I legit thought we were going to get Rodney back.
I was kinda wondering about that. It’s like we don’t want other teams to know if we are still in the game.I think it's awfully telling that we don't know how much money we're paying Zeller. It's almost as if somebody doesn't want us to know.

Can he even play any more?
it's not unusual.I think it's awfully telling that we don't know how much money we're paying Zeller. It's almost as if somebody doesn't want us to know.
At least we have confirmation on the DJ thing. And Fischer's rationale for that was that the org thinks there was a massive dropoff from starters to bench last year, and they want to address that. So it doesn't sound like upgrading the starters is really in the cards.
Man! It takes two to tangle on trades. That was always where the potential biggest move can be done. Just because it hasn't been done to comply with the impatience of some S2 posters, doesn't mean it's not being worked on. So, since some think I'm Neil, calm down, and trust the process. Gee, that sounds like GM talk.if Zeller signed for 5M, the only arrows is Portland's quiver are vet minimums and trades
there sure as hell was not any sense of urgency that Dame wanted to see in the moves made so far
I think the focus for all teams has been FA signings, there hasnt been many trades as yet. I would expect teams to now look to move players more so than up to last night.
Expect the unexpected though.
Zeller reportedly Blazers-bound

The Blazers have signed center Cody Zeller to a one-year, minimum deal to be the backup to Jusuf Nurkic, according to ESPN. Zeller will turn 29 in October and has spent his first eight seasons in Charlotte. Last season, the 6-foot-11 center averaged 9.4 points, 6.8 rebounds and 1.8 assists in 21 minutes while appearing in 48 games, 21 of them starts. He replaces Enes Kanter, who was an exceptional rebounder and efficient scorer last season but also one of the worst defenders on one of the NBA's worst defensive teams. The Blazers still waiting to secure their top free-agent priority, Norman Powell, but only San Antonio, New Orleans and Oklahoma City have enough cap space remaining to land someone of Powell's stature.
I'm still really hoping we'll get a certain someone from the most famous Trust The Process era in recent league history.Man! It takes two to tangle on trades. That was always where the potential biggest move can be done. Just because it hasn't been done to comply with the impatience of some S2 posters, doesn't mean it's not being worked on. agree. And the two players most talked about are still on the respected teams too. This is true. Fans bitched about not trading CJ on draft night when teams were most focused on the draft. Then they bitched on the first day of free agency when most teams' focus was on...... free agency.
Philly is obviously in no rush to move Simmons unless they get every unrealistic asset they are asking for. At some point, their demand will come down. And contrary to what anyone says, fans don't know shit how Neil values CJ, other than he likes him. The question is how much does Morey value him.
I'm okay with this. CJ is literally our only asset unless we're rebuilding and trading Dame. (Okay, we have Nurk and RoCo which other teams would like, but Centers aren't really wanted any more, and besides, both of those are of interest to competing teams, and they will want to "win the deal" too.) It does nobody any good to sell him short.Neil is very high on CJ still. It would have to be a slam dunk deal for them to move him.
It would have to be an absolute obvious upgrade to break up the Dame-CJ duo.
Not a motherfucking hint of urgency from Neil in this off season so far but we've still got a couple months.Only a fool would trust Neil blindly. The guy makes a single now and again but certainly has proven to not have the cajones to move us closer to contention. It is pretty evident Dame feels the same way. His comments in the press conference said as much in terms of urgency.
Theres time and the players most wanted havent moved either. Not a motherfucking hint of urgency from Neil in this off season so far but we've still got a couple months.

Nice to see the kid finally healthy. And I guess he's no longer a kid.
Stand back and look at how many huge trades have taken place so far, not many.let me ask you this: after everything that happened with Portland in the playoffs, and how Dame reacted to it, did you think that it was OK (from Dame's perspective) for Olshey to just run it back this season with the same core and starters and count on Billups to prove Olshey right about the roster not being the problem?
and yeah, blah blah blah it's only the first 24 hours of free agency etc.. We all know that. But, it's logical to look at the Zeller and McLemore additions with Olshey's history and see another rinse/repeat on the way....no?
I mean, do you truly believe there's a decent chance anything will happen between now and the trade deadline that will change the starters from the Dame-CJ-Powell-RoCo-Nurkic lineup that got beat by Denver? And do you believe that Dame was thinking about the bench when he said the roster wasn't good enough?

I know "blah blah HARD CAP blah blah" but is the Zach Collins deal finalized, or is there any possibility of sign-and-trading for DeRozan?

Where is the big trade for Philly, Knicks, Toronto, even Dallas? More trade action to come and we do have assets so I guess anything is possible.
Even if we throw in multiple picks, I'd be all over that. better for SA than just letting him walk.If Zeller's just a vet min, and if SA wanted DJJ, we could theoretically S&T for DD for close to $15M and still be under the hard cap.
They won't, but they could.
I've said as much. I've got competing thoughts. One is patient because there's time before training camp and then until the trade deadline. The other is impatient because Neil has never made a blockbuster trade and I just don't trust him to do what it takes to keep Dame. Dame's mantra seems to be urgency so the clock is ticking.Theres time and the players most wanted havent moved either.

DeRozan on a 15 mil deal and Norm on a 18 mil deal would both be tradeable, not to mention Roco/Nurk on 12 mil expirings.I just can't see Olshey playing it that close and hurting his options for mid-season trades.
