Blow up the whole thing? We had the 5th worst record in the league and only one all star caliber player… what is there to blow up LOL. It’s not worth a try if you have to give up the 3rd pick in a loaded draft. It may take decades to get another top 3 pick.
Had Dame not been shut down, and Grant as well , i clearly doubt they wouldn't have at least made the playin.

Hopefully, the Blazers hit that home run.
#3 pick is the 2nd highest pick the Blazers have had since 1984. That's a great opportunity to take a swing to knock it out, fastball right up the middle. Trading it for a veteran single isn't what this franchise needs.

They Tanked as a purpose to add assets to become more competitive.
I feel like the Blazers have been doing this for all of Cronin tenure and nearly all of Olshey. Blazers are nowhere close to contending. At some point adding a player or tweak as you say just isn't going to matter.
I Said PLAYERS, plural. And add a tweak , here or there. Meaning what Joe and his Staff are trying to do.

Listen to what you just said… a team only good enough to make the play in game smh.
Yes, i meant Playin. As in you have a chance to get in the playoffs. Add a few PLAYERS, plural, and a tweak, here or there, and maybe you can contend. You're going to disagree no matter what they do, unless they trade Dame, and pick some draft pick to change the fortunes.

If you wait a couple years to start over, you lost the 3rd pick in this draft, and you lost any possible assets you would get for Dame… and now you have ruined the Shaedon Sharpe era for a pie in the sky attempt to be competing for a few year while Dame is 33-36.
Ruined the Sharpe Era? Seriously. He'll be 25 to 26.

Oh my God, Sharpe 23 to 26 , ruined because Blazers tried to build around Dame. Get outta here.

Honestly, i don't think much about you at all. Couldn't care less what you want, think or feel.

RIP CITY

Sure doesn't seem that way since you complain about people talking about trading Dame. Seems like we live in your head rent free.

What. He will be 23 to 26. Not 35. There is plenty of time after Dame retires for Sharpe to be built around.
At that point, you will wast another 5+ years trying to get picks and develop them, when you could have had Scoot or Miller forming a dynamic duo.

The sad part is these people get so emotional about Dame, and Dame could care less about them LOL. He’s made half a billion dollars and will be happy no matter where he end up.

want to make it clear, I'm guilty too...

...but damn this fucking place. nobody is saying anything new. Everybody has staked out their positions months ago and are just recycling the same fucking talking points, over and over and over and over

it's not any form of a discussion at this point. Just a bunch of keyboard clowns trying way too hard to win dumb pointless arguments. Nobody will convince anybody of anything. All we're doing is pissing each other off by crossing goofy lines drawn on wet sand

there has been lots if discussion about what threads should be and what threads shouldn't. I think there should be one thread reserved for tweets and such and all posted without comment. Leave all the arguing and food fights for other threads, and just have one where there is new info and rumor and speculation by people other than posters here....a thread with none of this godawful endless back-n-forth

Marang reporting Portland wants OG ‘and’ Pascal for Nurkic Ant and #3.

Sigh.

What the heck are we supposed to do? There's nothing anyone can do right now. The draft is 3 days away. Should we have Sly take the site offline until Thursday?

So has Joe not been trying to do this the last few years, or is he/staff incompetent?

It's odd you expect basically the same strategy to suddenly have a drastically different result.

didn't say shut it down. I just said I'm finding the tone and direction of threads to be unpleasant right now

It's not "a conversation."

It's "a separate conversation"

It's an important distinction. It says that they're already having a conversation. Let's assume the first conversation is "how can we build the team around Dame." So what would the separate conversation be?
So, it all comes down to the word "separate?" Maybe "separate" because the plan is to trade for player x, y, and/or z and if they can't/don't then they'll have to discuss plan b. I mean, WATCH THE DAMN VIDEO. After he says the "separate" thing he IMMEDIATELY alludes to what he had been discussing moments early, which was essentially--and I'm paraphrasing--why go somewhere else because nothing is for sure. He has said repeatedly that he wants to be here.

Ugh.... Well I guess I should be happy it's not just 3 Ant for Pascal.

Seems like we're trading away the two best young talents there for average forwards on expiring contracts that won't make us contenders.

I'd probably be much more excited for the 2023-24 season. But Id be crazy worried this is a Jermaine O'Neal 2.0 situation.

Can you ever remember a time where there was SO much uncertainty?

We don't know who's going to be there at 3. We don't know if there's going to be a trade. We don't know how serious Dame is about asking out. We don't know if Joe Cronin is a moron. We don't know how much control the Vulcans have. We don't know why it's raining in June. We don't know when this god awful inflation will go down..... WE DON'T KNOW!

True, we probably all should spend less time on this site.

I look at it as Thursday we'll have the draft then a few days later free agency and that's probably it. Nothing after that until the pre season, and these decisions could impact the next 10 years.

It's insanely rare to have a team that could go in such wildly different directions, trying to win with an all NBA player now or totally rebuild with #3 and other assets.

Who's tripping? Seems like a lot of disagreements with smart ass comments all around here. Been that was for as long as I remember.
You just made an analogy between being employed by someone and being married to someone. You're trippin.

LMAO. You weren't quoted in my post yet here you are quoting me again. Looks like i'm the one living rent free.

Go on and post another thread about "Dame giving cryptic signals that he wants to be traded" LMAO.

What's your address ? Gonna send you a new tinfoil hat

Depends what you mean by actively want him gone. I see a lot of people who think the team is better with younger assets. That's just logic. If Dame was 25 nobody would want to move him or prioritize picks/youth over building around Dame.
That's not logic, or it's faulty logic. The word you are thinking of is "opinions."

there's an irony here, personally, in that one of my biggest complaint about the Olshey era was all the fence straddling. Not picking a lane

now, with, as you said, two paths leading in such wildly different directions, I actually think straddling a fence might be the best course of action. No matter which direction Portland goes there are just too many variables and unknowns right now. It might be the worst time to pick a lane. That's why I was hot for keeping the pick, keeping Dame, and doing something like trading for DeRozan. Give Portland some breathing room to see is their pick choice was good, if a competitive team was to be had...if there was an alternate path than those two wildly different ones

if Portland does eventually end up trading Dame, I think they'd get a much better return approaching next season's trade deadline than in July
