I’m sorry, but it’s time to trade Dame. There are no moves Blazers can make to compete with Suns, or Nuggets. Time to be realistic and not throw away the next decade by trading the 3rd pick.
The Suns will have a hard time getting all of those guys capable of scoring 30 to score even 25 a game and their defense doesn't look great. The Nuggets are now the top team in the league but let's say we pull off a three team trade with the Pels and Magic. We end up with Zion and WCJ while giving up #3, Ant and Nurk (Gary Harris goes to the Pels to make salaries work). Then we draft a guy at 23 that can effectively backup the 4 and 5 spot... maybe it's the slipping GG Jackson. Then we re-sign Jerami and Matisse and sign a backup PG like Jevon Carter with the TPMLE.

I think a rotation of Dame, Shae, Jerami, Zion, WCJ, Matisse, Carter, Nas and a first round rookie big could be just as good as the Nuggets. If a trade like that can't come together and we just end up drafting Scoot or Miller at 3 and BPA at 23 then yeah I think Dame will want to have that talk and Joe should want to as well and then we use Dame's trade value to build onto the young squad that would already be taking shape but let's not call the game before it's over.

Still waiting for the package you expect back for Dame that gives us the incentive to move him. You saw what Washington got back for Beal. Yes, Dame is better than Beal because he is a PG...but still, who are we getting back that it is worth repeating your point over and over? Just clearing his salary? That is not smart IMO.
I do not want Dame traded but everyone from Windy, to Woj, to Shams has said that because of Beal's no trade clause it was going to be a very small return for him and that Dame would bring back a haul if we decide to trade him. I believe those guys. A lot of teams would want him and all we have to do in order to do right by Dame is get him to a place where he can win. I doesn't have to be the Nets and it definitely doesn't have to be Miami, there will be a lot of suitors with a lot of different packages that would help push the youth rebuild forward.

Just off the top of my head, if we negotiated the deal for Dame with the Nets before free agency but didn't execute it until July 10 then we could get the rights to pick 21 and 22, we could probably get them to take Nurk and give us Claxton, we'd probably get expiring contracts because they have quite a few of those or Ben Simmons and we'd likely get two or three future firsts. That's a haul.

Suns' owner is a douchebag but he ain't cheap.

Asinine in what little the Wiz got in return. Call them the Blizzard , because they did the deal in a white out.

So how will they make that work? Get rid of Ayton?? I don't get it.
Me neither. They have 170 mil. locked up in 5 players. But the team will be Eclipsed by 10, count'em 10 G Leagues at min. salary.

The Suns will now need depth. What about Ayton for Nurk + Little + Keon? It saves them 6.5M AND give them a much needed depth.

I too think Ayton will be dealt for depth.

It’s more about not trading the 3rd pick… that is a major asset to give up so Dame can play with his buddy. No move makes these team a true contender. Don’t want to mortgage the future. You team Sharpe with Scoot or Miller and that is a very bright future.

Yes, you said before when I ask for a worthwhile package in return, but your post usually starts out with "It is time to trade Dame". Not "keep Dame and keep the pick". That is two entirely different conversations. I have said multiple times I would trade Dame if we got someone young and very good back in return. Personally, a bunch of non-lottery picks doesn't do it for me. I want a package back that OKC got for Paul George

They haven't done anything to trigger either hard cap. So they can re-sign all of the guys they have exceptions on, right? Landale is a RFA with early bird rights... I don't know if he'll get a lot more than 3M on the open market but he could be gone. Darius Bazley is theirs if they want him because he's an RFA with full bird rights. Torrey Craig made 6.7 last season and they have early bird rights on him, I don't think anyone will offer him more money. So that's two or three role players off the bench that they might have but yeah the rest will be min contracts.

I would but I really like Ayton and think Dame could get more out of him than he's shown up until now.

But all those guys suck balls.

When Nets got KD, the overwhelming reaction wasthey were to be feared and win multiple championships.

When Suns got KD, the overwhelming reaction was might as well hand them the trophy

Things happen. Games gotta be played. Let's not crown them champs so fast. There is only one ball.

Miami isn't that dumb. Beal had a NTC. He had WW over a barrel if they want to rebuild. "Trade me to PHX or you are stuck with me and my paycheck". POR can simply not choose to trade Dame, no matter how badly he wants to go, if they don't like the offer.

They also have zero depth and their defense is nothing to write home about. Not to mention Durant's expected missed games. I'm not scared of Phoenix at all.

Exactly. They have 3 really good players, but it remains to be seen if they are a good mix. Seems like just yesterday when a few Blazer fans thought Westbrook was a good fit with the Lakers. Not saying it can't work, but I would guess that one of them will have to make some sacrifices for the good of the team. (Probably Beal)

Miami can hope til the cows come home does not make it so not to mention not even sure they have the assets to get such a trade done. I mean hell they could not get a trade for Beal done and he is only 75 to 80% of the player Dame is what on god's green earth makes them think they can get a deal done with the Blazers.

The move is set to form a new Big Three in Phoenix, pairing Beal with 12-time All-Star Kevin Durant and three-time All-Star Devin Booker. With those three players, along with starting center Deandre Ayton, all signed to maximum contracts,

the Suns will have $163 million in salary committed to those four players alone for next season.

What is the NBA salary cap?

It is set at $134 million for the 2023-24 season.

How are they gunna afford defenders?

Beal and Book is such a weird fit. Remember when we traded for Derek Anderson? Good times.

Or they could have waited it out. They got absolutely nothing back in return. They could have waited for other offers even if it took up to the trade deadline or next summer. Again they got nothing but 2nd round picks
