i suppose there is a level of 'chicken-or-egg' with this discussion here. But i think it's naive to think Dame's pressuring the FO with veiled hits of a trade request isn't hurting our case with potential FAs -- powell included.

I guess it depends on which narrative you believe, ultimately. The players will 100% talk directly to Dame. So if you're in the camp who believes that he still wants to be here and make winning happen, I don't think it'd be hard at all for other players to pick up on that. If you're in the camp that thinks Dame is 1 1/2 feet out the door, then again, I think players would pick up on that -- in which case you're probably right.

Despite all of the slant the media has put on everything, Dame has never come out and said he wanted out. To me, there's nothing wrong with wanting a better team and being outspoken about that, so I tend to think that, if anything, he's probably (hopefully?) leading the charge to bring vets in. If he's not... what are we even doing?

We'll see...

Norm is prob just working out contract incentives. Same with GTJ for the Raps.
im guessing Masai told GTJ to go find a contract to allow him to match it. In this market, think that's better than coming out with a big deal at first to a RFA.

Who has max money available?
i dont know if anyone has max money available, but even if no-one has it, he can be talking with atlanta, telling them he want max, them telling him they are not willing to give him max etc

if someone offered him max contract, hed agreed to a deal by now

we coldve sign harkless, he signed with sacramento 9 mil for two years

Yeah, an RFA taking a while to sign is a completely understandable and different thing than us taking this much time on our supposed number one priority.

Was hoping we could get him for a minimum.

we're an hour into FA. chill lol

What teams have the full MLE?

There's a ton of guys who are going to get the TP MLE and minimum who can be good this year.

heres realistic scenario

powell has agreed a deal to re-sign with portland, but olshey is waiting to leak it to woj, just to grill portland fans some

The problem is that good role players have come off the board that we could have been pursuing with the taxpayer MLE. I obviously might be overreacting but if Dame is paying attention to this... it's again the opposite of a sense of urgency.

i swear to god, im not even joking right know

fans hate him, so why wouldnt he do it

thing is, I could actually see NO doing this. Like, " I had to fly to LA to save the day and bring Norm back with me. Look at me now."

like whom?

Torey Craig and Jeff Green?

no thank you.

Batum is still on the board. Zeller is still on the board. Richaun Holmes and Avery Bradley are still on the board. etc etc. There's still like 60+ players who will be on NBA teams this next season, of which 30+ might be legit contributors, and the money is drying up.

It’ll be interesting to see how Trent responds to the big contract.
