Fischer is now saying Pistons and Pelicans are looking at Norm Powell. Ugh. Why couldn’t Lowry delay his decision?

What are they gonna do? Come in and offer him 30 mil?

Hell no...they better back the fuck off

Norman Powell’s free agency has also generated significant chatter around the NBA. Portland officials, and executives across the league, took note of Detroit’s maneuvering over the weekend, which allowed the Pistons to clear upward of $20.2 million in space. That could present an opportunity for Powell to reunite with his former head coach, Dwane Casey—ditto for a scenario where DeRozan signs with Detroit. But the Trail Blazers losing out on Powell would hold critical ramifications for their quest to refortify their roster around Damian Lillard.

There’s an expectation that Gary Trent Jr., whom Toronto traded Powell for at the deadline, will return to the Raptors on a three-year deal worth north of $50 million.

FWIW, the most the Pistons could offer Norm is a 4 year/86ish million dollar contract. Right now I'm expecting the Norm contract to come in at 4/84, which is what Schroeder declined from the Lakers. Hoping it's not higher.

Can Billups & Dame convince Powell to stay because its coming down to that, imo.

So if Norm gets 21M a year and Gary gets 15M a year....who won the trade?

Now that the dust has settled with options, the FA list is massive. I was thinking this might be impossible to find value in FA, but like 20% of the league is without a contract/team right now and some of these mid-tier guys are going to get squeezed. It's going to be a repeat of last year when the 2016 contract guys took massive pay cuts after their deals ended.

Here's what I figure might happen:

- Powell: 3 yrs, 65 mil, 4th yr team option. Unfortunately for us, I don't anticipate a discount with him.
- Olynyk: TPMLE, 2 yrs, second year player option. Never thought this was feasible, but there's too many guys available.
- Exum: Minimum 1 yr, second year player option.

I'll pass on Powell at over 31 mil per yr (your number), a hard pass, way too much, unless the 65 mil would include the 4th yr option

I think it’s roughly 21 a year, with a 4th year option. We can start the contract at about 19M and give him the standard 8% raises each year:

If we’re shooting for upside I’m all in on Otto Porter Jr. His reps are reportedly looking for the full MLE and it doesn’t look to be out there. He may have to take the tax MLE.

· The Blazers have shown no inkling they intend to move on from Damian Lillard or C.J. McCollum, and have a slew of their own free agents—Norman Powell, most notably, plus guaranteeing the $12 million for the final year of Jusuf Nurkic’s contract, which Portland is expected to do—to deal with. Ex-Blazer Nicolas Batum is on the Blazers radar, per a source, with Portland projecting to be limited with what it can spend by its $5.3 million mid-level exception.

It would be nice to sign a player who isn't likely to miss most of the season with injury.

Yay! But I thought he was going to Golden State?

why? I'd take the Nico that played in the playoffs last season for 5 mil without any issue.

How about signing someone who didn’t miss most of the season but wasn’t good enough to play half if it (including playoffs)?
