Re: 2pm KP and Larry Miller Press Conference

If Tod Leiweke fucks the Blazers up I don't think I can follow the team anymore. Pritchard has been the guy that turned this thing around that Paul Allen's boys fucked up in the first place. Pritchard brought the blazers back and turned them into the good guys of the city again. He gets it and I think that makes the fans support the team even more.

I also don't think I could follow the Seahawks anymore either, as Tod Leiweke is already running them right now. Pretty much I just hate Tod Leiweke, and a ton of Seahawk fans wanted him gone after he basically told Mike Holmgren he didn't want him back. Why would he tell Holmgren, the only coach to take the Seahawks to a SB and five straight playoff appearances to go away? Because Holmgren is a guy, much like Pritchard, that wants to call the shots on his team and have the power to do so. The Vulcans clearly don't like guys like that.

Is Todd Leiweike related to Tom Leiweke from AEG?

Re: You have to wonder if this Kpee saga leads to an epic collapse?

Once it became clear late last season that we were abandoning the rebuild promise, the rest of the collapse was pretty much destined to happen.

Of course, by that you mean when we moved Sergio, right?

Re: You have to wonder if this Kpee saga leads to an epic collapse?

people like maris are still stuck in lottery days... kinda like kpee.

Re: You have to wonder if this Kpee saga leads to an epic collapse?

TROLL

KP has been great for this team. If the Vulcans fire him it will be absolutely moronic.
If anything, they should fire Larry Miller and tell him to take McMillan with him back to Seattle.

I hope someone steps forward and has KP's back. He needs support for the great job he's done thus far in only a few short years.

cause .... if you have watched sports you can tell when a franchise is parting ways. the way miller spoke says it all. im telling you... kp will be gone by summer if he doesnt resign himself.

not to mention... when this kind of stuff gets lose to the press.. its over. its over.

MIXUM, you're frequently wrong and always a cynic of mammoth proportions, but I think you got it right this time.

Really??? Why???

And please dont just say "cause"

1. Vulcan / Paul Allen have been media silent throughout. If they wanted him or at least didn't have a serious grudge, they would and could step in to put out this fire.

2. Did you see KP??? When asked whether he expected to be here next year...said "I don't know" but the body language was SCREAMING "I doubt it".

3. An agent talks for their client and KP hasn't distanced himself from his. For KP to go public through his agent talking about the TP firing being a Vulcan "drive-by" says something really ugly has gone on behind the scenes.

4. If the relationship between the parties is that bad, there's no way an owner with control like Allen doesn't replace him.

I just dont see any logic in that kind of decision, and i really dont think PA is that stupid, it would regress the franchise back to 2003 in terms of its relations with the fans

When it becomes personal (which it sounds like this mess has) there's no accounting for 'logic' ... and really the only way this hurts fan relations is if the team's on-court product suffers.

By not stupid you mean would never give Darius Miles a huge contract stupid?

(sorry that's the low hanging fruit)

Maybe the silver lining is gone for Paul Allen.
Looking back before this season it was looking like this team could win multiple championships.

Now with all the injuries, it being evident that LMA is nowhere near as good as advertised, Roy maybe not taking the final step up to superstar, and Oden not even being able to stay on the court, Allen has made a decision.
The Blazers have now regressed to being unsure of even one championship win, and, maybe a decision was made with Pauls own health in mind. Maybe he thinks he doesn't really have a chance to see that come to fruition if his health is deteriorating.

Perhaps Paul Allen has decided to do what is best for the 'Business' side of the team, with his families future in mind?

I hope not, but just trying to read between the lines like everyone else.

Except that KP has been pretty effective in positioning himself with the fans as a major cog in the revitalization of the franchise. I don't know if he is, and there are rumblings of attention/credit seeking with KP, but I tend to buy that he's a primary piece. I think the damage to fan relations is on the PR side and whether fans / ticket buyers start losing confidence.

All this said, if KP is fired but progress continues and the team has success it will be forgotten. If KP is fired and the team regresses, starts showing signs off going of the rails it will be yet another Vulcan screw-up.

I'd bet on this happening if Pritchard is let go.

If it was just a simple GM swap I don't know...but unfortunately all signs seem to be pointing towards the Vulcan suits asserting more control and KP fighting it. So, if KP goes, my guess is there is a big power grab from non-basketball idiots..that's the part that can derail this organization.

I just watched this whole situation unfold with the Seahawks so I have a pretty good idea how it goes. All they would do is hire new people and give them the reigns, much like they gave to KP. Only problem is that person wouldn't be as good as KP.

There's one type of person they don't like and that's people who have their own vision of how they see things. Mike Holmgren was this kind of person, and that's why Tod Leiweke declined to bring Holmgren back as the GM and instead brought in a guy that's never been a GM before. Pritchard is much like Holmgren in that he has a vision of how things should go and I don't think the Vulcans/Tod Leiweke like those kind of people.

Sad, that these days, in sport it's:

$$$$$ > all.

(sorry that's the low hanging fruit)
while I was against giving DM that contract the day it was announced because it was A) too much and B) all the other teams with capspace that offseason had already blown their wad, I don't think thats a fair criticism of PA. Miles was off to a decent enough start after resigning but then suffered a couple severe knee injuries. On top of the several times his knees had already gone under the knife his body was done.

Injuries have ended or severely altered the careers of players far more talented then Miles. I don't hold management accountable for not having clairvoyance. I especially don't hold it against the owner for backing the decision of his management... thats what a good owner does. If said management establishes a pattern of truly bad decisions and the owner subsequently fires them/lets them go (as was the case here) I really don't see how the owner is to blame.

STOMP

kpee has taken us as far as he can.... allen knows it. now you bring in a vet gm to finish the puzzle

one of my biggest issue on here is posters still think we are rebuilding and we arent. allen again could be sicker then we know... and wants to win now. its really reading between the lines. something many on here cant do.

Months ago, I predicted that Allen's health issues were going to change the rules of the game, and that KP had to adapt or he would be in trouble. What I never expected, was for the organization to be this ham-fisted about it.

They should have kept the lid on this while the team was involved in a play-off race. Barring that, either give KP a vote of confidence, or fire him and explain why. Don't have the guy twist in the wind, and don't treat the fans like mushrooms. (ie kept in the dark and fed manure) :smiley-flaming:
