Despite my absolute LOATHING for the game of baseball, I am HIGHLY interested in the naming/branding.
So Portland Pacifists is out?The best marke
Roses...wow I'm not sure that would go over well in Stump Town. Its got to be 110% ferocious or manly. PDX has to repair the perception this town has earned over he last few years.
Fisting would give a whole new meaning to the 7th inning stretchSo Portland Pacifists is out?
What if we shorten it to The Fists?
It's a nice way to spend a summer evening with friends or family. I don't know about doing it 40 times a year though.I admit baseball can be boring to watch on TV but I would wager that you would end up enjoying going to the ball park on nice warm summer evening. Especially in such a beautiful setting as the one proposed.....if they can pull it off. You will get into it.
This has always been my preference, despite the Lewis and Clark college issue (which really shouldn't be an issue).
Yup - everything about the Blazers is the best and most unique in all of sports! I absolutely love the fact that we have an abstract logo! All this posturing makes you only appreciate the name Trail Blazers even more.
I've been to a few Mariners games and ended up leaving early because it was so boring.I admit baseball can be boring to watch on TV but I would wager that you would end up enjoying going to the ball park on nice warm summer evening. I really like that idea. What name do you propose with it?What about having it be the Rose City (Insert Name Here) kind of like the Golden State Warriors? Even though the Warriors is a very generic sports name it makes it a lot more unique than calling them the Oakland Warriors.
Rose City Racists?I really like that idea. What name do you propose with it?

I love to try and catch foul balls or home runs, so knowing that at any point a ball could fly at you is something that keeps me engaged.I think the people claiming boredom at baseball games are missing the point.
Baseball is a regional sport. There are diehard fans in places like Philly, NY, Bos, etc. because they were around since birth.
In Portland, at least at the beginning, you'd probably want to go for the good times with friends, or you kids. As the years pass, the passion will grow.
Don't go to baseball games to be on the edge of your seat. Go to relax, have a few beverages, and hang out.
But why? I can do that with friends at a bar with a nice patio and not pay double-price for my drinks. Or in a park or one of our backyards for half the price of going to a bar.Don't go to baseball games to be on the edge of your seat. Go to relax, have a few beverages, and hang out.

Cause you get competition as wellBut why? I can do that with friends at a bar with a nice patio and not pay double-price for my drinks. Or in a park or one of our backyards for half the price of going to a bar.
That's a terrible idea.Baseball is fixable. Cut it to 6 innings, enforce that pitch clock, and cut the season in half. You'd fill every seat in these stadiums.
Too caught up in history and all time stats.
Was it an indoor stadium? I went once at the Kingdome, and I agree it had little appeal to me. I like sitting outdoors at a baseball game. If it isn't outdoors I won't go.I've been to a few Mariners games and ended up leaving early because it was so boring.
Both Kingdome and Safeco Field. Was it an indoor stadium? I went once at the Kingdome, and I agree it had little appeal to me. I like sitting outdoors at a baseball game. If it isn't outdoors I won't go.
One thing with this site... how the hell are they going to get people in and out? Traffic will be horrible unless theres a major roadway redesign...
You want to elaborate why? That's a terrible idea.
Because they have bigger stadiums... Comparing MLB attendance to NBA attendance is absolutely ridiculous. The MLB has 30K-40K seat stadiums, compared to 18K-20K capacity NBA stadiums.. But if you want to compare, MLB averaged 28K fans per game last year. The NBA averaged 18K.You want to elaborate why?
5 teams this past season couldn't even fill half their seats in 82 home games. The lowest so far this season in the NBA is Minny, and they still have > 75% attendance.
If baseball wants viewers, it needs massive changes, but they're too caught up in their own past to ever change. Ain't nobody got time to spend 4 hrs watching a 2-1 game with 3 hits. Repeat that 162 times and you've got a completely disengaged fan.
