Loyal to the soil or a merchant of snake oil?

Good luck to him, but it's not a great look.
Drafting Scoot was a direct shot and then Joe said he would push all of our chips in around Dame again. This isn't Dame this was Joe not having it in him to be honest and forcing Dame's hand. When you are person like Dame with so much loyalty and are facing people who are disloyal to you, I don't think it's reasonable to treat disloyalty with continued loyalty. Dame said well in advance of the draft what needed to happen and the team did the opposite. Dame didn't want it to go this way, the team did.

Jovic/Jaquez/Herro/Salary Filler/2 1s/2 swaps

That’s my guess and I’m not happy. Anything less will make me puke.

I do think Herro is shipped somewhere else immediately.

Why not? They both built through the draft and made smart moves. Denver dumped Iverson, Melo and Iggy to go through the patient youth movement. Luck is a part of it (Jokic and Giannis), but we also got lucky with Shaedon and Scoot.

The parallels are obvious to me.

We don't have luck on our side.

Maybe now people will always believe actions over words.

When almost every move in the past year has been cutting costs and getting younger - even though Cronin kept saying we’re building around Dame….

There is a fifth dimension beyond that which is known to man. It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity. It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition, and it lies between the pit of man's fears and the summit of his knowledge. This is the dimension of imagination. It is an area which we call "The Twilight Zone".
Is Ben Simmons a scrub there too?

I’ll watch Dame a bit and definitely in the playoffs. His new team is not my favorite.
Best deal for Portland to a team that gives him “a shot” after the trade.

Brooklyn — Nurkic into their new TPE. Simmons + Claxton + maximum AND best picks. If possible, dueling sign and trades of Grant and CamThomas.

Btw where did this thread go? It is not on the front page.
Yes it is. I merged like four threads so it might be a browser/refresh issue for you.

Dude, ownership and front office forced him out. Dame didn't do anything wrong at all. He asked for the bare minimum and they wouldn't spend the money to put a team around him.

He deserves a bigger stage.

Like for real, dame was fucking transparent about it all. And he got fed up. I would have been fed up too! Like damn.

Hope Cronin don’t make the same mistake as Olshey. Need to build around Scoot now and don’t wait until he’s 30 years old

Well…. Like I said yesterday and some people wanted to argue… signing Grant didn’t mean shit for keeping Dame happy. Grant was chasing his money and wanted his biggest deal. Didn’t matter where it came from.

but unless Cronin and the front office were in a mutual coma, why the fuck would they give Grant that kind of contract if they knew there was a chance that Dame might ask out?

5 years...what the fuck?

Joe is gonna trade Dame exactly where he wants to go(Miami) then when he doesn’t get fair value he’s gonna say he was hamstringed by being loyal to the greatest Blazer ever. He will use Dame as the excuse for being a shitty negotiator.

because having that slot is necessary, and two way forwards don’t grow on trees. In a year they will ship him off. The contract may not get us back a lot, but it will give us something, and we need to hit the salary floor anyways

Oh, and we now have our timeline chosen lol. Yay?
Yes. In 5 years when the space squid’s attack Miami, Boston, Los Angeles, and the Bay Area we will have our best shot since ‘77 at winning a championship.

Jokic and Giannis aren't sub-6'6, so, no parallels.

same thing I said yesterday. do you let him walk for nothing? Look at some of the contracts that have been moved around. He’s an asset. You don’t let assets walk away for free.

I kinda find it a relief. We can start to move on, speed up the rebuild, etc. But requesting a trade and granting it are two different things. If I’m Cronin, I wait for a fair deal. You have this motherfucker signed to a massive contract - do not cave (Cronin is a ball-less bastard, so he inevitably will).

I'm with you.

And he will cave. He has proven that.

Woj just listed the Clippers, Heat and Spurs as his preferred destinations.

If I’m Portland, I’m looking at the Spurs. I believe they have a ton of 1st picks available.
