I truly am sorry someone seriously went after you outside of here. It never crossed my mind that someone would actually do that and ill never live that down. I really am sorry HCP.

Yeah its very rare to trade picks at the top of the draft. The team trading away is scared of the risk the prospect becomes a star, the team acquiring the player is scared of the risk the player becomes a bust. It was kind of insane so many fans had such high expectations the pick would be dealt for a great starting level player.

Now the Blazers certainly fed into expectations with their comments, and even Dame to some extent.

But the Blazers have a real duty to maximize the value of all their assets. Selecting BPA wasn't a knock on Dame, it was the most reasonable, most likely outcome, that we've seen over many decades of successful teams having the #3 pick.
 
The front office knows that having rotation players on rookie deals allows you to spend big bucks on players like Grant and Green...Green is going to get 40+ million and Grant probably 30 which would be all we could do with the CBA. We made a qualifying offer to Thybulle today..we still have a MLE to sign a backup center. We're more than likely going to be a luxury tax team this season if they are going to try to win now.

It doesn’t sound like we have much ammo to go after a wing. If teams don’t want Ant we are kinda sunk. But if we can get Draymond that would be good.

I'm saying this again as one of dames BIGGEST supporters, BIGGEST defenders... But I kind of don't care if he gets traded, because it's about trying to make the team better and if he asks for the trade then do it.

We had success before and during his tenure, we gonna have it after too. So as much as I want him to stay, if he asks out, it is what it is and we move on. Just thank god Cronin at least set up a future. That made whatever happens more palatable.

It feels weird AF to write that, but that's kind of the reality of the situation. And I'll still cheer dame if/when he makes his return (if we trade him). He will still be my all time favorite blazer. But I won't lose sleep if he asks for a trade, or blame Cronin, because he at least aimed for the future.

This may be the weirdest time to be a blazer fan. It's so confusing emotionally lol.

I totally get this, and have all the respect for the opinion.
In my case, though, the last few years of Dame have been "stay up until 130am because you may see something you'll never see again." If that 3 goes in at the end of the HOU game we would've see the 4th-best scoring night in NBA HISTORY. As it was, out of over 4500 players and 130,000 games, it was #8. The 50pt Game 5 against LAC with the Logo Series Ender. Shots from halfcourt. 0.9. All in a skillset that won't drop off a cliff Rose- or Wall-Style. And easy to root for a kid from inner-city Oakland sticking with a team that believed in him.
Personally, it'll be way more crushing for me if Dame goes (as a 45 y/o) than it was when Clyde left as an 18y/0. I don't care immediately if we get the next 5 #1 picks and a late bloomer who becomes MVP. I won't be inconsolable (I have people who depend on me and I like the laundry) but my GAF factor will momentarily take a crushing hit. Until I talk myself into Scoot becoming a mix of Derrick Rose and Allen Iverson, or Sharpe developing into a gunning Scottie Pippen clone.

Ask him who has the most all-time wins as a pitcher for the Yankees!
