2007 Blazers at Lakers is on NBA TV right now. I guess Kobe scores 24 pts in the 4th for a total of 65 and they beat us in OT.

DAN DICKAU ALERT

p.s. how did we watch TV before HD?

on a 27" set and then upgraded to a huge screen of 30" when Mitsubishi came out with the set. It only weighed more than my Lincoln Navigator though, lol.

I was also the designated remote control for my parents, but fortunately there were only 3 and then 4 channels at the time and only one TV per household.

A win would be huge tonight but it will be very very very tough. Crowd will be insane and the entire universe (other than the PNW) is pulling for the Lakers. Will the officiating be immune to these factors? 8 on 5 tonite. plus throw in the telecast which will be all Lakers too. Not going to be an enjoyable game for me to watch. Then LBL will make the win all about him...

It's going to feel like 10 on 5

Man, there are already people there at (around) staples. ESPN has cut to the shot multiple times. I *really* wish we weren't the ones on the receiving end of this. Melo flat out ain't having it.

Gonna be an awful laker love-fest broadcast. Nauseating. Straight game and the blazers have a chance. this aint a regular game. Think about it: there HAS to be a post-game interview with LBJ on how he did it for Kobe. Has to be. Refs know this.

But were you the bartender also.

Kind of a slap in the face to the Blazers organization and fans with Melo sitting out this game. He was not grieving to much the other night.

He's been a real competitor for us since he got here so I believe he just can't go for this game. Emotions are a real thing and they are powerful. Let Melo grieve how he sees fit. He'll be back soon and giving this team his all.

I don't know if we'll win tonight. They have the more complete roster, they have the crowd, they may have the refs (they usually do anyway) and there will be a lot of emotional momentum for them too. That being said, we have Dame and a team around him that has been playing very well as of late. So I think there is a slim chance that we pull this one off tonight. I definitely think we can keep it competitive and will likely cover the 13.5 point spread.

Being the competitor Kobe was, I don't think that is how he would want to be grieved. I guess we can hope some of the Lakers can't play either, but doubt that.

Kobe ain't doing the grieving dude, Melo is. I understand completely. It weakens our team which sucks, but things like this are bigger than the game.

I am just saying if he was grieving I get that, but he sure was fine and able to play Wednesday. I

It feels like we are obligated to lose tonight and if we don't or beat them by double digits, the players will come off as the biggest assholes on the planet.

Does anyone else get that feeling?

If Dame scores 82 and we still lose, we have some major problems.
I think we already know we have major problems (like 60% of our starting lineup being on long-term injury and Melo not playing tonight), and it'll likely take 125 to win this one, so yeah...but I don't think Dame would take enough shots to get to 82. Not his style. I think he'd have to have a ridiculous game of 3PAs (obviously hitting many of them), but that detracts from the "free" FTs that good scorers usually rely on. Unless his usage rate is through the roof, again, not his style to Harden-ize it. And probably an OT game, in that he was hot in the first half, has to play Lillard Time because it's so close in the 4th and leading to OT for an extra 5 minutes.

For some research:
60pts+ has been done 72 times (32 by Wilt). Dame's two games have been the 50th- and 63rd-most FGAs attempted. He's also been 56th- and 59th-most FTA. He's just been ultra-efficient in those games, and shooting the 2nd- and 4th-most 3PA (and hitting on ~50% of them) helps.
