Depends. Was Boston demanding Sharpe, Simons, and Scoot?Someone on x says that Dame talked Jaylen Brown into coming to Portland and Joe said no. That’s damning if true.

no superteams on Jody's watchSomeone on x says that Dame talked Jaylen Brown into coming to Portland and Joe said no. That’s damning if true.
This is what they call "shitposting," right?

Something really pissed Dame off enough to want out. It seemed all I heard from Dame and Joe last year were all on the same page.I heard rumors it was Brown for Ant and #3 and yes this led to the abrupt breakdown in the relationship.
Supposedly Joe said all last season to Dame if you sit and help us tank we'll get a pick and trade it for you to get help.
Totally can understand why Dame would be furious and want out as it would seem he was mislead.
I still fault Dame more in all of this if it's true for his cryptic public comments and 1 team demand though.
and Coach Billups gets job security. Nice little setup, the pressure to win is turned off, while Blazer fans get draft fever.Something really pissed Dame off enough to want out. It seemed all I heard from Dame on Joe last year were all on the same page.
In my mind Joe failed, in not being able to back up what he said to Dame and fans what he was going to do. He probably tried to pull off something and couldn't make it happen , so it is easier to rebuild and buys Joe some job security.
lolSomeone on x says that...
Actually very sad that it's hard to prove this statement wrong.
I would flip Herro and Nurkic for Lively straight up for what it's worth. That dudes gonna be a stud.Flip Green and Hardaway's destinations, and give us all the picks, and that's not bad. Don't know that Dallas would give Green, Lively and a pick for Nurk and Herro, but if they would, I'd be down.

Why would the Mavs give up Lively for Nurk or Herro though?I would flip Herro and Nurkic for Lively straight up for what it's worth. That dudes gonna be a stud.
Why?Why would the Mavs give up Lively for Nurk or Herro though?
But it totally misses the point. So what if Herro might currently be the best player on a rebuilding Blazers roster? The question is whether he is the right guy to look to be a pillar on the future rebuilt team. I think the answer is no. Herro is pretty much at his ceiling and he plays the same position as Shaedon. Scoot and Sharpe are just beginning to tap their potential. The Blazers need other quality players at positions of need or assets that can bring those players in the future. Tying up money and PT in Herro makes no sense.
Scoot, Sharpe, Grant are better than Herro. Ant is about the same.Actually very sad that it's hard to prove this statement wrong.

His absence wasn't missed in the playoffs. No one seems to be willing to trade for him.
The Mavs traded DFS and got noticeably worse on defense, to the point they had to tank to draft Lively. Their problem clearly became defense, why are they taking on 3 years of Nurk and 4 years of Herro? Why?
The western conference is going to be tougher than last season, and the Mavs didn't even make the playoffs last season.
It's not sad, let alone "very sad" as it will be proven wrong very quickly.Actually very sad that it's hard to prove this statement wrong.
Anything can happen with the Dallas Mavericks. The Mavs traded DFS and got noticeably worse on defense, to the point they had to tank to draft Lively. Their problem clearly became defense, why are they taking on 3 years of Nurk and 4 years of Herro?
Don’t get me wrong, you ABSOLUTELY have to do the trade if it’s available to us. Lively is going to be a life-changer on defense.
I thought @hoopsjock was reporting that on draft night. Correct me if I'm wrong @BonesJones or hoopsjock. If this is a separate source that would be pretty interesting.Someone on x says that Dame talked Jaylen Brown into coming to Portland and Joe said no. That’s damning if true.
there were whispers of Jaylen Brown to Portland floating around, but nobody took it too seriously. The BU podcast added a lot more substance to that rumor just recently. More or less, Lillard and Grant recruited Jaylen Brown, he had his bags packed, and Cronin didn't pick up the phone. Joe had his 3 rookies credit card, and never called nobody.I thought @hoopsjock was reporting that on draft night. Correct me if I'm wrong @BonesJones or hoopsjock. If this is a separate source that would be pretty interesting.
Honestly I think that Joe and Mike's grade on Scoot was just too high for us to reasonably get Dame established help. I don't think Joe is currently trying to engineer a plan to keep Dame and I think Dame will be on another team soon enough. I think it was a very calculated decision from Joe and the only calculation that Cronin didn't account for was the idea that Dame would only put one team on his list and that Goodwin would spread all of that shit about Dame being disgruntled or not reporting anywhere but Miami.
Eric from Blazers Uprise had a nice little chat with Heat podcasters yesterday, who were asking for a complete breakdown why Lillard submitted his trade request.
Brandt brings up there was a real possibility that Jaylen Brown could have been a Blazer at 38:14. While adding some of the "swing for the fences" rumors were totally faked, leaked for Blazers PR purposes.
And Bones knows this how?
Ok. From what I’ve heard from people in the building is that is not the case. Certainly not saying I’m right, but I have had conversations and that is not how the story wentThat was Hoopsjock not Bones. He's been very on point with his other reporting (broke the Grant trade news months early). I believe he has some real insight; although its more of a one sided story he's getting from Dame's camp.
And Bones knows this how?
The story I got was that Brown was talked about, but the price was not what the Blazers wanted to spend. Also were not 100% convinced he’d re-signIt just feels like a bit of a stretch to believe that for a guy like Brown, who makes 30 million next year and is 26, was going to be traded for just Simons and the 3rd. There's no way that Boston wouldn't have asked for Sharpe too.
I'm not really sure that Brown would've put the Blazers in a better position than they were already. To trade for him, they would've had to trade away a bare min of #3 and Simons (and likely more), and other future assets. All that, PLUS the impending almost 300 million they'd be paying him going forward, in addition to the already 200+ they owe Damian, would be a total clusterfuck to do. That team wouldn't be winning a title, and would be paying Damian, Brown and Grant 103 million (based on what Grant actually got), and would probably have no re-signed Thybulle too.
So that team would be Dame, Brown, unknown, Grant and Nurk (those 4 alone are about 119 million in salaries), with an anemic bench.
That team isn't better than the Suns or the Nuggets. Hell, I'm not sure that team even gets HCA.
On top of that, Brown had almost zero leverage there. How many teams, where his situation would be good (good team etc.) where he'd get the money he got from Boston?
This smells like spin that someone fell for.
The story I got was that Brown was talked about, but the price was not what the Blazers wanted to spend. Also were not 100% convinced he’d re-sign
Teams knew the Blazers were in a bit of a pickle and were asking a lot for the players the team was targeting
But who knows?
