Thanks Mods!

Re: Merged: OT: Telfair 17 pts, 11 assts, 5 game win streak (+other ex-Blazers do stu

Ex-Blazer threads are merged on the main board, and deceased BLAZER fan threads are jettisoned to the OT board without any comment.

Re: OT: Telfair 17 pts, 11 assts, 5 game win streak

When we did our West predictions before the season, I put Minnesota at 9. They really have a bunch of good players. Looks like I wasn't that far off. They have a great shot at 10!

Haha... they're already at 11. 7-3 in their last 10.

They're not going to get to .500, but 25 or 30 wins isn't out of the question if they can keep beating bad teams.

Ban Papa G, please. You sound like me in the old days. You're right but you're wrong. Calm down.

They're at 10 actually, just ahead of Memphis, I believe.

Someone's a little grumpy?

Someone's a little grumpy?

Yeah. I admit, I have a problem with a mod here not confessing to moving a thread dedicated to the life of a young woman who as a last wish wanted to see one more Blazer game before she died.

Whoa, let's not confuse people with the fact here.

What are your sources that indicate my "fact" is wrong?

Please let me and everyone else know how I'm wrong (again).

KThanx.

Why won't you move the Katie Shearer thread back to the appropriate forum?

Precedent is set.

Sticky this thread as the default OT thread for former Blazers.

Re: OT: Telfair 17 pts, 11 assts, 5 game win streak

Could you give an example?

Thought he was a lot bigger of a deal than he actually was. His little gucci fits and crazy outfits he wore were a joke. I just always thought he was a douche.

Re: Merged: OT: Telfair 17 pts, 11 assts, 5 game win streak (+other ex-Blazers do stu

He always wore jeans as what I remember leaving the rose garden. No decent outfits that tied in with each other. He always had studded diamonds in his ears. No style whats-so-ever. The guy had no fashion sense and personality to whatever he wore. It was always out of whack.

You know what PapaG, I'm sure you're going to make me out to be an insensitive prick, but I really don't care. I personally think stories like that have no business being in the sports section. A lot of people, myself included, follow sports to escape their problems. Escape the world and things like the recession. They turn on the game, and for a couple hours they only think about NBA basketball. Not their jobs, not their homework, not their bills... just basketball.

My Grandmother died from cancer. She was a HUGE Blazers fan. Why do I want to open the Oregonian, turn to the sports section, and read a story about a girl dying from cancer? If Canzano wants to tell her story, there's absolutely nothing wrong with that and I commend him for it, but he should have done it where it belonged... in the living section.

Now, you're crying because the mods made the correct decision, the decision that Canzano and his editor failed to do... They kept something that was unrelated to sports in its proper place.

Thank you for telling me how you feel the board should be run, as well as the Oregonian sports page. I hope you feel as good as I do for expressing your own opinion.

Telfair is still undersized, still can't shoot, and still can't defend. :dunno:

I don't know if I agree with that. It's not like her story dominated the broadcast of an NBA game. That should be your escape from the world -- is watching the Blazers play.
The job of a newspaper is tell the different stories out there, and this one has seemingly been able to touch a lot of people in a Blazer-related way. That's the beauty of sports, is that it reaches out to so many different kinds of people.
Canzano's piece reminds me of something you'd read by Rick Reilly, and his column was the most prominent in Sports Illustrated before he left.
Sports journalism today is more than just straight play by play of a game..

Alex, I understand what you're saying, and I'm not saying that all human interest pieces are bad. That story about Brian Grant and the kid that he befriended was a perfect example of the kind of story that I love seeing in the sports section. Or the thing about Natalie Gilbert.
