My bet is his agent is advising him to get the 4-5 year deal now.
My bet is that his agent already knows there is a contract out there from some team that maybe doesn't get him 23M next season but starts close to that and is a lot longer. I don't see FVV taking a big pay cut from the 23M and I would bet they know he can get a lot more years.

I do wonder if him opting out would make it any more likely that they would move on from Siakam and try to go younger with OG and Barnes as their forwards and maybe not even re-sign Poeltle but draft a big.

I don't think they want Trent Jr back either. So Ant and Scoot might look pretty good if he falls to us.

So it would have to be Ant and Nas or Ant, Keon and Knox... I do not think Siakam is worth Ant and Scoot. I think he is worth Scoot. So we would need, I guess pick 13 coming back with Siakam.

The Wizards have granted Bradley Beal permission to talk with other teams regarding a potential trade. Beal is the only player in the NBA with a full no-trade clause.

So unimpressed with that dude. Outside of Kevin Love, I thought Beal looked the worst during all the Olympic exhibition games.

I love MJ but a whole lot of my friends and family who are Hornets fans are very happy with him selling. Best player of all time but bad owner.

This is another reason I don’t like mortgaging the future to build around 33 year old Dame… other teams will get better too! No one we can trade for will compete with Beal/Booker/Durant, let alone the Denver Nuggets… and you know the Lakers will make moves too. Bridges just won’t get us there… no matter how good he is on defense… and you lose Simons 23 points per game in the process. Zion is the ONLY move that makes us competitive now AND keeps the future bright, pairing him with Sharpe after Dame.

And what in the world does Phoenix have that Washington wants? Ayton? Does Washington really want Ayton if they are heading into a rebuild?

I'd wonder if it's Chris Paul and his partially guaranteed contract. Suns don't have any 1st's to trade so the best they can offer is to save Washington 190M in salary....which is considerable

and of course Beal has the Wizards over a no-trade-clause barrel

I think you are kind of reaching there. Either way, there will always be other teams that are going to get better.
Going younger just gives more teams time to do so.

It’s not reaching, it’s being realistic with timelines. I’d rather roll the dice with Simons/Sharpe/Miller or Scoot 3-5 years from now than trade away valuable building blocks and think a newly assembled roster will be good enough, have no injuries, and gel quick enough with a 33, 34, and 35 year old Dame to have a serious chance at competing for a championship.

I will call it now if Ayton goes to Washington the Wizards will be looking to trade Gafford and he would be a perfect backup center and good spot starter when Nurk gets banged up so I would not be surprised to see the Blazers linked to him IF this happens.

I'd love to have Gafford off the bench.

The Heats offer is apparently Lowry, one of Robinson or Oladipo and a 1st. Why would Washington do that?
Probably why Phoenix is supposedly the team more likely landing him. Miami seems like they're as delusional as their fans... they probably also think they have what it would take to add Dame to Jimmy and Bam.
