The Bulls have extended an offer sheet to restricted free agent J.J. Redick.

A league source said "it would be painful for the Magic to match."

Yahoo! is reporting that Redick's offer sheet would be worth $19 million over three seasons.

Anthony Morrow has reached agreement on a three-year, $12 million offer sheet with the New Jersey Nets, league sources told Yahoo! Sports on Friday night.

The Golden State Warriors aren’t expected to match the offer, a league source said.

There goes all those shooters we needed. At least according to Nate.

The Nets are going for a high BBIQ team I see...

Son of a bitch...way to go POR...you waste your fucking time on a player who it now appears UTA will VERY likely match (with Boozer and Korver gone) and then drag your fucking feet on Morrow (in particular) who GS will likely NOT match (as I thought they would not) and even Redick, who I am surprised ORL won't match....

This is such a mickey mouse orgininzation sometimes....What a bunch of dipshits.....Morrow in particular would have been a very good fit IMO....and at $4mil per year for 3 years? That is a good deal.....

That's a lot of anger over rather mediocre players. Neither player would have been a terrible addition, but neither would have been a particularly impactful addition.

What are you getting all worked up about? 2 players that would get no run on our team anyway! Relax!

Those are two players who were lucky to get minutes on their previous teams, and the Blazers are "dipshits" for not bending over backwards to get them?

That's ridiculous.

Ed O.

I want a GM as much as anyone, but I haven't seen anywhere that the Blazers were even interested in any of the guys that have signed so far. It was also reported tht the Blazers are still looking at trades more than FA signings. Also keep in mind that the Blazers have Roy, Miller, Aldridge, Batum, Oden, Camby, Joel, Babbitt, Rudy, Bayless, Williams, Pendergraph, Cunningham under contract, and Mills and Johnson who will probably get a contract making 15. Portland will thin the roster through a trade, and then sign a guy like Matthews to replace the guard that went out to get whoever they plan on getting.

No D at all, so who the hell cares?

It looks to me like the Bulls are back to their old bullshit. They're signing guys to 2-3 year contracts so when Rose and Noah are due raises, they won't have to pay the LT.

Yea, I guess that is why Portland is talking to Wesley Mathews who is better than both of those guys. ..........

And thus, LeBron went elsewhere.

You can talk the talk all you want. But, when "times are tough" if you (as an owner) won't pony up to pay players -guess what? - the agents will spend YEARS bending the ears of star players about how certain owners are CHEAP.

You don't think that doesn't have an impact in a off-season like this one.

I'll weep about free agents we choose not to pursue when they're better than our starters. For the money, I'd take Outlaw and Blake over those two, and I didn't think much of Travis and Steve.

Reddick is getting overpaid (like most everyone else this year). He's just a gunner. Cannot do much else and D is not that great either. Up until this past season, he was nothing more than a bench warmer.

You mean Portland is considering offering Matthews an over-priced contract that Utah basically has to match, right? Probably MLE money, which is absolutely crazy for a 12.3 PER rookie who is an average shooter and got torched by Kobe Bryant in the playoffs.

Don't worry, there's a plan!

OMG! Kobe sucks sooo bad!

Matthews is supposed to be a good defender. His play against Bryant says otherwise.

Kobe took close to 30 shots per game in that series (Counting the shots they called fouls on) they were not all against Mathews. Many were against DWill as well. Mathews played about 36 minutes a game. Not bad for a rookie. Other than one game where he was 2-11, Mathews and Kobe shot the same percetage. But throw out the fucking stats and just watch the game. I am sure you will agree Kobe gets star treatment. That and the fact he is pretty good, makes this all a moot point. You don't judge a rookie based on his play against the best player in the world. The kid plays tough D.

Morrow is a very good 3pt shooter...to say he wouldn't get minutes on this team is bullshit...

Look if Nate is going to insist on using the Roy-Iso offense then getting guys who can consistently hit open jump shots is very important....

Morrow...Korver...Redick have all proven they can do that, better than Bayless or Rudy have shown themselves capable of doing so far...and Rudy is out the door anyway...Now maybe Babbitt will be a contributor in helping that, but I sure wouldn't want to rely on a rookie for that....

I don't have a problem with Matthews....the problem I have is that I have a tough time beelieving UTA wouldn't match his deal, after waiting a week of course, particularly since they have lost Boozer and Korver already.....seems like a wasted endeavor to me...

As I said before 44mil for 3 years is good deal for Morrow.....

Amen. Somebody slap me the next time I get into an argument over Kyle Korver, Wes Matthews, Anthony Morrow or Jordan Farmar.

That's right...I forgot...POR is a title contender...the way they handled PHX and SA before falling in Game 7 to the Lakers is proof that they are going to take it all next year!!! They don't need any more players\help.....

What fantasy world are some of you living in??

They need to pull off a complicated multi-player consolidation trade. Chasing free agents in this market (where there are more dollars than talent) is a bit like shuffling deck chairs on a sinking ship; sure a 4 million dollar shooter might help this team get a couple more regular season wins, but in the grand scheme of things isn't going to impact their ability to go deep in the playoffs ... so ... stop hyperventilating about these minor players and worry more about what they are able to do between now and training camp and before the February trade deadline.

If Kobe takes 30 shots per game and shoots 52% while getting to the line 10 times a game, how is that a bad thing? He had a TS% of 67% against Utah and Game Score over 20 in each game.. He probably should have shot more, in retrospect.. Plus, if Matthews is known for his defense, why the fuck was Deron Williams guarding Bryant at all during that series?

Bryant

Matthews peaked at a Game Score of 11.7 in that series, the only game over 10 in that series.

I'm sorry, but I don't find "watch the games" to be a convincing argument considering I am assuming we both "watched the games". ;)

Well there is this thing in Basketball called "switching" where throughout the course of the ball game, players often are forced to guard another teammates man. This occasionally is caused by what is known as a "pick" or "screen"...............Actually it might be easier for all of us if you just went out and bought a book on basketball. This will help with some of your confusion.

In other words, you're basically talking out of your ass. An elite defender rarely has to switch on a pick and roll. Plus, give me the number of times that Deron Williams, who I assume was guarding either Farmar or Fisher, had to switch on Kobe when Farmar/Fisher were setting the screen in the pick and roll. I've seen Pau run the pick and roll, and Odom, but I don't recall seeing Farmar/Fisher set many screens for Kobe. If I'm wrong, please educate me. :)

Or, I could buy your book on basketball, where small guards consistently set screens for bigger guards in the Triangle offense. ;)

It's exchanges like these, lost in cyberspace, that make me laugh.
