people are more than willing to discuss this. But when you start out with such an extremely nonsensical take on the situation, there can be no real discussion until you move away from that, especially when you hide behind it's "too soon"..as if a couple of days would make a difference and allow us to see your side of things and say "yeah, that makes sense"...LOL.

your 'it's doom and gloom for Oregon....they are losers now and headed for the abyss', is complete and utter horseshit...no point in debating the texture of the horseshit
Come on back and visit this conversation when Oregon actually wins something. I’ll be here waiting. When it happens I’ll rescind all my statements.

I think it'll be Georgia, Alabama, Michigan (assuming they win), then it'll come down to either Washington or Florida State (assuming they win).

Bama beat Georgia. I wonder what the heck is gonna happen.

Michigan-Washington-Alabama-Texas

if FSU beats Louisville I think the CFP committee will omit them because of the QB situation. They are allowed to account for injured players in their deliberations

Do I support the PAC 12 and become a Louisville fan so to support the Huskies?
Might be a tough decision?

I don't think that the Ducks' brand gets damaged by losing to the Huskies. It doesn't improve, probably, but it's pretty obvious that the two programs are just about equal. The Huskies just had a couple more breaks go their way each of this season's games.

I guess my question is why do you raise that issue when the Ducks won an extra game over last year's squad and makes the conference final when they missed out last year? Seems like at least a marginal improvement. I think in reality, this year's squad was considerably better than last year's.

Fuck Washington. They would be insufferable if they won the natty. I want them to get stomped.

I’m not the one who brought up “Brand”
Brand means nothing. Winning means everything.

Okay. Guess I’m just jumping in mid-conversation, which is never a good thing. I just didn’t see how the program is worse off after winning more than last year. I do agree that the “brand” doesn’t enter big-boy territory until the Ducks win on the big stage.

Georgia shouldn't make it over Washington, but I think they're the better team.

WTF do you mean by "win something"?

in the last 15 years they've won 10 or more games 11 times; more than 10 games 7 times. They've won 8 bowl games including 3 Rose Bowls. Their record in that stretch is 156-60, a .722 winning percentage. Since 2009, they have won 6 Pac-12 championships which is twice as many as any other team (Oregon-6; Stanford-3; Washington-3; USC-1). They've won a Heisman. They are 31-9 over the last 3 seasons and 47-14 over the last 5 seasons. They have posted that kind of record despite being on their 5th coach since Mike Bellotti retired.

that sure looks like 'winning something' to me

wait a minute...are you a beaver fan? that would explain a lot

KJ, Lets say Oregon doesnt make the playoffs the next three years, but still end with 10 plus wins each year and continues to improv thier recruiting classes.

Would you then say winning isn't everything and the brand seems to have a bit more impact than you originally had thought?

I agree winning is the bulk of it, but its not everything. To me the brand has some merit, especially with Nike in the back yard.

On the flip side of that if Alabama wins and gets into the playoffs then wins another title what do people around that team say?
Would there be a chance for another meeting between these two teams in the championship? That’s an NCAA “Brand” dream scenario.

People will say a lot of different things. Some people are saying Georgia was overrated. Some are saying Bama and Georgia are the best two teams. Some are saying there should be no SEC teams in the playoff.

I don't see how Bama/Georgia both get in unless Louisville and Iowa win this evening.

If Oregon wins 10+ games the next three years, they'll be making the playoffs. I think we'll be seeing multiple 10-2 SEC/B1G teams in the expanded playoff. Oregon would be in the 12 team playoff this year if it were a thing.

Now that is completely horseshit.
I’m a state of Oregon fan that happened to attend OSU and Portland St, and ASU for that matter. Go find another avenue bro.
When the Ducks actually win something worth crowing about I will be right there cheering them on. At this point they are a good program, let’s see if they can get to the next level.
We can revisit this as soon as they do. I’ll be here.

They are already a 10 win team. So recruiting has done that. What exactly does a 10 win team get? This year it gets you a bowl game. Next year they expand the playoffs to 8 teams right? So winning a playoff game should be a goal right? At least?

The playoff is 12 teams next year. Being a top 12 team (out of 133) in the country is a solid accomplishment for the vast majority of programs, Oregon included.

Yeah, I forgot the playoffs are expanding. However, imagine if it was remaining only four teams, what would you think in my imaginary scenario? :)

Quite the departure from, "They've lost everything they've worked for."

:biglaugh:

Thanks for that info. I was unsure.
I think it will be more exciting and I would hope the Ducks should be there.

Quite the departure from “elite” is the point. I have always and in the thread and conversation have maintained they are a good team. Just not great.

Weird year for sure and IMO just makes a better case for expanding the playoffs.
