He's really never done anything. Is it you're hoping the potential people once thought he had, comes out.

I wouldnt say he hasn’t done anything. He’s proven to be a borderline elite defender. And he’s had flashes with the ball in his hands.

I want Lauri Markkanen, 7 foot stretch 4 who shot 40% from 3 sounds better than anything else I can realistically think we will do. Is there no realistic way to grab him? S&T?

Dame/Simons
CJ/McLemore/CJ2
Norm/Nas/DJJ
RoCo/Laurie/Snell
Nurk/Zeller

Dame
CJ
Norm
RoCo
Laurie

That ^ would be a good small ball lineup

Would DJJ/2nd rounder get the deal done?

Curious how people will turn Oubre getting $12m a year from Charlotte as an Olshey problem.
Not me. I guess Oubre is in need of the cash. They are a rebuilding team. I think if he kicked ass for us, he could parlay that into a Powell type deal.

He's had the yips with his shooting last year. Brutal. But he has the ability to regain his form. It would be a good addition. But i don't see RoCo. If he's part of that deal, i like it less. Another 1 step forward, 1 back.

Justise Winslow, UFA (Grizzlies) — Another Houston native, played his trade at St. John’s High. The Athletic understands that Winslow has whittled his list down to a few teams in free agency. Winslow is still a poor shooter but he has the size and defensive versatility to be a nice piece under the right system. He was deployed as a playmaker at times last season and showed glimpses of success there.

Yea exactly what we need. Another nice offensive player with extremely terrible defense

I would love to get him. Good ball-handler and a great defender. Not as good as Simmons but a hell of a lot cheaper.

he's missed over 120 games over the last 3 seasons so I'd really want to know what injuries he had

looking at his numbers, he looks like a poor man's Evan Turner. I haven't seen that much of him though

We've already got Derek. Poor shooting part is a turn off.

I did not know about his hip injury. That explains a few things

His career never took off. The Heat had hope for him, but he just never reached the expected potential. Good dude. But marginal talent.

"not as good as Simmons" is selling that comparison quite short. winslow is a fringe rotational player on a playoff team. not worth the time or investment. we've had enough failed reclamation projects-- bring in someone who can play.

If healthy he is better than Derek. More physical on D and can handle the ball much better. If healthy he can guard most wings.

who did you have in mind? who is left?

Even washed up Millsap was better than Winslow. If we're talking reclamation projects, i might even take Ntilikina or Dennis Smith Jr. over Winslow. Or Willy Hernangomez/Patrick Patterson/Baynes as Nurk injury insurance. I'd also kick the tires in figuring out why Reggie Jackson and Schroeder don't have deals.

how about Nikiloz Tskitishvili?

Reggie Jackson played some very productive minutes in the playoffs. Wouldn’t mind having him as combo guard off bench if we trade CJ.

Portland star Damian Lillard says the Trail Blazers weren't able to get "some of the guys" they would have liked during free agency as he discussed his role in recruiting players with reporters Friday.

"When you go into free agency and things like this, you never know what happens," Lillard said during a media availability at the Tokyo Olympics. "You never know where guys are going to end up and why they go there. You just try to have conversations and convince guys to be a part of our team.

"And obviously, this go around, we wasn’t able to go out there and just get some of the guys that we would have liked, and you go down the list and you go through the guys that are out there that you like who haven’t committed to a team or was a part of your plans in free agency and you get the ones that want to be a part of what you’re doing. And I think that’s what we did."

From the Athletic. Wonder who he’s talking about. Batum and Porter for sure. Not sure who else. Nice to hear he’s been active in recruiting, but our FA options were always limited.

I bet McLemore was a guy dame wanted. As for who he wanted that they didn’t get, Porter is the best guess.
