It would be so difficult to have to wait 20 years (almost) to bring an NBA team back.

The NBA really fucked this up. Charlotte, ffs, waited 2 seasons, to get a team back after the original Hornets left.

2 years.

The NBA does not seem to like or care about the PNW. Just take Dame for example. Dude was killing it in Portland for a decade plus and then goes to Milwaukee and has the worst season of his career and gets the All-Star starter nod. The NBA knows this is the Siberia of sports. Nobody is up late enough to watch us.

I noticed that too. Finally out of shitsville, and they can show just how awesome he was suddenly (tho like you said, he's having a down season compared to the last 8).

It just goes to show the NBA don't give two shits about us, but it REALLY shows just how badly Olshey fucked things up.

He also wasn't up against Luka or Steph or SGA, which helped his cause. The West has had some really really good point guards over the last... what.... 15 years?

Unlike, say, the LA market?

The thing is if Seattle gets a team and maybe Las Vegas Portland could become part of a better market area that also includes The Current Champions and the TWolves that seem to have finally found some success. The Division is pretty tough as it stands.

What's Nards up to these days anyways?

that's real funny....panic came calling

pretty sad that a dumbass anti-Semitic remark in a video game 3 years ago ended his career and ruined his reputation

Nah, he's just not that good. If he could play defense and rebound he would still be in the NBA.

Looks like Portland will never host. And that doesn't bother me one bit.

yeah, our convention center's what, 40% of the minimum size?

That seems like a strange, arbitrary qualifier.

So I know a little bit about what's coming. Portland will have at least one more 5 star pretty quick called Cascadia. And they are going to build the Hyatt Place which will also be 5 star 23 story building with about 200 more rooms. Choice Cambria will have just under 200 rooms also but I'm not sure that will be 5 star?
There is also the Kimpton Riverplace that is very close to 5 star.
The Hotel issue is getting fixed.

Now the convention center is a problem. After the 2019 renovation they have hit a standstill. They actually need to build pretty much a whole new convention center. They could do another addition but It's never going to reach 500,000+ Sq Ft. The conversation is that the Coliseum again is in the way. Seems to always come down to why are we saving the coliseum?

Flights won't be a problem at all here in another year. PDX is in the middle of a huge upgrade. 75 nonstop domestic and 20 international will be an easy target.

Silver will just move the goal post when Portland infrastructure is close.

We should have our own All-Star game. We will call it the MegaBowl.

He just did and we are still close is all I'm saying. The Convention center is the big problem. the question there though is Portland still has the expo center available and the Coliseum so some of that might fill some of the void?
