Barring a trade for Simmons/Pascal (or similar), the only way this off season is passable is if Little or Simons have an inside bump in production.

So in other words, how's the draft next year? ;)
They very well could.

Kenneth Farried to be on the Blazers Summer League roster!

does all this bench-filling mean we are in for a monster trade?

CJ + DJJ + 2 #1’s for Simmons?

CJ +Nurk + DJJ + 2 #1’s
For KAT + Rubio

Siakam + Boucher for CJ + RoCo + pick

Gotta have the cheap ones so you can afford the expensive ones.

Snell makes DJ, Jr. more expendable. Hopefully in combination with CJ. Fingers crossed that there's a big deal coming.
Ok I hope you’re right. This is so frustrating

Man! Snell, really. Why more guards, not name Josh Hart. A guard that has tenacity. McLemore & Snell are end of bench guys. You can hate on Melo, all you want, but at least he can play. Naw, this is silly.

this is a complete abomination of an off season

ben mclemore and tony snell are about equivalent to hezonja and tolliver.

maybe worse.

these dudes are fringe NBA players.
Even if that was the case, there’s nothing to complain about. We got enough players in the rotation rn for those guys to not even see minutes. These guys are vet minimum players. I’d understand the complaint if we were talking about a MLE or something like that.

There's nothing to complain about fringe NBA guys being added to the roster when there is a looming trade demand from the best player in the history of the franchise? When the guy applies pressure and does everything but explicitly lay out an ultimatum to improve the roster, you sign Tony Snell and Ben McLemore?

Are you kidding me? So what you're saying is that we should be satisfied with the same rotation as last year that lost to an undermanned Denver team. Try explaining that to Dame.

I'm pretty positive, but a big move involving CJ & DJJ has to be in the works. Cause these last 2 signings are pretty underwhelming.

I agree, It is crazy that FA is over, no more trades are allowed until next year. Oh wait, FA is still ongoing, Trades are just now starting to happen, but look out the sky has fallen in Blazer land.

welcome to the push-back and olshey-apologizing I've been getting for years

Two of our first three signings have been (as stated) for non-rotational players and pretty much anyone of significance is off the board. When's the parade?

These moves would be looked at differently if they occurred after a major shift to the roster ala. trading CJ.

But based on the order we're receiving them, they look laughable. And with Olshey's track record, who is really going to believe that he will actually take a risk?

Then what would you do?

I guarantee you literally anything you come up with is not hindered by these signings. Get a grip.

And I didn’t say any of that, don’t put words in my mouth.

I agree, no other team has signed end of bench players, just fucking Neil Olshey. Everyone else is out here signing 5 time all stars. Man some of you guys need to step away for a week or so.

you really see a light at the end of the tunnel?

nearly every indication we have gotten from the team and the media is that they want to run it back.

these moves aren't even improving us around the edges.

It's more that this is in line with Olshey's modus operandi for the last 9 years. We've seen this movie.

I guess I'm just wired to look at these moves from the other way around. There's absolutely no reason for Olshey to be stocking up on these guards unless a trade is in the works. I think they make the likelihood of CJ getting moved much greater than they would if Olshey was standing pat.

SOP, man. These moves are so predictable. Just indicative of his unwillingness to finally change it up and take a risk. The Fischer interview where he indicated Neil's continued reluctance to trade CJ for anything short of a slam dunk was the final straw for me, and I've been a defender of this guy.

Dude, we literally have zero idea what’s going on behind closed doors. We all would like to see a trade that makes our roster more balanced, but in the mean time it’s fine to be active in FA. Catastrophizing over these signings makes zero sense, that’s my point.

I agree. But he's probably planning on looking during the season. And when the offers (inevitably) come back unsatisfactory during the season, he'll deal DJJ for a similar but slightly better player and call it a "go for it" move. Then lie to our faces and say there's nothing else we could have done. We lose in the 1st or 2nd round and there goes the Dame era in Portland.

*shrug*

Color me unimpressed for signing guys who probably would be playing in China were it not for Neil.

Snell's 0.6 ppg in the playoffs is awe-inspiring.

These moves don't indicate the sense of urgency we needed to see after the stuff with Dame a week ago.

BAHAHAHAHAHA

We have 6-7 years of evidence.

TPMLE gone for the Lakers.

Presumably we still have ours...

Yeah, I'm in a place where I'm cool with what was done in free agency as long as there's a blockbuster trade made that sends CJ+ out and brings back an all star forward.

It's that simple. We have a bench with a lot of solid, not spectacular players. We have a starting lineup with enough talent to be competitive but the talent doesn't fit together so we'll be very mediocre without a big time move.

Guys I would rather have had than Ben and Snell:
Justise Winslow
Elfrid Payton
Frank Ntilikina
Denzel Valentine
Wesley Matthews
James Ennis III
Wayne Ellington
E'Twaun Moore
Matthew Dellavedova
Langston Galloway
Tyler Johnson
Georges Niang
Isaac Bonga
Kendrick Nunn
Khem Birch
Troy Daniels
Moritz Wagner
Sindarius Thornwell
Mike James
Shaquille Harrison
Tyler Bey
Gary Clark
Frank Mason III
Tremont Waters
Nathan Knight
Justin Jackson
Quinndary Weatherspoon

I predicted we'd get Snell (and Felicio) though. Ah well.
