Enjoy purgatory.

Chemistry would be fine with Kawhi, a top 5 nba player when healthy. You gotta make a move when an opportunity presents itself for a small market team.

You really just like getting bounced in the playoffs. Good for you. Most of us want a legimitate contender.
He's hurt.

To me purgatory is getting a hurt player, and praying he can 1-get totally healthy, and 2- stay healthy.

So what. He could be back by playoffs, he is a better player than Dame, so naturally the best player Dame would ever play with. Better to take that chance instead of running it back and taking the chance Dame demands a trade.

He is a top 5 player. Worth the risk to go for it instead of running it back, getting bounced in the 1st or 2nd, and having Dame ask out.

They aren't going to get him, so why even debate it?

Could someone sign and trade a free agent to us for DJJ if the figures are about the same

We will not make the playoffs though

"He could be back by the playoffs". Well gee willikers. I feel better already. And he could say, "hey, I'm just not right. Sorry. Sucks to be you I'm outta here.

Enjoy running it back if that is what you really want.

We gotta take a chance. Maybe Kawhi isn't that guy. Somethings gotta happen to get us out of purgatory.

To be clear, if there is any chance you can get Kawhi without giving up Dame then sure, go for it. Even if he sits out a year. But 0% chance.

Not like he has a history of tanking the recovery process...

kawhi did everything in his power to get in los angeles and some people think he would leave

his main goal was to live & play in los angeles, he already won two chips and was two times finals mvp, he has nothing to prove

he couldve even join lebron & davis if he wanted more chips, but he said "no", god knows what steve ballmer gave him

Aren't all the contending teams gonna be hard capped, the way it's going.
Not if they follow the rules. If the don't sign and trade, use the MLE or BAE... they don't get hard capped. That's it. So they can sign their players with bird, early bird to max contracts, early bird rights to 175% of their previous salary and non bird rights to 125% of theirs and go as far over the salary cap as they please and have a taxpayer MLE every off season.

If a team had 14 players on their roster that made an all nba team during their previous contract that was three seasons or more that team could have a salary of ~560M in theory.
