I agree, but I think at some point along the line the "& CO." part got dropped. KP's been riding on a lot of fan sentiment that everything he touched had turned to gold and that he was this massive wheeler dealer because of all the trades he'd orchestrated on draft day in 2006, well maybe he wasn't so much of a wheeler dealer after all, and maybe Chad Buchanan and Mike Born didn't get enough credit for the scouting they did.
I liked KP, I thought he was a pretty good GM, but I'm glad the halo is maybe going to get knocked off of his head a little bit ... KP the fallible human being is whole lot more appealing to me than Saint Kev.
Gabriel is a name I keep thinking about as a potential replacement for KP. I heard the same thing Patterson just said from my uncle.
I never bought into the "KP could do no wrong" crap, but he was a top 7-10 GM in this league. Every GM makes mistakes. You don't fire someone like that unless you have a replacement equal or better in hand.
And for me "KP the Blazers' GM" is a whole lot more appealing to me than "KP the Nuggets' GM".
Is this the same Steve Patterson who flat-out lied about paying Darius Miles' fine after Miles went off on Mo Cheeks? Didn't he call Canzano a liar for reporting it, and then had to eat crow once Canzano came up with the actual document? That Steve Patterson? Yeah, he's real credible.
Except for the fact that the Blazers never paid it, and the document was written by Jeff Weschler, Miles' agent.
Using one example for perspective: After Damon Stoudamire’s third marijuana arrest in the summer of 2003, the Blazers fined him $250,000. Later, after Stoudamire underwent rehabilitation and aftercare and agreed to regular urine tests, management rescinded the fine with the promise from the player that he would donate the same amount of money to Albina Head Start.
I would have been happy to see KP retained, but I don't think it's quite the disaster some are making out (unless his replacement is a boob)
As for Denver it sounds like Kroenke's kid is going to take over. In any case, I'm sure KP will get a new gig, but I have to wonder if it won't be as a head of scouting for some organization. This is a pretty small community of people we're talking about. If KP really did try to make a power play for Larry Miller's gig and that's what got he and Penn canned then I tend to think it won't be overnight that he's installed as the head of basketball ops for some team.
Except that Patterson DENIED there was such a document, until the document surfaced.
Patterson is a known liar and is a douchebag in general. His image rehab attempts yesterday while picking on Pritchard's still warm carcass cement my view of him. It's not like the team hadn't paid a huge fine prior to that. The document existed. It had been discussed.
He denied the Blazers wrote the document, which is correct. Pay attention.
Well, only if the President of the new team is very secure about his own employment. Are there any teams where the President is the owner's kid or something?

I mean, I haven't heard of or from Patterson in 3 years, and all of a sudden he's pressing more flesh and giving more interviews than a political candidate.
anyone else think that there was some kind of non-disclose agreement with Patterson's "stepping down" in 2007 that expired with his successor being gone? I mean, I haven't heard of or from Patterson in 3 years, and all of a sudden he's pressing more flesh and giving more interviews than a political candidate.
Fascinating stuff. If Pritchard actually was conspiring to get himself and Penn promoted through a deception, then Paul Allen is taking the high road by not revealing the reason for the firing. It would be easy to make Pritchard look like a sleazeball, but instead he is just letting him go without comment.
Well, that's the line the Vulcans are leaking. Sounds better than "Paul Allen got his widdle feewings hurt because Pritchard was getting all of the credit", I guess.
Sounds more plausible, too. When has Allen ever been a credit-hog? I think he's pretty much the opposite.

That's why he sits in the front row under the basket? Didn't see him at many games 2004-2007 sitting in his seat. Did hear him whine via Vulcan and David Stern about a broken business model during those years, though. I'm sure that has little to do with seeking attention when things are going well.
I think they should be in the same seat when things are bad.
Oh, I see. It's not where he sits, but where he doesn't sit. Not appearing at games shows that he wants to take all the credit. Sure, that makes total sense.

Did you listen to Lary Miller's pathetic presser last night? I'm surprised Paul Allen didn't walk out and have Miller service him during the middle of it.
Yes Men unite!
It was pathetic. I'm no Larry Miller fan. But what that has to do with this discussion I don't know. If Allen was the egotist you claim, he would have been in front of the cameras himself.

There is a difference between being an egotist and wanting credit. Anyhow, this bores me. Are Ed or Minstrel around to at least be interesting?
No, sorry, you'll have to make all your unsupported claims and illogical wandering arguments to me.
barfo
Does anybody here have supported claims?
