You guys that keep bellowing out that Luka was worth more, don't you think any team talking to Dallas would be wondering why the f they were even shopping him? It wouldn't surprise me if they knew the locations Luka would actually appreciate going to so those teams had assurances he would resign with them too.

It's not an amazing haul but I think we are seeing the markets are drastically changed with this cba. Anthony Davis at least an elite player.
Its a complete fail from the Mavs - they could have got one of the biggest hauls in NBA history. There is a reason tons of independent media grade the trade as an F for the Mavs.

If they were set on getting Davis at least get more than one FRP??? They could have got the 2031 pick, 4 swaps, Reaves, Knecht - its just insane.

Look at an older Durant that wasn't close the level of player as Luka nor as young. Phoenix got Bridges, Cam, 4 FRP, multiple swaps.

Then Bridges gets dealt for 5 FRP.

This is the worst trade in NBA history. There is no excuse from the Mavs end.

You honestly think Anthony Davis is the shittiest possible deal? Seriously?
You mean the Anthony Davis that is 32 years old, selected to ONE allstar game in the prior three seasons, and has been injured so often he played a whole 36,40,56 games prior to last season?

Were talking about him being traded for a perennial MVP candidate (of which Davis has NEVER been) that was not even at his prime yet at 25 years old and just got his team to the finals. This is clearly the most lopsided trade in NBA history.

Realgm is rife with speculators theories in a thread. Foil hat needed for that one.

What is Mark Cuban saying about this? He's the best owner in the NBA, way better than Jody and the Vulcans, according to some.

And how about that "Big big market" Dallas has?

he sold his majority stake and hasn’t had team control for over a year

he sold his majority stake and hasn’t had team control for over a year

Who is the current owner(s)?

found the answer:
"Cuban, who bought the team in 2000, sold his majority stake in 2023.

The sale gave control of the franchise to the family of Miriam Adelson, who run the Las Vegas Sands casino company."

Vegas casino money

I kind of wondered when Irving sat out and the team got down by 40 in the first half. The players all knew Luka was their star and leader. I'm betting they end up missing the playoffs. Right now they're the 9th seed.

Worst trade in NBA history.

To gift Luka to the fucking Lakers??? Out of all the damn franchises that didn't deserve a gift.

Cuban sold the team and confirmed he had zero involvement on the decision to trade Luka.

Cuban previously said if he had to choose between his wife and Luka he's calling a divorce attorney.

Big trade for the Spurs getting Fox. Makes sense they send out four first round picks, thats normally the cost to add a star. The Spurs and Thunder are going to be amazing the next decade.

Even with the Lakers gifted Luka they might be a distant 3rd nearly all of those years. But he legit could be the best player of any of the teams, or really the best player in the whole NBA. So he and the Lakers will certainly have a very real chance.

The west is going to be damn hard for us and other teams to compete in the next decade.

Why even watch the NBA? lol none of this shit matters when Luka gets "traded" (almost certain there's collusion and yes i know there's a thread for it)

It's literally too stupid of a trade to not have the stench of collusion wafting over it.

He actually said “Shottiest Possible Deal”.
You actually made my point. Minus the fact the guy recently lead a team to a championship.

This made Zach Lowe interrupt his hiatus by tweeting a 17 minutes breakdown. I wish the Lowe Post would be back.

essentially it was 3 first's. The Charlotte 1st will not convey. The 2027 Spur's first will probably be in the 20's. Minny's 2031 is too far out to assess

the Chicago pick was top-10 protected and the Bulls are currently 9th in the lottery, a half game ahead of Portland. So that first is unlikely to convey considering they won't have LaVine. It was top-8 protected in the 26 & 27 drafts

The Spurs still have their own 1st this year, plus the unprotected Atlanta first. Wouldn't it be just like the fucking Spurs to jump from the back of the lottery to 1st in line...

so even after that trade, the Spurs are rich with draft picks. In 2026 they have the rights to an unprotected swap with Atlanta; in 2027 they have Atlanta's unprotected 1st; in 2028 they have the right to swap with Boston (probably won't be conveyed); In 2029 they have their own 1st; in 2030, they have the most favorable of a 3 way swap of first's between them, Minny, and Dallas; They have their own first in 2031; and over the next 7 years they have 21 second round picks

in other words, after technically trading 4 first round picks today, over the next 7 drafts they have 8 first round picks, a couple with a chance of being in the lottery not counting the possible 2 this season; and a bazillion 2nd round picks

Does Kyrie have any good history with Davis? Prior to Dallas Kyrie had been a mess in Brooklyn, Boston, and even the end of his time in Cleveland.

Honestly wouldn't be surprised to hear Kyrie is sitting out right now and demands a trade by Thursday.

Would be hilarious if he forces his way to the Lakers.

No way in hell. They just made sure that he can demand a max extension from Dallas - they can't say no to him. That's a great place to be for an older player like him. They basically built him the team NeO failed to build for Dame. Long, tough defenders everywhere, some shooting, and him as the primary ball handler / creator.
