He might have been that as well. As saying, "we need a Bigger Commitment to defense". From everyone.
 
I don’t want to trade Dame but I think CJ/Powell/Simmons/RoCo/Nurk is a more well rounded starting lineup and we know how good CJ is without Dame. Thoughts?

If you can make some of the plus that we get with Simmons, Nurk and DJJ into Myles Turner then we might have something to work with. That lineup doesn't have enough shooting for me. That being said, I want the CJ plus for Simmons trade but then I want to turn Nurk into Boucher.

If you move Dame they don't stay lotto picks. Pretty much every team in the league has too much talent on it for Dame to miss the playoffs with them.

I also don't think we would send Dame to a bad team... he's been good to this franchise.

One last point is that multiple first round picks have value no matter what team they're coming from.

Not value that is equivalent to a top 10 player in the league.

You don't deal a superstar for a bunch of 20ish picks.

The draft is a good spot to trade him. Then you know what pick you're getting to ensure it is a top 5 pick. I'd rather do a 3 team trade where simmons goes somewhere else (maybe OKC?) And we dig into their chest of goodies.

You trade Dame Nurk is outta here...he's already said it...if we insist he stays he'll be uninspired all season and depressed....if Dame is traded you need to include Nurk in the trade in my view...I don't believe for a second that Dame gets traded nor that Dame tells his trainer what career moves to make...people act like Dame is some emperor or something...he's just a guy with his own choices

If we trade Dame for Simmons, Nurk isn't exactly the best fit next to him anyway. Hopefully we could get Boucher from Toronto for Nurk... they don't have a true C and have the shooting from the rest of their starters to really make Nurk work.
 
Dame for Simmons would be nuts and I wouldnt do it. If he asked out then we can do better than Simmons imo.

It's a pretty good deal, I think. It gets us out from under Dame, makes us younger, and gives us at least as good a chance to make a playoff run as we have now.

I don't think that is the way I'd have the positions established, as Simmons would handle the ball from the point guard spot most of the time, but I don't think it really matters.

The more I think about it, the more I think this team winning anything with Dame is very very unlikely (a very good CJ trade is our only potential saving grace)... setting the expectation that it is will just create frustration from fans and Dame and when we go to trade Lillard he's going to be worth less (since he'll be older and disgruntled).

Signing McLemore and Snell should have no impact on this level of a trade. We'll just waive them if we need to.
 
Freak/Jrue is my favorite combo, they are both arguably the best defenders at their positions too.
