Meeting between Dame and Cronin today

Just read an article saying Dame's meeting is to request re-signing Grant and signing Draymond Green....seems simple enough. Joe probably can clue Dame into any vets that he is working on signing.
ZERO chance at Draymond. Blazers don’t have cap room. He didn’t opt out of a 1 year 27 mil contract to sign for the same amount total but over 3 years… and on a less competitive team.

I did find it interesting that in the Chris Haynes live he said that Dame doesn't need 2 or 3 all stars. He just wants some vets so he has a chance. Is that part still attainable? Guess we will see if Dame thinks so.

Vets won't give him a chance. That's all that Neil ever gave him. Veteran players who would be in the rotation on a championship team, but not the key 1-3 guys. We need another star. We need a legit #2. That's not Grant and that's not Simons. Maybe one day that could be Shae or Scoot, but not today.

You think Dame needed his agent with him for that?
His agent represents other NBA players that may interest Joe...at any rate I don't read anything impersonal about Dame and his agent showing up for a meeting about free agents. Joe and his agent have talked everyday, I'm sure the two of them can bring Dame up to speed.

I don't want the team to take the shitty package the Heat can give. They need to move him to the Nets or someplace that I'm not thinking of but the Heat don't have what it should take to get Dame.
Yeah but I don't see dame winning or even getting close to a ring with Brooklyn. At least the heat have proven they can get to the finals with their roster lol

It'd have to be a sign and trade with green no? We got no cap space otherwise

He said that two weeks ago too. "just wants a puncher's chance" That I believe.
You get him a forward (or center) to go along with Grant and Dame will be fine.
Not a big ask.

Stop with this logical nonsense! You need to get waaayyy more emotional in these posts!

Am I doing it right?

In all of this, I find it interesting how many trade ideas are shot down with things like "that person is too hot and cold! They aren't the big swing we need" or "that person is often injured. We're looking for a big swing to take!"

I may be crazy, but isn't that exactly what a big swing would look like? High risk, high reward.

What does a "big swing" look like if it
1. Can't be a player that isn't guaranteed to be healthy
2. Can't be a player that's struggled
3. Can't cost us any of our young prospects
4. Can't be a flight risk next year

Great, affordable, healthy players aren't available for free. You have to be willing to concede on one of the above requirements, or else you're not really looking to take a big swing.

I think Cronin just doesn't "want" to take such a risk, and I think other GM's are really reducing his list of options for check swings.

Almost midnight here. How can I possibly sleep?
It’s gonna be tough

Dame could opt out and things will be fine in a couple of years. But if he stays we likely stay in purgatory and lose youth trying to make him happy for 2 years

This.

Regardless of what their reasoning is, point is that FO never took a risk under Olshey, and that's continuing under Joe Cronin. Can't blame Dame.

Everyone wants as good of a backup center as the team can get. It's not just Dame asking for that.
