Yeah, I have no sense if they would or wouldn't take him back. I think it would be a smart move to do it.

Hopefully the new guy makes that irrelevant. It just sucks that there's bad blood between Smith and The Beavs. I'd love to see it healed and see him take them to new heights.
 
It's not that Smith left, Riley and Erickson left but we're welcomed back.

It's that Smith quit on the team during the season, the final of 100+ PAC seasons. That would be disappointing for a player but is beyond unacceptable for a coach. There is no action from Beavers AD or others that can excuse that. Smith could have accepted whatever job he wanted but still coaches here until he left. That is the normal practice of all coaches in CFB. Smith failed in that small bit of standard professional courtesy. To do it during the darkest hour of Beavers football history is beyond insulting.

Now could have an argument of who is worse between Smith and Barnes. Unfortunately we're still stuck with one of them.

Not a single one I've talked to wants him back ... bridges burned take time to rebuild, maybe at some point the mood on him will shift but don't see it happening any time soon.
 
Nemec who usually has shit on the Beavers in past years is going nuts about this years recruiting. He said something along the lines of it being the best recruiting campaign the Beavs have had since Dennis Erickson.

I don't think we are close to done. The guy had a week or something to flip guys and got someone to flip from the SEC that is a three star.

His first year is going to be mostly transfers. Just wait until after that before we start complaining.

A lot of Beaver fans dont like Nemec. Because they cant handle the hard truth that we have been shit the last several years with recruiting. We fully deserve the criticism.

Yeah, which makes it that much more impressive that THAT guy is jumping up and down for us. I've rarely ever seen him say anything positive about the Beavs.

I find Nemec to be very honest about the Beavers' recruiting. It did suck under Bray.

It sucked so bad, it only took a few days on the job to do better.

You thought differently?

Cynai Thomas makes it official. He is the latest Thomas to join the Beavers after his older brother, Skyler Thomas, recently finished up his career in Corvallis. Cynai, after being committed to the Beavers for a while, opened up his recruitment in recent weeks but opted to return to the Beavers’ 2026 recruiting class. He’s, as of now, one of the crown jewels of this class for JaMarcus Shephard and company.

Oregon State’s new head coach, JaMarcus Shephard, landed a surprise in the early evening on Wednesday night as Maryland WR Jesse Legree committed to Oregon State. The 5-foot-11, 170-pounder is a Rivals three-star recruit.

Oregon State’s newfound recruiting pull under new head coach JaMarcus Shephard is already bearing fruit, as the Beavers landed former Ole Miss commit Jameson Powell. The three-star, 5-foot-10, 150-pounder talked about his decision to play under Shephard to Rivals’ Adam Gorney here.

Powell checks in as the No. 54 player in the state of California, the 111th-best receiver, and the 715th-best prospect nationally. He’s one of the highest-ranked signees in the Beavers’ class and should be considered a big win, choosing the Beavers over offers from Ole Miss, Oregon, California, Washington, Arizona, Boston College, Arkansas, & Colorado!

California tight end Landon Cook, who committed to the program during the coaching search, made it official that he will be a Beaver. This fall, Cook recorded 23 receptions for 326 yards and three touchdowns.

I just mentioned he shitted on us. Which is a fact whether it is true or not. It can be honest but still negative.

What I meant by that comment is it is a huge deal that he is so excited about this group because I rarely have seen him say positive things about our recruiting. He did say some positive stuff about Smith but over time he started getting less excited about him.

Signing No. 2 of the day comes from Texas defensive back Kai Wheaton. The Texas native committed to Oregon State in June over offers from Arizona, Arkansas, Cal, Houston, Memphis, San Diego State, Texas Tech, and others. Wheaton's cousin Markus was an All-Pac-12 first-team wide receiver for the Beavers.

The Beavers start signing day with a bang as the new coaching staff flips South Alabama commitment Caleb Metzner to the Beavers. Notably, Metzner visited Alabama just a few weeks ago, and while the Crimson Tide never offered, there was potential of them doing so. It’s no surprise that the Beavers picked up where the Crimson Tide left off and convinced Metzner to come out west. Fantastic senior season with 111 tackles, including 24.5 sacks
