James Harden has added the Blazers to his list

He already lives in strip clubs...remind me...how many titles has he got? He's played with great talent his whole career from OKC to Houston....not saying he's not an incredible talent because he is...why do so many players want to get away from his teams? He's been dumped by Durant, Westbrook, CP3, Howard, and a lot of other players that thought he'd get them a ring

With Dame as the team captain, how many players has he allowed to come into the locker room and poison things? If Dame is ok with it, I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt.

Durant , Westbrook, CP3, and Howard have all left talented teams that Harden wasn't on as well. Not saying Harden is going to be a perfect fit, but we're not going to be giving up a 9 time All-NBA player to get him either.

Yeah I don’t give a fuck if he lives in a strip club, stars win titles, they are more important in the NBA than any other sport. It would solve the trapping Dame shit and I’d rather take a chance on Harden than pay CJ 100 mil over the next 3 seasons.
James Harden fan or not, The Blazers would be total fools not to entertain such an idea. Harden is arguably a top 5 player. So I agree!

Has he really been dumped by those players or did he dump them? Seems to me Hou has chosen Harden over all of those other players. I don’t blame Houston for trying to find the best fit with him to win, it’s a hell of a lot better than sticking with the same tandem year after year expecting a different result.

If we include Trent that leaves Simons, CJ2, and Blevins as backup guards...that’s real bad.

I believe it would take CJ/Zach/Trent and at least 1 first.

Wall
CJ/Trent
House/Gordon
Wood/Tucker
Cousins/Collins

I actually like that for Hou.

Dame/Simons
Harden/CJ2
DJJ/Hood/Nas
RoCo/Melo/Giles
Nurk/Kanter

???

Personally I’d do it, not many teams have 2 top 10 players.
Harden would run the team when Dame was on the bench and Hoodie could fill in at the 2 if he gets his legs back. You still don't have to touch Simons, CJ2 or Nas with this roster. The rotation would likely be Dame, Harden, DJJ, RoCo, Nurk, Melo, Hood, Kanter with Giles getting some minutes most games but not really in the rotation. Simons and Nas would get spot minutes and unless there were real problems Elleby would never see the court.

How did he get dumped by Durant? That was the OKC GM moving him because he didn't think he could pay him what he was going to demand.
Westbrook is a mental midget so there is that.
CP3 was traded by the Houston GM to get Westbook.
Howard has played on seemingly almost half of the teams in the league.

Perhaps at least even a little research would help.

Im amazed at how many people are against this. Dame has only so many years left. We have to try and do something to help him get a chip. Harden is that. Say what you will about Harden many things can be debated. What can't be debated is he is a superstar and top 5 player in the NBA. What have we learned about recent Champions (outside of the the Raptors)? Superstars teamming up win championships. Nothing is guaranteed, obviously it is a risk and maybe it isn't even possible we can get Harden, but we have to try. Everyone here should know Dame/CJ will not ever win a title and now this could potentially be a realistic shot at trading CJ for a major upgrade.

He hasn't commanded loyalty from teammates is my entire point....or they'd do what it takes to stay teammates..coaches either..I just threw out names he should have on paper won titles with and didn't..but you can break that down and downplay it..I don't think KD wants to play with him on the Nets either but again...that's my opinion D'Antoni seems to have preferred an assistant job with Nash over head coaching in Houston as well..how many coaches would leave a superstar player for a role assistant job elsewhere.

The one thing I think people should come to terms with is that it will likely take CJ and Nurk to get this thing done. That's really the only way I see Houston doing this deal. I actually think we'd have to do this too. We get Harden and see how him and Dame coexist and if they can't we sell Harden for more than we could probably get for those two players and whatever picks they would also want.

I'm not convinced Harden means championship...he can go get the scoring title every year though

Probably not playing with Dame but they could make it work; both have off ball skills and can set the other one up. They'd hopefully be a lot of fun to watch and even if it doesn't win us a chip right away it gets us a helluva lot closer.

The current team also doesn't mean championships. So do we just roll with this team or take a gamble in hopes we can win a championship with two superstars?

Not a gamble I'd bank on but I've already said that...I think the guy is locker room cancer and doesn't play well in the post season most years...paycheck superstar. I'd have a real hard time cheering for him but I'd get over it.

Dame (+ Nurk) is the perfect guy to pair with Harden. He’s unselfish and will have no problem deferring. He’ll welcome playing more off the ball, he’s said it himself. And Harden can run an offense at least ten times better than CJ, so he could run the second unit as well. Also, teams will NOT trap with both those dudes on the floor.

I would do it. Like people have pointed out, we could flip Harden after he gets redemption and he’s scoring 30ppg.

But if we are on his list and he wants to be here long term I don’t know why we wouldn’t just keep him. As long as we don’t let him have his way. If the reports about him being late to film and Westbrook being disgusted with it, I can’t see dame being happy with that either.

The rockets were up 3-2 against a team with 4 hall of famers, with, imo, less than what we have right now on the roster.

his defense is better than CJ’s

I really really think that Houston won't go for anything less than CJ, Nurk and a pick or picks. I just don't see how CJ, Zach, Gary and whoever else adds up to as much as they've been offered by other teams... especially that Brooklyn offer. I do think CJ, Nurk and draft incentives might get the job done if we'd want to do that. We might have a bit of a hole at the 5 but Kanter can play there and then Zach can try to win that job from him when he's healthy. That said, Dame, Harden, DJJ, RoCo, Enes, Gary, Zach, Hoodie isn't as deep of a rotation as we have right now but it might get the job done a lot better.

No fucking way! Only way I’d support a Harden to PDX trade is if I owned a strip club. Poor strippers.

Case in point:

Six straight years, the Lakers were awful and didn’t make very good picks or signing. They were garbage while we were competent. But who won the title first? The team that brought together 2 Top 8 stars. That’s what it takes. If we can get Harden, we do it. It’s not even a risk like Kawhi where they lost him after one year. Harden would be locked in and WANTS to play with Dame.

My impression is more that Harden wants to play with Kyrie and KD but would settle with playing with Dame...we're like choice number 4 in his bucket list so I don't think he's made us a priority.

that’s fine, as long as he’s good with playing in Portland. And he obviously is.

Are there quotes of him saying that though?

Its what MRS HCP feels like after having been with us.

"Eh, guess I'll settle for @THE HCP "

Blazers getting Harden is the basketball version of The US electing Trump. No fucking way! Only way I’d support a Harden to PDX trade is if I owned a strip club. Poor strippers.
You shouldn't post political shit in here even if it's subtle and snarky. That being said the analogy is horrible because (here's my absolute hypocrisy) Harden is a fucking great basketball player and the other guy you referenced is probably the worst to ever do what he's currently doing. Is Harden the ideal fit for the culture this team has so carefully built? I'm not sure he is but this culture is strong and might even be able to change Harden. If that's the case we would likely have the best back court in the history of the league... for sure the best back court ever offensively. Then we would have the defense first forwards who I think can both hit open threes and one can slash really well. The question would be in the middle. We would likely have to give up Nurk so Kanter and Zach would have to be our centers. That said those guys aren't necessarily worse than Luke Longley and Bill Wennington.

He won an MVP with a coach who let him do whatever he wanted, so maybe that's not the worst strategy.

I'm more interested in a championship than an MVP award but whatever floats your boat.

Window dressing.
But id trade cj/Kanter and one of trent or collins with picks.

never gonna happen though. Simply political leverage. Nothing more. He will end up in a big market.
