Minnesota wants Batum @ 11.25M a year

Look at Iggy, he was kicking ass when he was Batum's age. Hardly any player suddenly becomes a star after 4 years in the league. Batum is what he is. Take the sign and trade Blazers!

Truth, baby. Preach that shit

This. I can't believe the Blazers would think twice about shipping off Batum if Iggy were available. If it's not a good fit, he's only got one more season left on his contract.

I'd rather see Minnesota hamstring themselves and cut half their team, renounce Darko and trade away their PG's and then end up with nothing.

According to the source, the way to get Batum here is still via a sign-and-trade. David Kahn, the Wolves' president of basketball operations, will continue to talk with the Portland Trail Blazers throughout the weekend.

One scenario involves a three-way trade with Philadelphia. Andre Iguodala would go to Portland, Derrick Williams would go as part of a package to the Sixers and Batum would come to Minnesota. So far, Portland is balking.

As for the MIN scenario waiving Webster and Miller--they better get hot on that, unless the new CBA got rid of this rule:
NBA CBA 101 as of 2010 said:
From August 15 through the end of the season, the time period for a player to clear waivers is 48 hours. From the day following the end of the season through August 14, the time period for a player to clear waivers is seven days.

Are we balking to get more? Batum for iggy is a no brainer

Im curious how Dilly and Turner would play together!

Even a bigger no-brainer. The dilemma for me would be if I had to choose between Turner and Williams.

Blazers hold the cards. Play hardball. Send out Wes and Batum, and something else enticing.

Bring back Iggy and ET!!!

I really want Williams. The guy's mid range game needs improvement, but I would like a big physical SF for other teams to have to match up with. Assuming we do not get Hibbert. If we got Hibbert then I would want to keep Batum. But I could live with a LMA, Leonard, and Williams from line.

You gotta go with Turner or Williams, I'd make that trade in a heartbeat, even more capspace and acquiring good young assets with some significant upside. I think I go for a Wlliams/Ridnour deal

Heard that "Option C" for Batum via his agent is to just play one year on the Q.O. and do it over again next year w/out the Blazers being able to interfere.

Now THAT would be a "fuck you!!", unlike what's been said to this point.

It's really the only leverage Nic has, and it's the only leverage Oden ever had.

I think "Option C" makes a Sign and Trade a likely ending to this, if the Blazers find the right player in return.

I'd love that trade. Rid's turned out to be a steady/average pro who can still drive and dish, and isn't going to kill you like a Felton, and Williams has a ton of potential and didn't get any opportunity or coaching last year in Minnesota with Love dominating that team.

His agent knows Minny doesn't have the money for the contract they offered Batum. Only way he gets that contract is forcing a S&T.

It would be interesting to see what the Blazers do if Batum doesn't sign an offer sheet with anyone, and just decided to accept the Q.O. That won't make for an awkward season at all!

There are some decent S and T options out there, and the Rid/Derrick Williams one is very intriguing, no?
