents and PR have some reason he's not saying it. But for all the times he's been transparent, it irritates me that the time we need him to be the most transparent, he's not.

Of course it is, you're entitled to your opinions. But whether or not the Nets will offer value to dump Simmons is at least a somewhat different conversation than discussing potential trade packages... The league tea leaves seem to suggest that they both value Herro and want to dump Simmons, I thin that's why most of us are leaning in that direction...

Who are Jackson and Chiang? They're writers for the Miami Herald. Their sources are probably in the Heat front office. So I don't believe this shit. Don't get me wrong I'm not saying it can't be true I just find it highly dubious due to who it's coming from.

I already assume the Miami guys are representing Dame's side in this too. I have no reason at all to doubt Dame wants only to go to Miami. I'll say it here as a definite prediction: Dame will eventually "say" (leak, rumor, whatever) he won't play for any other team if traded. He will try to force us into a bad trade if it gets him what he wants.

Then all he needs to do to restore his good name is come out and deny it.
He doesn't have to. Everyone in here thinks that they are specifically owed a day to day explanation from Dame and I think that's ridiculous. Dame will put out a huge big deal thing thanking the fans here for everything but right now he has obviously decided to go radio silent. I think he was trying to appease people like you when he said that it's in his blood to take the high road. He isn't going to say much more than that right now. That might be on advice from his agent or his personal preference or maybe things aren't that sour between him and our FO and they've asked him to keep his mouth shut, regardless he doesn't owe us as fans anything. He's shown us his character for over a decade, I believe he will again when this is all said and done.

This is interesting. These guys might just be talking out of their asses but they don't sound like they think Dame would veto trades to other contenders.

"When all is said and done" would be too late if he goes to Miami. Dame needs to control the narratives he can control. He's fucking us by not coming out and debunking. It's not that we the fans want it for our own sanity, but for the betterment of offers that can come from him saying that.

No one should be mad he asked for the trade. But I can't blame a damn person for being upset he's not debunking this "only going to Miami" narrative. The silence is speaking volumes and it kills our teams chances of having a better offer on the table. And that to me is bullshit.

I don't know what Dame's relationship is like right now with the Blazers front office but I wouldn't blame Dame if it's sour. Again there are a lot of reasons he might be keeping his mouth shut. I don't remember one player in the history of the league after a trade demand was made public doing what you're asking for Dame to do. If it's just slipping my mind please remind me.

Not remotely my point, that's what this place is for. Just seems like you're letting that one detail irritate you a lot. Most of us don't know every detail of the CBA but very clearly the tenor of the conversation has been "take MIA for all they're worth". We can leave the nuances of who owes what picks to the professionals. I don't think anyone including that pick that Miami may or may not be able to offer changes anything about the overall conversation...

I'm not irritated at all. I was just playing fantasy basketball, or I guess fantasy GM

the benefits package sucks though

Well he can’t veto anything and he’s not sitting with a 50 mil paycheck waiting, not including endorsements. Portland has more power than the national media wants to acknowledge.
I agree, I actually doubt he's even trying to veto anything. He has never said anything about Miami being the only destination and I don't think it's his job, especially if Miami is his first choice to go out of his way to clarify that.

I think what he owed us as fans is to give it everything he had while he was playing for us and that's it. He did way more than that in the way he did service for this city and the way he represented himself and in so doing us.

Now people in this forum are killing the dude over not saying anything the last two days. Get over yourselves, this is about his life but this is about a hobby of ours. That means this means everything for Dame and his family and it has little to no actual effect on us as fans. There's real life shit and being a fan and those two things are worlds apart. Let this play out and then feel whatever fucking way you want to or jump to all sorts of conclusions based on nothing. Again, I'm responding to this post from @LayneStaley but this is directed at everyone regarding this.

What's the best deal we could come up with for Philly?

If Maxey and Harden are going out, what could they get to send to us for Dame?

Dame to Philly
Harden to Houston for picks/young players?
Maxey to Brooklyn? Utah?

I'm not really sure what value Maxey has.

am I the only one noticing that all of these reports of Dame being "unwavering" in his Miami desire....are coming out of Miami?

Riley is a fucking viper in the weeds
That's what these GMs are supposed to be. I worry that by no fault of Dame's that Cronin is going to get hustled by one of the greatest all time minds in this sport's history.

again, when you track those reports of Dame wanting Miami exclusively, all the reports are coming out of Miami

Pat Riley is trying to work a big con on the rest of the NBA

Yeah, I wanna know what Maxey can get us back in a 3 team deal. If it was Tobias and Maxey outgoingfor Dame(let them figure out Harden on their own), Maxey obviously doesn't have a spot here. But am sure other teams would be enticed
