Not so much trades, but as posted before, I would have liked to have seen Eric Mika (now China) with us. 20 ptts, 16 reb, 3.3 ast, and a block in 37 mpg over 6 games in the GLeague. 55% FG, and not a liability at the line. Also a big body, willing to show grittiness on defense. Soft touch around the boards. Huge missed opportunity, IMO. Not because he wouldve set the NBA on fire, but he wouldve been a terrific fit for us.

Gary Payton jr who can play on the ball and pick up opposing guards next to both Dame and CJ - he could be interesting, but probably isn't of focus now. Also Oregon guy.

Rabb could be worth a look. Double double with good defense and shooting over 30% from three. He didn't do much other than late his rookie year in the NBA, but I'd give him a look. I also like Justin Patton. I believe he's still under contract with the Thunder, but he's a good defender with upside. His injury history somewhat scares me though.

With Hood out, I'd take a look at Justin Anderson. He's still a big talent, good size, works hard. Now shooting almost 40% from three on a good amount of attempts.

Instead of breaking the bank and trading for Love and his 90M over the next three seasons, I'd much rather take a look at Henry Ellenson out of the G-League, as he's a budget mini baby Kevin Love, and it could give us an idea of how that would fit in our team. No risk there, and he played well in the NBA before.

I'm also seeing all kinds of posts/tweets about guys like Randle, Love, etc. Let's not go for the one dimensional guys with huge holes at either D or O. And if you do, make sure they're easily interchangable with other pieces and don't tie up too much money in them. Love has regressed to an empty pts/reb guy. Randle is a net negative anytime he plays. He's horrible, dumb and doesn't realize he's so limited. They're basically the opposites of Harkless and Aminu, who had good D but were really limited on offense. Let's avoid these either/or guys for once. We already have enough of them as is. Bring in ball players, and plug potential holes with cheap options. Don't plug a hole with a 90M contract.

I just hope we can get a quality small forward in the buyout market.

Boston could possibly use Whiteside. They are shooting for the stars at this point.
Is there anyone we want back that they'd give up for Whiteside? It could include getting back Kanter and a position of need.

Their contracts make it tough to trade for someone that makes as much as Whiteside as I doubt they'd look to move Hayward.

It's not a trade, but I think it's worth monitoring the Golden State situation. They really want to convert Ky Bowman to full time contract and to do so I read in an article their options are to cut Chriss or trade Glenn Robinson or Alec Burks.

I would like any of those guys. They all have looked quiet solid this year. Burks has improves a lot as a shooter and looks really confident out there. Chriss has a completely different mindset and tries to work his way back to the league. Bowman is a score first pg which might not really suit our need, but he has been extremely solid for a rookie when given heavy minutes. Robinson can fill a need at starting SF, shoots ok, rebounds well and plays good D.

Both Burks and Robinson would fit as a trade using the Hood Disabled Player Exception. Either one would help this team. A future 2nd probably gets a deal done and helps both teams.

I like this idea. Especially since were the Blazers if they really want a 2nd they’ll buy it!

2nds have actually been more valuable than cash in the last couple drafts. I kind of want to keep our 2020 2nd because if this team doesn't make the playoffs it would be 44 or better. Our 2022 2nd could be the double draft year where high school players can be drafted again. So I'd trade like a 2024 2nd for either. If I had to choose it would probably be Glenn Robinson (credit to @BonesJones for suggesting him the night Hood got injured).

Burke is actually having a better year than Robinson and isn't a starter (produces off the bench) so they might be willing to give him up and it saves them a little more money.

Weren't Aminu and Harkless considered defensive players? The problem trading/obtaining a defensive player is that defense is a philosophy and an attitude. It is team concepts. Bazemore is a heck of a defensive player but he alone has made very little difference defensively even with a shot blocker in Whiteside.

If NO isn't going to make defense a priority, then load up on offense and hope for the best.

The 2md round is pretty bad this year though.

That 2022 2nd could have more value then.

At this point, I dont think we can worry about potential 2nd round picks 3 years from now.

That 3 round in 2025 is jack pot territory!

Trade Targets
Derrick White - future 1st / Simons (down year, Murray/Walker/Keldon Johnson already in the fold) *Likely a draft day deal scenario
Otto Porter - Whiteside expiring + stuff

Free Agency Targets
Davis Bertans
Raul Neto
Cheap 3rd Center

Lillard
McCollum
Porter Jr.
Collins
Nurkic

White
Bertans

Hassan Whiteside
Kent Bazemore
Gary Trent Jr (Tolliver would be better here for the Blazers, but not sure if cavs would do it
1st (maybe)

For

Kevin Love
Tristan Thompson
Alfonzo Mckinnie

Maybe a three team trade with Portland, Cleveland, and Memphis, where Portland gets both Love and Iguodala.

Whiteside+ for Love

Use the injury exception and sign Larry Sanders.

Apparently, according to him, he's in the best shape of his life. It'd be an interesting experiment.

Oh geez, there is a player from debates several years ago that I wouldn't have thought we'd be discussing today.
