Notice Joe Cronin New GM

Very disappointing Cronin horrible performance so far trading 3 starters for an overpaid Bledsoe and Didi got him a long term extension. Sending prayers to preferred destinations instead of getting the Blazers the most talent. Giving into other GMs requests a week early because Cronin was afraid of teams being able to negotiate. Believing cap space could get Ben Simmons or other pipe dreams.

I'm not sure what option this signifies of the short term plans for the Blazers, it's either cheap, delusional or evil:

A. Jody/Vulcans prioritize money savings over all else both in Cronins directives as well as his cheap salary and no expense to search for GM. Cheap
B. Jody/Vulcan actually believe Joe has a real chance to build a winning team around Dame and is better than available candidates. Delusional.
C. Jody/Vulcan have a sinister agenda to want to see the team fail, such as get draft picks and trade Dame. Maybe there is an ability to move the franchise to a different city if low attendance from Paul Allen trust. Evil.

I can't think of a worse time in the last few decades to be a Blazers fan. Even with John Nash as GM we had more promising young talent on the roster.

A ,seems like what is going on to me. Right now being a fan is awful, we are going to see Dame waste what he has left here and be in purgatory for many years. There is just no way we can build a contender with Dame with what we have. Blazer fan until the end but my god is it going to get ugly for the foreseeable future.

Awful take

You're funny, pretending that those trades didn't also net Keon Johnson, Justise Winslow, Josh Hart, and a couple draft picks. Not that those make the return great value, but it's ridiculously disingenuous to only name Didi and EBEC.

The draft is and always pretty much has been a crap shoot. Tanking is taking a big risk and comes with some karma....we're trading the pick I'd predict so as the 7th pick seemed to be destiny from the start with this draft....it's to be expected. Fortunately we have options and flexibility. Now Joe can work the phones and fill out the roster. We have Hart, Winslow, Ingles, Johnson, Williams and Louzada added to the team going into camp....to me Winslow and Hart are going to change our defensive skillset from day one. Tired of people acting like Norm, Roco and CJ didn't just get bounced out of the first round of the playoffs. Norm bricked a layup and two freethrows that would've beat the Pels at the end of the game....we didn't want to lose in the first round but the guys Joe traded all did...I'm ready to move on from all of them. Hart put up 44 pts after the break for us....that's a two way player right there. I think next season will showcase some good Blazer basketball. Winslow plays like a young Iguodala.

I have said it so many times.
"Addition by Subtraction" is a legitimate concept.
Requires folks to think outside the box, just a little.
CJ, was a nice player, but he was holding the team back, we all know this.
roco & powell are nothings. If anything, they have peaked already.
River, you are so wise to acknowledge what Hart & Winslow will bring. They are like missing ingredients this team has needed for years and years.
Personally, ridding the team of CJ, and the other two deadbeats, and just getting Josh and Justice was more than a great move.
Now, I am not saying this will be a successful playoff team in 2022-23..(the league is just amazingly talented, got some catching up to do)
But they will be 1,000X better.

Moral victory then huh?

Even if we miss the playoffs and Dame gets a year older. Hip hip, hooray!

Yet another example of the "Either/Or" mentality.
This is a project, you do understand that, right?
If you do, than why disrespect the league?

Great read, good to see there is still some smart people here. Hart/Winslow are dogs every team needs to be success, we had none and now we have 2 and maybe Nas can develop into one too.

All this negative chatter is what most do here best, being negative.

Let the summer play out guys, let’s see what we do this summer before we really judge the whole process

I have no problem with a project. To say we are 1000x better but may still not a successful playoff team is a waste of time for Dames prime. If we want a project move on from Dame before he gets too old.

This moral victory bullshit is just hilarious.

Josh & Justice are DAWGS!!!!!!
They will be replacing guys who didn't wanna mess their hair up.
You cannot find this on a stat sheet.

"I have no problem with a project."
Ah....Yes, you do.
Your other problem is a complete lack of vision.
But, I digress.
You have taken the final two sentences of my post and built a tent there. A "Moral Victory" tent. Completely ignoring my main point, which was J&J are better for what this team needs than CJ and the other wastes of space.
No wonder Joe C and I see things you do not.
Meow.

I don't have any problems with Hart. I like him as a player.

Having a project and not shooting for success when your star player is entering the twilight of their career is nonsense. There is no vision there to see.

You literally liked a post from last week that we would be this years Mavericks, now you are saying trust the process, see the vision. If we don't have success in the playoffs, how many years is Dame gonna wait? How many more years will we waste his prime?

Moving on from Dame to start over, or building a team Dame can actually contend with in his prime is vision. Not whatever wasting Dames prime.bullshit you're trying to convey.

I'm not pretending anything . CJ netted Hart and the draft pick. The Blazers threw away 3 other starters that would have value going forward or could've been used in trades this summer to improve the team. All the Blazers got were as you mentioned guys like Winslow or Didi... total scrubs.

What team became a contender with "addition by subtraction"?

Talent is what matters. The Blazers errrored by sending out far more than they brought back.

Wrong!
In a previous post, (really?) I said the Mavericks and Memphis were the teams to follow their blueprint. I didn't "like" the sentiment, I posted it!!
Meaning, the "anti-super team".
That's all.
As far as "wasting" Dame's prime?
Do you really, deep down, believe you know more about Dame than Dame?(Or Chauncey?, or Mrs. Lillard? I would say or Joe C? but you probably believe you do know more about it than he does!!)..Keep in mind, he's had a year off, and, for the first time in seven years will be healthy?
You have taken my post, made it out to be based on "moral victories", and when I corrected you on that, you have now moved on to "wasting Dame's prime"...
I will say one thing in your favor though, you are persistent.

"The Blazers threw away 3 other starters"
So, I guess, in order to make your point you are calling Larry Nance a starter?
If you wanna roll with a team starting roco, powell, and nance, go for it!!!
You also refer to Justice Winslow as a" scrub."
It is at this point, I recognize what I'm dealing with here.

We can build with Dame in mind, and if Dame decides it's not going right and wants out we can trade him then.

We'll get better value for Dame after a strong season than we would now, anyway.

No. You liked a post talking about us being the Mavericks next year.

Father time is undefeated as much as your patience wants to believe it isn't.

You didn't correct me on moral victories. That's what you are hanging your hat on. If we don't win a championship or are not trying everything we can to do so, what is the point of holding Dame hostage?

Dame sure seemed excited last night over getting the 7th pick, didn't he?

5 weeks until the draft and then another 3 months till the season starts. You guys are in for a lot of go round for a while.

I'm fine with holding him until the trade deadline and moving him then or at the draft next year if it is painfully obvious we aren't going to be contending anytime soon. I'm.not ok with holding him multiple years and wasting the rest of his prime on some fantasy that isn't gonna work out.

Golden state Warriors trading Monta Ellis

Golden State Warriors
Outcome: Losers

The Warriors addressed the quest to finally add a talented big man in Andrew Bogut, but the team did so at a monumental cost.

Bogut will slide in nicely and complement David Lee well when the center is able to return to action, but the big man won't replace the offense nor the perimeter shooting that Monta Ellis brought to the fold.

... It's difficult to understand what the vision in the Warriors' front office is at this time.

If we haven't shown significant progress by then I'm sure trading Dame will be a forgone conclusion...

What team became a contender with "addition by subtraction"?

GSW when they got rid of Monte Ellis to open time for Steph Curry. Bogut was basically a bust of a #1 pick (7th or 8th year in the league at the time) with a history of many injuries when this trade happened.

True, but I think Bogut was a decent piece to get back. Their timeline fit with Curry being young and having Klay as the replacement. Little bit different situation than a 32 year old star.
An old All Star like Andre Iguadala?
