Meeting between Dame and Cronin today

Welcome to our community

Be a part of something great, join today!

There's a possibility Dame doesn't want to be traded because he doesn't want the scrutiny/pressure of being on a contender. If he joins the Heat let's say, there's expectation on him to be the one that puts them over the top. Dame is hero in Portland partly because he's been the underdog the whole time. The Blazers have never been favorites to win a championship so he's never had to face any real heat.

I don't necessarily believe this but it's something to consider.

You remove Bill Walton from our history and you remove an NBA Title

You remove Damian Lillard from our history and you remove.... nothing? a WCF sweep?

Now tell me again who's the greatest Blazer ever

Dame. You tried. Lost again. Sucks you hate him but that's a you problem.

No.

It would be like if someone said "do you want a chicken salad sandwhich" and I said "No. I don't want a chicken salad sandwhich. I want to eat at this restaurant but I don't want that sandwich. I don't have an appetite for chicken salad. If that's all you're serving, I won't be eating here."

And then two months later you're invited to a five star chicken salad sandwich restaurant while all the others are booked and you're starving.

Yeah Simons likely has some value - Nurk might have no value or negative value. 3 and 23 were the big chips and those have been cashed.

Blazers don't have much else unless they want to give up future draft picks. That seems very stupid with the franchise on the edge of a rebuild.

You are probably right about #3, but I would not be so sure about Murray. That chip can still be moved. (with Ant)

Best post in this thread..........and it ain't even close.

Stop trying to create a way that makes Dame going somewhere else as....

1) his desire
2) Cronin's desire
3) better for the team
4) better for Dame
5) what Dame deserves
6) what fans might deserve

He has earned the respect to be treated specially. Period. Cronin is doing his best, with the hand he accepted coming in to the position.

Whether that meets one's own fan desires or not....doesn't mean dick.
So it's cool for you to dictate what everyone else can say, because you've got a precise six point list that articulates what's allowed?

And it's all in the name of respect?

I understand your position except insofar as you're telling other people to stop disagreeing with you.

He cannot be traded for 30 days. So now your talking about after all his summer league either helps or hurts his trade value.

Would a trading partner have wanted Kris at #23? Maybe they had 10 other prospects rated higher. Its extremely unlikely picks are traded after the draft. We saw it when the #1 pick was traded for Allstar Kevin Love, very unique situation. I can't recall ever seeing it since.

I'd say out of all the Blazers players and future picks that Sharpe, Scoot, Kris, Rayan are the least likely to be traded and in that order.

With Beal to Suns, Paul to Warriors, Collins to Jazz… the Blazers falling even further behind in West. There is no realistic path to becoming a legitimate contender, and Dame has to know this… and Scoot and Sharpe are just too good of prospects to sacrifice for a pipe dream.

Not true. He can be traded until he signs his contract and then it's 30 days.

Technically, Scoot can still be moved too.

I know...that is why I said "probably".....meaning I don't think they will want to. But I can see Kris being an attractive addition in a trade for an older forward. (along with Ant's contract)

Yes technically you are correct, if he didn't sign a contract yet. I can't remember if they sign at the press conference or July 1st? I know they sign before they practice/play in summer league.

So if Kris hasn't signed we have however long to trade him until he signs - then can't trade him for 30 days. In practice I've never heard of a drafted player being traded later than draft day outside the unique Wiggins example.

That's exactly what they'd want.

It's not usually at the press conference. I think they do it before SL though.

I don't see any chance of that. If the Blazers need to attach another asset they would free up a future pick and give that, which would also be more preferred from the acquiring team.

There is a reason we never see drafted players traded days or weeks later.

According to this it's July 1st.

"bunch" of assets, our only asset is simons

Glad to see you finally joined us in the Nurk is not an asset club. Membership dues are due this upcoming Thursday if you want the "Trade Nurk" patch.

True. My bad. That was disrespectful.

Aside from what grates me about fan disrespect, I'll share what my desires are...

I hope Dame retires a Blazer, and I don't give a flying %$# how that affects or appears to affect the Blazer franchise. I rate my Current and former Blazer players by the joy they have given me over the course of their career. It's Mr. Lillard #1 and it isn't even remotely close.

Lmaaaaaao. Collins sucks. Paul is done. Beautiful troll job though. Cause this was a really stupid post.

It's the only right answer. Any other answer is wrong.

So your a Dame fan more than a Blazers fan. Thats fine, some of us are very different.

I'm fine with Dame staying on the team - but I don't want the Blazers to do stupid long term moves or give up good rookies for a doomed to fail attempt to placate Dame. If Dame wants to stay then great. If he doesn't, then he can ask out. Either way the team needs to make choices for the best interest of the whole team - not one specific player.
