Dame asks for trade (And there it is)

The Nets make out like bandits!

Yeah, I should have increased the picks from them. I only had them at 4 because of the haul I was thinking from Houston, but taking out Houston would require at least one more pick.

I don't have a person either and it's probably some agent BS, and maybe it's because Dame is built different I have a different expectation which ultimately falls on me. I just dont want this to be true where he's fucking our team on the way out.
Me neither. I guess we might see. I would love to say that we'll just have to wait and see but unless people air the laundry after this process is done we might never know. Shit even if people try to air the laundry after this we won't know for sure if they're telling the truth.

The situation sucks. If Dame is forcing his way to Miami and in so doing, he's fucking over our team, that's not cool but I kind of understand why he might feel like it's OK. If he's already decided that Cronin had been lying to him for two years after Olshey had done the same for several he could have a certain mindset. If that's where Dame's head is at then I could see him doing what he can to get himself where he wants and not giving a fuck about where it leaves our team.

I wouldn't be too mad at him for it because it seems like the logical reaction if he came to a realization that all of that loyalty he has shown was only going one way... and for me I don't want to hear about the money showing him loyalty... he has made this franchise more money than they've paid him you can bet on that. That shit was transactional but the stuff we're talking about is personal, it's about his legacy and our team's legacy.

I agree Cronin is untested, but if Dame was that instrumental in the Grant trade, Grant would want to renegotiate his contract so he gets out ASAP after Dame leaves, since he was the only reason Grant wanted to be here.
Dude Jerami just got paid and he'll probably get out at the trade deadline with all of that money.

Yeah, I am absolutely on board the Simmons for extra picks wagon. Play him as a center that can run the break and is another ball-handler when the Blazers get bogged down in the half-court. That's absolutely fine.
Actually Simmons might be a closer billups type player then Dame. Simmons rebounds and he pushes the pace and he is good defender. If his mind is right then he pretty good player his one flaw in his game he is not going shoot the outside shot. The thing is I said that when he came out of college. But we actually got enough of those players that can shoot that shot to makeup for his short coming. I would welcome Simmons in a trade if he is healthy.

I'd rather have Gene Simmons, and he's kind of a meat fuck now as well. A rich meat fuck.

Then it won't be the Blazers paying it to him. Likely won't be able to trade him at the deadline.

What happened to all the players he was saying wanted to come to Portland and play with him here? What did he do that was so loyal? not ask for a trade earlier?

Who gives a shit.... nobody is signing here anyway. Nobody asked to come here when Dame was happy. This is the biggest load of crap.

Tend to agree with that. If this is for FAs, those guys don't play here anyway. If it's for agents, agents are going to get the best deal for their players the vast majority of the time and would sign with the scum of the earth if it paid well. If it's to re-sign the guys on the roster now, well, you've got years to treat them right and make them understand you did the best for the franchise which was the best for them, and Dame was the one working to hold them back.

I wouldn't blink if I were Cronin. I think Dame has a lot more to lose right now, and if they want to play it this way, this really stands to blow up in his face.

I get what you're saying about the mindset and how it changed. I do. Which hopefully means this drags out a bit longer and cooler heads can prevail. Cause I'm never going to be okay with Dame fucking over the team for a vendetta. I can understand it, but I'd never be okay with it. That'd tarnish a lot of goodwill, in my eyes. I realize it's an emotional response now but I just can't be okay him fucking over our team because of a slight. Again, I get the emotions he's feeling if it's the case, but damn.

But there's still time.

Apparently it was PJ fucking Tucker..... whoop-a-dee-doo.

I’ll take what

I went to HS with him. I can say with all certainty that he has no more inside knowledge than any of you on here…..and THAT is saying a lot.

Was he a giant boner back then too?

What, if we appease Dame and screw ourselves, FA's will suddenly want to come here? Please.

"Yeah, did you see how the Blazers screwed over Dame by giving him the super-max, letting him in on the management of the team and putting his cousin on the roster for two years? F those guys! They don't know how to treat players!"

How did that "leverage" workout when he traded CJ? How about Norm? He asked where they preferred to go and got almost nothing back for them. I expect better this time, but I don't think we're getting back a can't miss prospect. Just late 1st round prospects with draft picks.

The LAC trade was bad, no question. But every GM loses their first trade, it's kinda just how it goes.

In hindsight, I think it's hard to argue that we didn't win the CJ trade, but a pretty significant margin -- which is it's own lesson to learn in any Dame trade, but that's besides the point.

Also note that I mentioned that he *DID NOT* have the same kind of leverage that he does in this situation.

On NBA Today, Marc Spears of ESPN and Andscape shared he's heard Jayson Tatum is recruiting Damian Lillard to join the Celtics.

Less than a month ago, Bleacher Report's Chris Haynes stated it's "pretty safe to say" the seven-time All-NBA guard isn't interested in taking his talents to Boston. But perhaps Tatum's sales pitch proves effective.

That means the Celtics could acquire him without parting with Jaylen Brown. A package of Malcolm Brogdon, Robert Williams, Payton Pritchard, Justin Champagnie, three first-round picks, plus pick swaps, could top an offer from the Heat centered around Tyler Herro joining the Trail Blazers or going elsewhere in a three-team deal.

However, it's unlikely that proves the best proposal Portland receives. Boston could bolster it by including Derrick White, though.

Lol no.....

I can't wrap my head around this perspective... We're going to have to take back salary somewhere. Simmons is almost a zero risk asset to take on (with the caveat that we're getting added value to take him)... Who cares what he is or isn't, his literal worst case scenarios are zero risk. Anything better than that, while getting paid to take him is gravy (and he still has a massive ceiling).

I want to hear that Mikal Bridges or Markkanen is recruiting him.

When it gets in this ballpark , give us a call back.

Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, Jae Crowder, four first-round picks and a 2028 draft swap
