another solution would be to do like it was in the PIL my freshman year where the game had a 5th quarter to get some players playing time.
His shot reminds me of Pistol Pete MaravichAgree that Trent is a better two player at this point. He's just caught up in to many guards to gain minutes. That shot/motion of Simon's sure is different.
They never did that in the Metro League!
I'm also not a big CJ fan, but your stats show he is going to the FT line at four times the rate of Anf and also getting assists at four times the rate of Anf.So far this season, outside of assists and FTs, how has CJ been better than Simons? Overall, neither has been particularly good.

well this was in 1969 and back then many schools were pretty big then in the PIL as Grant had about 2700 students when I was a freshman and then the next year Adams opened up to decrease it somewhat. We had 30 players just on the freshman team and that was after cuts of about that many.
I was a sophomore at Sunset in 73-74. We didn't have freshman as that was for the junior highs. We had a lot of students and a lot of players, but no 5th quarters. My guess is that freshman got more opportunities to play since we had 2 or 3 junior highs feeding Sunset.

"Not particularly good", lol. Simons has holes in his game, for sure. He doesn't have a high usage, so his PER is low. However,....
That's a fantastic FG% and TS% for Simons. Guards just don't put up percentages like that.
FG%:
Simons - .515
CJ - .406
Drexler (career) - .472
Michael Jordan (career) - .497
TS%:
Simons - .590
CJ - .503
Drexler (career) - .547
Michael Jordan (career) - .569
So, his shooting #s are GOAT.
Simons was really good defensively last night. The way to get Simmons more burn is to start blowing some teams out in the 3rd qtr.....Simmons has a smooth shot but his defense is really horrible at the NBA level....Gary Trent Jr.. is much better at defense than Simmons is and it's not close....they are giving Simmons plenty of rope because of his stroke but at this point, Trent is more of a two way player but we won't know if we don't have a huge lead at some pt and let the 3rd string loose for a qtr...same with Nas...he hasn't broken a sweat against NBA competition yet. For Dame to not play 38 minutes a game we need to put teams away earlier..
I knew someone would post this bullshit. Platy used those EXACT STATS to conclude that "Neither (of their stats) were particularly good". I pointed out that this was wrong. You are using an extremely small sample size with Simons for comparison as well as not using all the data available for McCollum.
He had a couple of really good defensive plays last night...credit him that..the whole team is getting better defensively and he's definitely stronger than last year..first 3 games of this road trip he seemed lost most of the timeSimons was really good defensively last night.
I have to ask "why not?" If anyone enters a discussion with an opinion, they are discussing it aren't they? I more often than not read the last page of a thread without going back thirteen pages to follow anyone's back and forth...if it's a two way discussion I use pm mode myself. If the opinion doesn't interest your view of a discussion, no need to call it out either. I have a hard time comparing CJ and Simons at this point and if I did, it'd be CJ's rookie and sophomore season probably....Simons seems ahead of the curve from what I've seen of his game...seems to dribble less than CJ....CJ has started the season with a pretty serious 3 game shooting slump as well."Sample Size" has zero to do with the discussion.

I simply reply to the post, don't have angst against posters. I liked one of your posts right after posting...

I simply disagree with your assessment in the post I responded to. No biggie. but no reason to be so attacking.![]()
He's not doing much more than score right now, but he looks more comfortable each game. Now is the time during the season to see what he's got and let him make more mistakes, but Terry seems to have a quick hook with him. He's lost on defense frequently, but the only way for him to learn is to play. Scoring wise, he looks so smooth and reminds me exactly of Lou Williams.
I think the rotation now is for Ant to get PG minutes whenever Dame sits, and on occasion he plays WITH Dame. But 17 mpg is just too few I feel.
Can we play him at SF next to Dame/CJ for a few minutes?
To be fair, I never said his numbers were trash. I just said that neither CJ's nor Ant's overall numbers have been particularly good so far this early season. And I don't see that as a particularly unreasonable position.#sigh
The problem with small Sample Size occurs when they are trying to project into the future.
"My guy's a supstar, check out his Numbuhz" is ridiculous 4 games into a season - but that's not what happened here. Platy said his numbers were trash, so I, in appropriate context, pointed out that the shooting numbers were all time great.
Again, Sample Size has nothing to do with it.
Simons was really good defensively last night.
Idk but Simons is gonna be better than CJ.
The dude has decent size for his position (might still grow too) and seems to be at least trying on that end. Once he bulks up a bit more and get more experienced there's no reason he can't be a good defender
Seth Curry played SF for 16% of his time last season. Simons is bigger than him. I'm sure we can at least have about 5 mpg with Dame-CJ-Ant out there at the same time, depending on defensive matchups. The dude has decent size for his position (might still grow too) and seems to be at least trying on that end. It's not height but lower core strength...Curry has way more lower core strength than Ant at this point...not as easy to push out of position when he gets his feet set...Ant has built some upper core strength but his lower core is still toothpick thinSeth Curry played SF for 16% of his time last season.
