As bad we are playing and still get a win that great. But Stotts really need take a look at that 2nd unit.

I watched Lamarcus play the worst game I've ever seen him play last night at work...Aminu looked like Magic Johnson compared to his handles and slop....couple times he didn't even run down court

First off, great win!

Secondly, I hate to complain about an already great broadcast, but I counted at least 4-5 times throughout the game where the broadcast ran a replay or promotion that cut into actual game action (the majority of this was at the foul line where it sucks to miss points being put on the board). I tune in to watch the action on the court and it's frustrating to miss plays.

On a somewhat related note, I thought this was Calabro and Hurd's best game so far. Maybe I'm just getting used to them, but the flow seems better and Hurd is making some points without the hyper over talking of the first few games. I enjoyed their call today.

Because of his first game back from injury that means we dodged a bullet?

Yeah for the same reason I think we need to be patient with our players who are either new (ET) or coming off an injury, (Meyers) you have to give Parson some time.

I'm sold on these guys....definitely quick studies...Calabro is really helping Hurd get into a groove

Also, I like Michael Holton much better this year. He's cut WAY down on the corny jokes and sticks to talking about basketball - which he's good at. Not sure if someone told him to rein it in, or if he just saw the writing on the wall that the organization wants a more professional sounding broadcast.

Parsons: 21 mins, 0-8, 2 turns.

Bullet = dodged.

That's an Evan Turner esque line.
That's like dodging a bullet and having it hit you in the groin rather than the stomach

It's good to see what we could have had if we got CP - even though we ended up with our own version in Ever Turnover 0-0 , 2 TO.

70M+ right?

fuuuuuuck me.

a guy off the bench isn't going to shoot much with CJ in control...CJ doesn't like to pass much

That is his role on this team. Since we lack shooters..I prefer he shoots as much as possible with Dame on the bench.

We went over the cap to sign Leonard and Harkless. We would still have them. Who we wouldn't have if Parsons came here were Tuner and Ezeli.

Ahh right the cap. I was just thinking in timeline as the last two signed. Even bigger in my opinion because... well. I HA!

Are we gonna have over inflated expectations for Ezeli's D?
Great win and most impressive so far this season. There could be something behind the statement..."When Ezeli hits a the rotation, we will be a contender, because he is the missing piece that we need. That Elite D in the paint..."

Really though. If he can give us 20-25 from the all star break on and give us 1-3 blocks a game, pick up 6-10 rebounds and most importantly, reduce those points in the paint we are giving up??.. hmmm. Is that asking too much, or over inflating his impact upon return? Its what we need. Can he be the difference maker?

I am more than ever anxiously awaiting his return.

I see improvement in Holton as well. However I have not warmed up to his new partner. He has not been appealing in the least so far.

Well, Parsons got $95 million. So, right now Turner is looking like a relative bargain.

I expect Parsons to get better, but then, I also expect Turner to get better. I also don't expect Klay Thompson to shoot less than .200 from 3-point range with a PER less than 9 all season.

All of these guys have one thing in common - changing roles because of off season moves. Turner and Parsons joined new teams with established rotations. They need to learn their new systems, they new teammates and their new roles. Thompson got bumped down from 2nd option to 3rd option with the addition of Durant. He seems like he's forcing things. He's still getting his shots, but he's not making them.

All of these guys will adjust. Will Parsons and Turner prove worthy of their contracts? Too soon to tell, but also too soon to call them overpaid busts.

You're expecting WAY too much from Ezeli. He's never given anyone 20 - 25 MPG. He averaged 14.4 MPG his rookie season. Missed his entire second season. Averaged 11.0 MPG for 46 games in his third season and 16.7 MPG in 46 MPG last season.

Which is why I think Neal needs to make a move for Nerlens Noel as soon as we can start trading some of our guys. Ezeli can never be counted on to be a starter. Noel can. And while Noel has also had injuries, he played more minutes last year than Ezeli hadsplayed in the last three, and played almost as many minutes (2311 vs. 2394) as a rookie as Ezeli has played in his entire NBA career.

I like Festus. I just don't want to depend on him.

Took a borderline career best game from CJ in order for the 2nd unit to not be yet another failed attempt. I realize I’m being negative on a solid win game day (hello CJ! Welcome back!), but our bench scored 11 points vs 41 for Memphis.

We have talented players, but that 2nd unit rotation is just not working and has cost us games and will cost us more in the future so long as Stotts insists on it.

Why not have Layman in there now and again.

Reduce Aminu’s and a little of Harkless's time time and put in Layman once in a while

What is the obsession with turner? I seriously don't get it.

Yes he was 0-0 with 2 turnovers.

He also had 4 assists, 1 block and 1 steal.

Meanwhile Allen Crabbe, who is on an arguably worse contract, was a -4 and only attempted 4 shots. We are paying him to score. That's why we signed him. Meyers also only attempted 4 shots, but he only played 11 minutes.

I am more concerned about crabbe than I am about turner. He has been here. He shouldn't need to adapt to the system. He is also on a contract that's more difficult to move.

all 3 of them are playing terribly.

no obsessions with turner at all, moreso the amount of $ we've invested into these guys to just watch them fumble around clueless on the court.

im also far more at a loss to explain Crabbe, by far the most disappointing of the lot tbh.

It's time for terry to switch up the rotation. Aminu is fucking awful. Start crabbe and move harkless to the four, or start vonleh. Something needs to change though.

Jeeze Louise. You do realize that that means our starters out scored their starters by 36 points. You also realize their starters make a HELL of lot more than our bench. Hell, their starters make a lot more than our starters. If anyone isn't earning their money here, it's the MEM starters.

Yeah, I get it. We paid a lot of money for our bench and they need to figure things out, but would you rather have Parson's at $95 million and Conley as the highest paid player in the entire NBA? There was a hell of a lot of money thrown around last summer, and something tells me the fan base of every team team that is not currently off to at least 5-1 start is freaking out a bit, but none more so than the Portland Soccer Moms.
