Would getting Danny Green, Plumlee, Hibbert, Noah and Anderson be enough to keep Aldridge?

Too many.people are fixated on Hibbert... blocked shots are great and all but I will take 1 block and 10 boards over 2 blocks and 7 boards, all day long.
When Hibbert was on his way to becoming the best Center in the NBA, before George cheated on his fiancé, he was blocking almost 3 shots and grabbing 9 boards. If a change of scenery could get him back to that level, I would believe he is more than capable of giving us 10 boards and 3 blocks a game. Also, Hibbert is a great pick and roll player. He sets mean picks, even when he was going through the mental lapses.Too many.people are fixated on Hibbert... blocked shots are great and all but I will take 1 block and 10 boards over 2 blocks and 7 boards, all day long.
my idea to go along with this is either signing Tyson Chandler for $10M or Brandon Wright for $5MHibbert really doesn't seem like he fits in the new NBA. ALSO, the Blazers seem to be focusing on athleticism, the same way GS is built. Minus Bogut, who probably would be considered a poor athlete, their roster is athletic, we need to keep up with that. If they feel they need to add a center, and I'm not sure they think that with Plumlee and Leonar_, who they like, already here, I think they would want to add someone who wouldn't cause the offense to grind to a halt.

Very true, but if you get the Hibbert of 2 years ago, he would be better than any center we have or can afford to bring in. It's a risk, but only a 1 year risk. Hibbert has only 1 more year on his contract. If he's what brass expects, they can go over cap to keep him. If he isn't, then we have Plumlee and Nards to move on with, while having max to offer Durant next summer. You know who else sets great picks? Mason Plumlee. He is a tremendous P&R guy, who can dive to the basket and finish with athleticism
Shawn kemp before he got hooked on coke and the bottle. Before Vin Baker decided to drown his sorrows with the bottle...

Hibbert isn't very high reward. He's sluggish, unathletic, and not skilled offensively. Why not stick with Plumlee and spend that $15M elsewhere? Here's the thing. There isn't a player right now available that is a very high reward, low risk player like Hibbert. It's a 1 year trial. If Aldridge tells you "I will trust you and sign if you get Hibbert" then it's a win win scenario. You have 1 year to see, and if you don't get what you want, you drop his 15 mil in cap space and go after LBJ or Durrant next summer. Wouldn't we be in a better position to have that flexibility than to have players in contract and not enough cap space to get a marquee player like Durant next summer?
Every big man on the market has flaws and is a costly commodity. I can't get fired up over the Monroe/Hibbert/Jordan debate for the simple reason that none of them are that great and all of them are (or will be) overpaid.
Maybe it's time to apply a bit of the "Moneyball" philosophy?

yeah but I don't think Hibbert would get calls and you don't want Jordan at the line, so I guess moneyball would at least work for centersThe problem with moneyball in the NBA is the X Factor..... the refs. They'll totally fuck you over with their superstar agenda.
I don't believe that he's going to be as sluggish as you suggest. Remember how many criticized the Lopez Acquisition, claiming he couldn't rebound or score? His first year, he was an immediate improvement! Hibbert has more talent, better anticipation for help d and I believe a better rebounder. If Olshey does get Hibbert, all of you guys will be surprised!Hibbert isn't very high reward. He's sluggish, unathletic, and not skilled offensively. an improvement over the 6'8 JJ Hickson at starting center? Not saying much. Rolo is an average to below average starting center. Hibbert is the exact same player, just 2 inches taller with attitude problems and a bad contract.I don't believe that he's going to be as sluggish as you suggest. Also, his contract is only 1 year. It's not like he's a 15 mil for the next 3 player. Getting Jordan would force us to guarantee at least 56 mil.
Bad contract? Bro, it's 1 year! Lolan improvement over the 6'8 JJ Hickson at starting center? Not saying much. Rolo is an average to below average starting center. Hibbert is the exact same player, just 2 inches taller with attitude problems and a bad contract.
yeah, a year in which we have tons of cap space to add multiple role players and difference makers that we could instead use gambling on an average center with attitude problems. Think about it.Bad contract? Bro, it's 1 year! Lol

We will have even more cap space next year, if we don't resign Hibbert.yeah, a year in which we have tons of cap space to add multiple role players and difference makers that we could instead use gambling on an average center with attitude problems. Think about it.
I've suggested trading for Wilson Chandler who has 1 year left. Most free agents will want a one year deal anyways.Better to have cap space next summer, actually.

we'll have the same amountWe will have even more cap space next year, if we don't resign Hibbert.
If the Blazers renounce enough of their FAs and exceptions to come up with $9.5M in cap space, they can do it, right?
Yes, I was talking specifically about June 30. After that, cap space is fine to use, though until August 24 you still can only trade Henderson, Vonleh or Plumlee by themselves.
